Customers consistently note the Multigroom 5000 Trimmer's ease of use, long battery life, and ample attachments as significant advantages. Many also praise its performance and value for the price, highlighting its lightweight design. While some users found the shaving quality could be improved and expressed concerns about the charging indicator, the positive feedback on other features outweighs these criticisms.

I have used many different trimmers before and all had battery problems. This one has been working flawlessly for over a year now. It is convenient to hold in your hand, there is a replaceable blade and, most importantly, it holds a charge for a long time !!!

Has worked well for me thus far! I normally use it for trimming my beard/hair before shaving and it hasn't disappointed me yet. There are many attachments if one has a use for them and I really enjoy that it can be used while plugged-in or off of the internal battery.

There are a number of hair and beard trimmers on the market but quality and durability vary quite a bit among the alternatives. Norelco has always been known for top quality, long-lived shavers and the Multigroom 5000 is a worthy addition to that family.
The Multigroom 5000 comes with a very sleek and attractive rechargeable power unit which weighs about 6 ounces and is about 10 inches long. It has a non-slip rubberized body with silver accents and a simple on/off button. It will also run directly with a power cord if completely discharged.
There are four cutting attachments: extra wide, normal, precision (very narrow) and nose/ear trimmer. All have self-sharpening, dual-cut stainless steel blades.
To trim and shape hair there are 13 unbreakable plastic guards which snap over the cutters. These are color-coded and have the remaining hair length noted on them.
There are six black guards for hair trimming: 4 mm, 9 mm, 12 mm, 16 mm and a pair (left and right) of guides for fading hair from 4 to 9 mm.
There are three dark grey beard guards: 3 mm, 5 mm and 7 mm.
There are two light grey stubble guards: 1 mm and 2 mm.
There are two green body hair guards: 3 mm and 5 mm.
In addition to these items the box includes a one page instruction sheet, the power charger, a cleaning brush and a drawstring storage pouch.
The box says it is an 18 piece set but there are actually 21 pieces. Bonus!!
After a brief charging period I put the trimmer to the test on my hair, beard, stubble, body hair and (ugh!) nose hairs. In each case the trimmer worked smoothly and did a great job on the target hair. I’m not a beard and stubble guy normally but I hadn’t shaved for a few days and the stubble guard would let me keep a measured length (if I wanted that look.) I tried the hair trimmer (with the help of a friend) on the hair at the back of my head at the neckline and it looked pretty good (for a first time would-be barber!) I used the beard trimmer guards on my sideburns and they were shaped quickly and well.
Finally – the real test: Is this a good nose hair trimmer? Yes – way better at that nasty task than those cheap battery-powered devices you find at discount stores. The Norelco Multigroomer is worth the full price just for its ability to keep you looking good when someone stares up into your nostrils!
All attachments are cleaned by rinsing under running water. But the power unit itself is not water resistant, so no trimming in the shower! That is a minor issue and there is also no charging indicator to tell you when the unit is fully charged.
It would also be nice to have a plasticized card which identifies the use of each guard.
But overall the trimmer feels solid in your hand, works great, charges quickly, holds enough power to run far longer (3 hours!) than you would ever use it at one sitting (unless you decide to set up a full-time barber shop in your home!) and has a ton of accessories to guarantee that your trimming will go well.
Despite a few very minor quibbles, the Philips Norelco Multigroom 5000 has most of the features you might look for in a hair/beard trimmer, very few drawbacks and is priced very well. Just the Norelco name alone gives you the confidence that you made a great choice and the device lives up to that reputation.

Good Hair & Nose Trimmer (I dont have a beard)

What's the content in the box
--------------------------------------
1. Has a Precision Trimmer (Not sure what to do with this one)
2. Body Hair trimmer (worth it)
3. Extra Wide Hair Trimmer (Not for me, cuts too short)
4. Nose and Ear trimmer ( Have both types sticking out, love this )
5. Hair Gaurds (I use them on my son)
6. The Trimmer
How's the Usage & Charging
--------------------------------------
Charges pretty quickly to provide upto 3 hours of trimming. Unfortunately it does not tell me the charge remaining, so i get to know only when its exhausted
Nose and Ear Hair
-------------------------
I love this attachment, rather than buying a separate Nose/Ear hair trimmer for 10$ this is a good bang for buck and it clears the hair from both nose and ear very well , does a good job here
Hair Trimmer
------------------
I cut my son's hair and i dont want to pay like 15$ every 15 days to cut my son's hair. I do have a Wahl Corded one which i use. Now, the disadvantage with that one is that the blade is kind of wide and for my son's head, it is way too wide. This one is not that wide and works much better with my son who keeps moving his head everytime i want to cut his hair. The small handle and the blade width helps me navigate through his head with good amount of precision. I also dont need a another for trimming the side burns and back of head. works good for him. I never tried on my head and i dont think i will , it requires a professional cut ;)
Cleaning
-----------
Love this functionality. My Wahl is kind of messy, i cannot wash it and it is oily, it sticks on to hair. Now, with the Philips, you can clean with water Awsome.

Fast Charging Entry Level Trimmer

The Philips Norelco Multigroom 5000 Trimmer comes well priced for an entry level electric trimmer and removes many of the intricacies of a pricier model.
To begin with, the trimmer doesn’t come pre-charged, but on the box it said that a 5 minute charge would suffice for one trim. I plugged it in and set a timer for 5 minutes to test the truth of this. Sure enough, the power was sufficient enough for me to have it on for a full 10 minutes.
This trimmer doesn’t have the option to adjust the height of the plastic length add on. Instead, it comes with various heads with pre-selected sizes. Though this is good for someone who want to ease into this type of trimming, it seems a bit overwhelming at first. However, if you start testing them from the largest available size to the smallest, you can gauge how much of length from your beard you will shave off.
Since I only wanted to trim my beard slightly, I chose the 12mm option and began. Out of the box, I needed to change blades for the wider add ons. It’s not difficult to change blades, you just have to push it upwards with your thumb with a little force and it will pop out. I installed the new blade and the 12mm add on. The tirm turned out nicer than I expected. I then removed the add-on and tested the blades without add ons to see how close of a shave I could get around my beard and cheek areas. It won’t give you a clean shave, but it will trim down enough to go to work with a clean look.
With the same charge, I switched out the blade and installed the nose trimmer. The nose trimmer worked as expected and I wasn’t disappointed.
I give this product 3 out of 5 stars, as changing the blades will be necessary if you have multiple grooming needs and it can become cumbersome. The pouch it comes with to store everything is very plain and just has everything piled up into one place. It’s not a bad trimmer, but a great entry level one. This is a perfect trimmer to have in a travel suitcase on the ready or for college students with limited space for storage.

Bought this trimmer after being a Braun guy for years. I have to admit, I was skeptical about the price (it has a lot of guards and other bits and pieces that I thought were driving the price). However, I was wrong. The self-cleaning heads on the trimmer are sharp and rinse clean under running water. While I've never used it in the shower, I have used it with shave gel/shave butter with no nicks or cuts. Charges quickly and runs for quite a while on a single charge.

This trimmer looks good. I’m a female who cuts hair on the side. My hands are large but this trailer has a good grip. There are a lot of attachments. I only use about three or four of them. They come disconnected off of the trimmer really easily and can be cleaned just as easy. I wish the bag that came with it was a little more sturdy or maybe even leather. The tie string sucks a zipper would be better. The trimmer is not too loud or too heavy. Other trimmers have a super speed this one does not. This is not a close shave trimmer but it cleans up most areas pretty well. Don’t expect barbershop quality. Straight out of the box it does not have a charge so plug it in as soon as you get it. The charge will last a few days but I suggest plugging it in after each use. When you’re ready to use it you don’t have time to charge it. And you don’t want a slow battery trimmer on certain areas of your face. My husband hates the nose and ear trimmer I don’t think it works as well as really tiny scissors. Again this is a good razor and it does the basic and maybe a little bit more but again don’t expect Barber quality from this razor.

My old groomer died after many years of having it. Bought this one and wasn't sure what to expect. It comes with so many different attachments that it was a little overwhelming. You need to read and follow the instructions included and you can find a little more detailed instructions and information online. Numerous reviews sad that they were cut by the trimming head. But if you read the warning, make sure you put the guard on when needed. Especially in the more sensitive areas of your body. I experienced no pulling of hair even when trimming my beard. Would highly recommend. Price was great

I bought this as a gift for my significant other as I'm the one that cuts his hair and I got tired of fighting his ancient clippers that practically tore his hair out. It does a fantastic job! The various length hair attachments and ear attachments make styling incredibly easy. He loves it for the beard options and battery life. Speaking of, the battery lasts forEVER. At least 4 weeks with regular use (he allows some stubble to grow before shaving clean again). Best part is it can be used plugged in OR off of battery. Really wonderful trimmer, likely going to gift one to my dad, too.
