    Average Shaver - needs improvements

As a woman, I thought I would try this shaver on my legs and arms. I tested it first on my legs, both wet and dry. It seemed to do an adequate job of removing hair. I next made the mistake of trying it on my underarms - both wet and dry. In both circumstances, it was a very painful experience. Perhaps it's not designed for this use. I then used the trimmer feature on my husband to trim his hair and beard. When I opened the trimmer, it did not sound right and it seemed it was not "vibrating" enough to cut thoroughly. It did not do a good job of cutting. I'm wondering if the shaver is defective, because most trimmers and shavers work much better than this one did. The positive things about this shaver are the grip which is comfortable, and it's very easy to clean. The outer cap however is difficult to pop off without the entire head coming off. Overall - this is an average shaver that needs some improvements.

I may be missing something here

Since I've been back to wearing a beard for a number of years, it seems that the task of shaving my neck and keeping the edges trim should be simple. So, every few years I try out the newest electric shaver. And, like clockwork, every few years I am disappointed with the results. My skin is left with considerable stubble no matter what brand or model I try. The plus side of the Norelco; Battery life appears excellent, it recharges quickly, and it's comfortable to hold. Based on my other Philips electric grooming products, I expect it to hold up quite well. The net here is that if an electric shaver works for you, then this is an excellent choice. If, like me, you have a thick beard and are wondering if there's been some technical advance that will make an electric shaver work better for you, well, I can save you the trouble of checking.

    Goodbye Razors!

I've owned many Norelco "Dry" shavers, and this is the best one I ever had! Love to shave Wet , with shave gel. It does a wonderful job. Word of caution: don't place too much pressure on your skin at the beginning. This shaver will cut you! Start easy, and in time, you'll know how much it takes to get a close shave. Would buy it again!

I haven't used an electric shaver in years. I could not believe how close and comfortable a shave I got. I have shaving cream left from my blade use, so I tried it. Wow! Will not be going back to my blade any time soon.

    Great Value

Shaves fine, as advertised. Tried in the shower, same results. (Save the cleanup and just use it dry). For the money, this is the best value, as the law of diminishing returns kicks in above this price point. In otherwords, you can't go wrong and there will be no buyer's remorse the next day. I removed 1 star for not including a travel case. Even a cheap $1 case would have been better than nothing. It does run at a lower RPM which makes it a lot quieter and better battery efficient. Surprisingly, the slow speed does not compromise the closeness of the shave. A two speed option would have been nice. All in all I would highly recommend this shaver for anyone who is looking for a reasonable price, or a first time buyer who is on the fence about switching to electric. Speaking of which, the 3 head design does a better job for me (than a foil Shaver), especially under the nose.

    Better than the older model

This shaver replaced an older cordless Norelco that the batteries quit taking a charge. I didn’t think that a new shaver with the same or similar head would make much difference but the design is slightly different and it cuts better, faster and smoother. Just wish it would run while plugged in as this was the way I had to use my old one when the batteries wore out; but the old one wasn't designed to use on a wet or lathered face.

If only it wasn't an electric razor

I really don't like electric razors, I actually bought this because I was going on vacation and it was easier. That being said I was pleasantly surprised. The ability to rinse it in the sink is great, it does a relatively good job... but again, it is an electric razor, and it is apparent when you use it that they haven't come terribly far in the last decade or 2.

These Philips shavers work fine until the battery or power switch finally wear out. I mostly just replace the heads every couple of years.

This shaver is very easy to use and when you shave, it doesn't feel like you're shaving at all! No discomfort, or cuts. The reason is pretty clear when you're done and rinse your face. You still have stubble and areas that aren't shaved. Really not sure why these shavers get good reviews. My 'beard' is not tough at all. Maybe these shavers work great on really tough beards or hard skin. Mine isn't. I ended up returning it. If someone has found a really good mid priced shaver, feel free to let me know about it.

    Beet my expectations

I had a bad experience with electric razors before but my skin doesn't like normal razors. This one has never snagged hairs and is quiet when running. Occasionally it will miss a couple hairs on my neck if I dont run over them a couple extra times, but other than that it shaves impressively smooth. Only issue is the pop-up trimmer on the back doesn't work good at all.

This shaver is wet/dry but I highly recommend if you use a shaving cream to use very little, because it clogs up the device. I find it a bit time consuming to use the Phillips shaver if I'm being honest, because after use there was still stubble every time and using the shaver on stubble just irritates my skin and doesn't remove it. It's nothing new, just a normal shaver but I do like the replacement heads are annual and the device is rechargeable. If you don't mind shaving twice and cleaning out the blades frequently for them to work, it's okay. I wouldn't go out of my way to willingly recommend it, however.

      Hi Oappev,

We appreciate the time you took to write us a feedback about your Norelco Wet/Dry Shaver. How unfortunate to hear that it did not quite meet your expectations. We highly recommend reading the user manual once again to learn about how you can maximize the use of the device. Here are also some tips which may be useful for you:
      - If you press the groomer too hard against your scalp or skin, you may accidentally change the settings to high or low or apply uneven pressure. This can result in uneven clipping.
      - For the best trimming experience, make sure your groomer is in full contact with your skin and move it gently and steadily.
      - Regularly clean your device, and ensure that no cream, hair, or dirt is left, to avoid clogging in the future.

Should you need some further assistance from us, please feel free to get in touch via Facebook (@Philips) or Twitter (@PhilipsCare). Alternatively, you can reach out to us via the contact page on our website. One of our colleagues will then try their best to help you further.

Hope to speak to you soon!

      Kind regards,

Smooth face for a low price

I bought this shaver in order to stop using a razor. I normally would only shave every couple of days because it was a chore. I wanted to try an electric razor but with so many Norelco options to choose from, I wasn't sure what to get for the price. I saw a Youtube review on this one and for the price decided to give it a try. I'm not disappointed! Now I can comfortably shave daily and it leaves my face nice and smooth. I have a medium beard and it works great. My wife is happy!
