Whether genetics, Mother Nature, some random environmental exposure or my stressful clients caused it remains to be seen, but my head went and got bald. Of course I wouldn't get lucky and go Dr. Bunsen bald. On the Muppet front, we're talking Statler and Waldorf, so I've gotta still maintain the sides and rear. This shaver does that beautifully and keeps my melon looking smooth. I just use the shaver and not the trimmer, so I can't speak to the quality there, but the head is easy to clean and this thing holds a charge for longer than I do. I've found the shaver to do best on my head right after a shower, once my head has dried. Definitely recommend this shaver for you other cue balls out there.

This was my first experience with a triple head electric shaver, and it was a positive one. The shaver feels great in your hand. It is light and easy to carry around. It is also very quiet compared to other electric shavers I have used. It also has a trimmer attachment, which I did not use. You simply unsnap the triple head cutters and snap in the trimmer to use its features. The cover for the triple blades flips up for easy cleaning. A USB-A cord is furnished for charging. The unit does not ship with a charger. I used an old spare charger for my iPad, and it worked fine with the razor. You plug it in, and the charging light flashes, to let you know it is charging. When I returned home a couple of hours later, the shaver was fully charged. I got a close and comfortable shave shave with this shaver, with no discomfort whatsoever. It is a wet-dry shaver, and I used wet. It is said to be fully shower safe. Like most rechargeable shavers, you are not to use the shaver while it is plugged in to your USB charger. That cable is for charging only. This unit should last through many shaves before it’s time for recharging. I very much enjoyed the shaving experience with this Philips Norelco shaver, and I highly recommend it.

I wanted to upgrade to a new electric shaver. The 5000X does a nice job. It has a great feel in your hand and it gives a close and comfortable shave. It is also very quiet and very easy to clean.

This is an all-around great shaver and trimmer. It is designed ergonomically, and certain unique features elevate its value and results. For one, the trimmer has a longer than usual neck that allows for a more precise cut and line-up. Shaping and getting a defined edge is so easy with this trimmer. Along with that, the cuts are much finer that what other trimmers can accomplish, especially at this price point. The shaver attachment pivots to accommodate to the body’s natural contours, ensuring a clean shave with no missed spots. It leaves the skin smooth, there is no snagging and no irritation after shaving. It also opens for easy cleaning inside. It charges quickly and has lasted all week and still has not needed to be charged. It is also waterproof so it can be used in the shower. It is great for both face and body. Another plus is that it is really quiet. There is no worry about waking anyone up when shaving at night or in the morning in a room-adjacent bathroom. Overall, this is a great shaver that meets all basic shaving and trimming needs and can be used by both males and females.

This is an excellent shaver! Performs at the $300 level every day. Super easy to clean and maintain. Holds up charge for around 2 weeks with daily shaving.

I purchased the 5000x rechargeable wet and dry shaver with precision trimmer to replace an original Norelco corded electric shaver that i had for years. I really enjoy the cordless feature and this model stands on its base when not in use and that works well in my space. It shaves very well and is quiet and very easy to clean after use.

Here’s my personal review of the Philips Norelco Shaver 5000X after using it for a few weeks: First off, the design is sleek and lightweight. I really liked how comfortably it fits my hand, and the grip makes it super easy to maneuver—especially when I’m doing a quick shave before heading out. The waterproof build is also a plus, so whether I want a dry shave in front of the mirror or a quick touch-up in the shower, it’s got me covered. The shave itself is pretty good for an electric. It handles my regular stubble with ease—even after a few days’ growth, I get a clean result on my cheeks and jaw. Sometimes, I do feel a bit of stubble on my neck if I brush against the grain, but it’s minimal and usually only if I’m not super thorough. It never pinches or nicks, and it takes just a couple of minutes to get everything tidy. My neck can be sensitive, but I had only a little irritation after shaving daily for a stretch. Switching out the shaver head for the trimmer is quick, but if you use the trimmer a lot, having to swap the attachment might be a bit of a hassle. The trimmer works fine for sideburns and cleaning up around the nose, but it’s not the most precise or quiet out there. For me, it’s good enough for what I need. Battery life is impressive—I’ve gone weeks without needing a recharge. The USB charging cable makes it portable, but I wish Philips had used a standard USB-C port instead of their usual proprietary plug. One thing to note: you can’t run the shaver while it’s plugged in, so if the battery runs low you’ll have to wait for a quick charge. Thankfully, a 5-minute charge is enough for one shave. Cleaning is super easy; just pop off the head and give it a rinse after use. Pros: Comfortable, lightweight design Wet & dry shaving options Fast, easy cleanup Great battery life with quick charging No nicks or pinching Cons: Not as close as a manual razor Trimmer attachment isn’t built-in Proprietary charging cable Doesn’t work while plugged in Bottom line: If you want an electric shaver that’s easy to use, gentle on the skin, and convenient for travel or daily use, the Philips Norelco 5000X delivers. It may not give the absolute closest shave, but for the price and comfort, I’m happy with it and would recommend it to anyone tired of dealing with blades.

This is my third Norelco in a period of almost 55 years and the best one yet. I love the fact that there is no need of a cord when using it, only when charging it with a USB outlet. It is quiet, easy to hold and glides over the skin smoothly. And I should add that I am 82 years old. Would like to have had this when I was younger.

I recently purchased this electric shaver and overall, I am very satisfied with the product. It’s my first time switching from a traditional razor to an electric machine, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. The transition hasn’t been instant, there’s definitely a bit of a learning curve, but the results so far have been promising. One thing I’ve noticed is that it takes some time for the skin to fully adjust to the electric shave, especially if you're used to a close blade shave. At first, the shave wasn’t quite as close as I expected, but after a few uses, it started to feel much smoother and more comfortable. I’ve read that it can take a couple of weeks for your skin and hair to adapt, and I believe that’s accurate. What I really appreciate about this product is the convenience. No more shaving cream or dealing with messy sinks, just pick up the machine and go. It’s also much faster than a manual shave, especially during rushed mornings. The design is ergonomic and feels good in the hand, and the battery life has been excellent so far. I’ve been using it for several days on a single charge. I also like how gentle it is on my skin. I haven’t experienced any irritation or razor burn, which is something I often dealt with when using regular razors. It works well on both dry and slightly damp skin, and the cleaning process is very simple. All in all, this is a solid product. If you’re thinking about switching to electric shaving, I recommend giving this one a try. Just be patient with the adjustment period — it’s worth it in the end

Shaving. Not my favorite part of the morning, however, I greatly dislike going out unshaven. The Philips Norelco Shaver 5000X makes the endeavor a little bit easier. This cordless, rechargeable razor can be used at the sink or in the shower. I use mine at the sink and like that I don't have to wait for water to get hot, while also avoiding clean-up. And if you have a significant other or date, there's no (or at least less) fighting for sink space. It's has a nice build quality and shape, fitting nicely in your hand. Learning to use it effectively only takes a couple of sessions. It's painless (no cuts, no nicks!) and gets to all the nooks and crannies (think nose and near the ears) easily. I love how easy it is to clean and I often throw it in my gym bag for late-day clean-ups. There's an attachment called a "precision trimmer" for fine-tuning the mustache, beard or chops. Nice. According to the manufacturer, one hour of charging with the USB-A cable provides fifty minutes of shaving. In a pinch, a five minute charge will get you an emergency shave. I have not verified these claims, but I also haven't recharged it yet - in over 3 weeks of use. I found

Phillips has been my favorite brand of triple cutting head razors for many years. They produce a nice quality machine that with proper care will last quite a long time. This 5000X shaver is a wet or dry razor ( Waterproof IPX7 ) that can even be used in the shower. Personally I never do that, I shave at the sink as I always have, but I take advantage of the waterproof feature by using a stream of hot water from the faucet to clean it up after a shave. The triple head shaving attachment can easily be tugged off and replaced by a trimming head for sideburns and edges of a beard or moustache. This razor is quieter than my 7000 series and still delivers a fairly nice shave with minimal razor burn in a few places I had to go over longer than others. It charges from a USB power source that I hope you, like most people have an abundance of, but if you dont you will need to purchase one. No power block or charging source is provided with the razor. But a proprietary end USB on the other end cord is provided. In the box you will find the triple shaving head and protective cover, the sideburn trimmer head, and the cord for the USB power source that you must provide and thats it. No cleaning brushes or combs of any sort are included and neither is any sort of case for travel. But it does have a travel lock feature to keep it from powering on in your luggage. Its pretty basic but would make an OK first electric razor as some dont stick with an electric an no use buying the top of the line to begin with and have it end up in a drawer somewhere and not be used.

The shaver itself is a great product. However, I was annoyed enough to deduct 1 star when I went to charge it and realized only a USB charging cable is included, no outlet-to-USB adapter. I temporarily used my cellphone's charger and ordered a separate outlet-to-USB charger for the shaver. It wasn't a big additional cost, but it was an additional cost, nonetheless, and it seems ridiculous that Philips Norelco wouldn't include a charger which costs less than $3.00.

This is a real upgrade for me. I have been using an older model which was good but this newer one is better. Shaves better, feels better in your hand , is lighter weight. Just better.

Love the long, slim grip, makes it easier to hold. Works great in the shower. Charge lasts up to 4 days with daily use. Attachment is quick and easy to exchange out.

I've found this design far superior to the flat head electric shavers. I've never used the 3 head style before so no idea how it compares. It's worked well, easy to use, lightweight so easy to handle, handles the curves of my face well, cleaning is easy, not loud, and simple to recharge. Giving it 4 stars, not 5, because I do have to go over section multiple times, which might be normal for all electric razors.

What stands between us and the apes? The shaving industry. Without the likes of the Norelco X5004 and its ilk, there would be almost no limit to the number of men (and some women) who might be significantly overgrown with unwanted hair. The Phillips/Norelco X5004 fulfills its destiny to denude the face and body with its excellent cutting mechanism, water resistance and elegant, but slightly fragile-looking exterior. What you get in the box is the shaver with the standard head attached, the sideburn attachment, the protective plastic covering for the standard head, a cable with a USB A to a two-pin connector and annoyingly absent, is an actual wall charger to plug in the shaver as well as any form of case or bag. So, if you don’t happen to have an extra 5 volt charger available, I guess you were not meant to shave. Perhaps this new Apple-inspired norm of not including chargers with new products is ecologically friendly, but it can be downright annoying if you are not expecting it. At least Apple warns its customers with its logo by showing a small missing section of its fruit, depicting what I now assume is representing the missing charger from some of their products. The good: This product works well and without comparisons to previous generations of products or other models in the Norelco/Phillips lineup, I would recommend it. (Read on.) The shape of this new head conforms well to the face, works efficiently and offers a close, clean shave no doubt due to the newly designed and implemented multidirectional cutting system. The sideburn trimmer also functions well and did not catch or pull any hairs. The overall shape fits the hand well and seems ergonomically supportive. The waterproof capabilities only add the icing on the cake for versatility and convenience. The not as good: Upon opening the box, I found it strange that the packaging did not provide space for the standard head’s protective cover to be snapped into place. Fortunately, the packaging is sized sufficiently to allow transport safely, even with some minor shipping damage as my unit experienced. The elegant, yet wholly fragile-looking attachment methodology worries me for future travel rigor as well as endless exchanges with the sideburn trimmer. Perhaps my use of the two attachments is not the norm, but with a previous Norelco shaver that I have lived with for many years, I constantly switch back and forth with the pop-up attachment that deals with the errant hair that has outgrown its neighborhood. I can’t imagine this new product surviving as long as my robustly-built older one that allowed for the trimmer to be popped up and down with the flick of a finger as opposed to a delicate decapitation. Another anomaly that could prove annoying over extended use, are the times when the battery’s charge has depleted and your shaving needs haven’t. Like right before you need to leave for work and you have a half-shaved face. This unit does not allow you to continue your shave while the device is plugged in to charge, unlike my previous Norelco/Phillips shaver which would happily continue to get your hair evened out while charging. Also, be aware that although the connectors that come on older Norelco shavers and this new one appear very similar, they are not either mechanically or electrically compatible. The Norelco 5000 unit uses 5 VDC and the older Norelco product uses 16VDC. Conclusion: I would not consider this new unit to be as durable or travel capable as my old one. The inconvenience of constantly removing and replacing the two included heads can only lead to heartbreak, as either the fragile looking attachment mechanism will eventually give out, or the frustration of continually changing the heads will lead to the shaver’s ability to fly. I would not personally recommend this model/configuration based on my past experience with other Phillips/Norelco products. But, for those having no previous experience with earlier models, or built-in or pop-up attachments, they will probably be impressed with the shave achieved with this model. Fortunately, there are other models in the Phillips/Norelco lineup that solve the pop-up trimmer issue as well as offering a travel case and I would seriously consider those models before this one. One model is the Shaver 5400 also known as the S5880/81 that also seems to be priced similarly to the X5004/84 model reviewed here.

I bought the Philips Norelco 5000X and I am very pleased with the purchase. Here is my experience: Performance: The machine is powerful and shaves very close to the skin. Design: It feels very sturdy and has a great grip; it doesn't feel cheap at all. Battery: The battery life is impressive and lasts a long time. Recommendation: based on my usage, this shaver performs perfectly if you shave every 2 to 3 days.
