I have been using air fryers for many years now. I love how quick and easy they are to use. This one is no exception!
You can pretty much plug it in and go right out of the box. All you have to do is put the mesh plate in the bottom of the basket and you are ready to go. It really doesn't get much simpler than that!
I decided to get this air fryer mainly because of the larger size, and the shape of the basket. The one I previously had was a much smaller size, and the basket was round. It worked very well, but it was very frustrating if you were trying to cook for 2 or 3 people. You just couldn't fit 2 steaks in it, or 4 burgers in it. Something would always be creeping up the side of the round basket and it just didn't work! In VERY glad Philips decided to go with the rectangular shape for their basket. Now I could easily fit 2 or 3 steaks in there or 3 or 4 burgers without any problem.
I ran a test with a few of the things I used to cook in my old air fryer and they seemed to cook in about the same time and tasted pretty much the same way.
I do love that this has a digital timer and temperature on it. My old one just had a dial for the temp and one for the time. So I never really knew exactly what temperature I was on or how long I was cooing for. With this one I can now write down that cook a certain food for x amount of minutes on a certain temperature. That will make life so much easier!
This one also has a few presets on it, although I don't really find them to be very useful. Depending on portion size and things like that the temperature and time will always fluctuate so the presets will never bee all that accurate. Id suggest keeping a little note pad and log cooking times and temperatures in it so you'll get a better idea of how long it takes to cook things.
The footprint of this thing isn't too bad. For it being a "XXL" size I was concerned it would take up tons of counter space...but it really isn't that bad. Its a little over a foot square of counter space you will need for it.
Now I will mention the one thing I dislike about it. On my other one, and other ones I have seen when you pull the basket out, the machine automatically shuts off. This one doesn't, so that would make me a little concerned if you had children in the house that like to get their hands in things. For this one you have to push the black dial to pause the machine, then open the basket and then push the dial again to start it back up. Otherwise if you just open the basket mid-cook to shake around your fries or whatever, the machine continues to run and there is hot air blowing out.
Apart from that small oversight, I think this is a great machine and will definitely have me and my family cooking faster, easier, and healthier!

Had been using and really happy with a previous model Philips Air Fryer. I loved that this XXL model is significantly larger and opens up many more cooking possibilities. Other features that I really like are the digital temperature control vs. the dial on my old one. It makes for much more precise control of temps. The preset modes are also nice to quickly select a time and temp for a variety of food types. I also really like the design of the attached drawer which helps keep the basket in place. With the old design the entire basket easily slid out with nothing to lock it into place which caused it to fall out onto the floor during transport a couple of times. The hidden cord storage area is a nice touch as well. Cooking results have been excellent for just about everything I have tried.
If there is one area that could be improved it is the user manual. I didn't like the way that it is laid out with relatively small print and sections that are hard to follow. Also illustrations on front page not explained until page 8 and there were references to figures (26-31) that I could not find anywhere in the booklet. Fortunately the controls were mostly friendly enough to figure out by trial and error because that was easier than trying to find in the manual in some cases. Good news is that the quality of the fryer makes up for the deficiencies in the manual.
