It really sounds great with my I would recommend to get all pioneer products from best buy.

Happy with sound and ease of use, however have not been able to get the remote to work properly with the Apple TV. It seems to send a double signal, push a button once and it sends twice to the unit. Tried numerous times to program, just ended up using the iPhone as a remote for them both.

Very good quality receiver. Not top of the line, but not just average, either. Fair wattage plus Marvel's HDMI "routing card". This is a nearly a literal steal.

I just started using it. There are a lot of features I'm still learning and many more I've yet to try.

this is a great receiver, particularly to go with a 4k television.

Not using all the capability right now but nice to have the flexibility to grow into it in the future.

This receiver is perfect for my needs!! I sounds great with my Yamaha 3 way 8" surround speakers!

first pioneer receiver ever owned. must say I am impressed.

I originally purchased a Sony receiver for $500 on sale. I didn't care for it and brought it back. I then purchased this one and what a difference. The set up is easy and the options are fantastic. My picture is even clearer and the 3D is amazing. The sound is better than my old, and the last receiver I purchased. There is a lot you can do with this receiver so it is important to read through and understand the manual so you can utilize all the features. You can even adjust any lip sync issues, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet.

Initially I purchased the VSX-44 elite receiver but ended up returning it for this Gem. I upgraded for the better mcacc interface and more wattage. It comes with software installed called AVnavigator which greatly aids in setting up the system by walking you through the process to get your gear going. I am certainly not an audiophile but to me this system sounds awesome after letting the mcacc software calibrate your gear. It has multiple zone features that I am excited to get going in my home. The build quality seems much better than my last receiver with a better fit, finish and materials used. Being able to control it from my iOS devices is a plus but the remote that comes with the unit works great as well. I am very happy with my purchase and would certainly reccomend the VSX-80 to anyone looking for a really good entry level 7.2 channel receiver.

thought I was getting a top notch receiver instead all I got was a trip back to Best Buy it never worked

My favorite part of this unit is the multi room/multi task feature. I have two high-definition televisions in different rooms. You can watch your blu-ray player that's hooked up to the unit in a different room while someone else is watching cable in the main room. I purchased a 35 foot 4k HDMI cable and ran it through the walls into the second room. This also saves you from having two cable boxes and paying the extra monthly cost. Other units I've looked at only mirror what's on the main TV and some of them don't even send sound via the 2nd zone HDMI cable. The remote that comes with the unit is pretty good and has a learn feature. However, I use U-verse TV and I can't find remote codes to program directly. So I purchased a Harmony Universal One remote that works great. The Harmony remote has an old VSX-80TXV program that's NOT the same! You have to find last years Pioneer Elite model and select that one. I'm sure Harmony will update this soon if they haven't already. As far as as the sound is concerned for audio of this receiver, it's fantastic! You should be somewhat tech savvy and use the Pioneer app to set your speakers up and use the equalizer to set the tone that best. suits your ears. With the app you have great visual tools to control the sound, speaker set up, upscaling, multiroom task, input selector, and a lot more. Pandora works great, AirPlay works great, Internet radio works great, and I wouldn't know about the Bluetooth because the Bluetooth adapter does not come with this unit I'm still debating whether I want to spend the hundred dollars to get it. I only use Apple products so the Bluetooth is not too necessary for now. Another feature I like about this receiver is even though it's a 7.2 out, you can use your zone 2 audio as virtual speakers for the main room giving you a virtual 9.2, high front speakers or wide speakers option. Anyway, I've only had this unit for about two weeks so I'm still learning.

Upgrading my older living room theater system.I was looking at being better than budget but not breaking the bank. I did research on Magnolia products and choose most of them. I purchased the Epson 5030UB Projector. Samsung 3D Blu-ray player, Pioneer VSX-80 receiver and the Definitive Technology ProCinema600 5.1 speaker system. The Pioneer VSX-80 has enough power and then some. It has features that I wanted, with a sale price tag that made it a shoe in.
