I replaced a Onkyo A/V receiver that had a failed HDMI board. This was a great replacement with lots of included features. The Bluetooth and built in Wifi are great for connecting to your IPod/IPad. App for set up and App for controlling A/V receiver is awesome. Very Happy with purchase.

Looking to replace 10 year old system - did research and loved this one because of spec (amps) but did not want to spend the money. Visiting local BB to see what else they had and found this on sale around $550.00. Grabbed it and very happy.

I can't say too much, as my receiver was dead when I installed it. I had a flashing blue light, and the manual mentioned a critical error, and to contact customer service. Best Buy is awesome enough to just take it back, I upgraded to another model.

    Great receiver also for music

So, a couple of disclaimers: (1) I think digital amps have come a long way. (2) Good equipment does music and HT. Having said that, this receiver initially caused me a lot of frustration: the bluetooth receiver is very bad, the wireless is hard to setup, the receiver itself is hard to setup, Airplay takes forever to start. Now, for me all that did not matter in the end because, I do not want Airplay because it sends compressed music. As for BT, I would like AptX BT, but well I can't have it. I use the receiver for music in 2.1 mode and I bi-amp a pair of bookshelf speakers. The combo Sabre Premier + Class D3 paired with a Sonos Connect allows me to play Tidal music lossless and I have to say the sound is sweet and very musical. The Sonos has a more consistent UI to streaming and also allows my wife to use the receiver. She does not care about the iAvcontrol :-). Before buying this one I bought the VSX-45 which I returned. I then went to the magnolia section and listened using lossless music from my computer as a source for several hours comparing all receivers, regardless of price. The SC-91 surpassed all the Marantz or Denons in there and matched the Arcam and Yamaha Aventage which cost two or three times the $$ as well as matched the SC-95 which has a Sabre Ultra. To my ears I could not find material that would show me significant difference between the Sabre Premier and the Ultra, I am sure there is, but within the music I listen I could not find. I was between this one and the SC-95, which has Sabre Ultra, 9 amps and preamp outputs, but it would cost me $500 more and I suspect it has the same frustrations with BT / wireless, so I went for the SC-91. So, despite the failings, a great receiver, in my case used for music mostly.

After upgrading to a new 4k tv, I wanted to upgrade my receiver with 4k capability. I replaced a yamaha rxv2600 with the Pioneer elite SC91. What a huge improvement! I have been amazed at how much better the channel seperation and overall audio quallity is. I have been amazed at how much better all of the surround processing is. The power delivery is also incredible and I susspect it exceeds the ratings Pioneer has published. The video processing is also excellent. The set up is really the only area where I wasn't thrilled by this receiver. I suggest having a bottle of wine open and 60-90 minutes set aside to set up and calibrate this system. The iphone app was of modest help. I acutally did better through just some experimentation and trial and error. In hind site, I should have sprung the extra $50 for the geek squad to set it up when I had them come to mount the 75" TV ....Now that the set up is done though, I'm very happy with the results. Once the set up was done, all the operational functions are quite simple. You won't be unhappy with this unit!

It came to basically two for me as it was time to upgrade from my VSX1123k Pioneer receiver. Looked at the Elite series and what Marantz had to offer. Considered the VSX 45 and VSX 90 and the Marantz 1506 and 1606 units. But I stumbled onto an awesome deal on the SC 91 with the D3 amplifier This was a dream come true always wanted an Elite or Marantz but could not afford one years past. I only paid $679.99 for what was an open box item that was listed as being in excellent condition, the only thing I found is that packaging was in rough shape but the unit was in mint condition WOW! Needless to say is that the unit is both sonically and visually amazing glad I went the extra mile and didn't settle! Get the one you want especially if it's within reach by a few more dollars! I suggest doing the awesome calibration after you do the software update. To all those who give receivers less than 5 stars I didn't break a sweat setting this baby up consult with someone concerning the wifi and whatnot if you can. Movies and hi def broadcasts look great, I'm using this with a Samsung UN55JU8550 4K set simply incredible picture! So run get yours no regrets!!!

Too difficult to set up and get working properly. It still doesn't work. Salesperson talked me into something I can't use. Have to have a technology degree to figure it out.
