I ahve not been able to listen to a better unit than this one. The frequency rates and balance ability is excellent. The unit does not have to be turned to max volume to hear all the ranges of sound as it was intended to be heard. A very good buy.

Powering Dahquist DQ-10. It will drive the speakers, but not enough to tickle their best qualities.

I bought this as my 4K transition needed to support HDCP 2.2, and my previous rcvr did not. Much better user interface than the prev model, added air play, 3 hdcp 2.2 ports, and plenty of power to make some noise.
Would buy again. Hope I dont have to upgrade again soon....

Item was bought as a floor model. All accessories were included minus, the original packaging. Item had to be returned due to non working HDMI ports. The reviews on this AVR were great, I would recommend purchasing a new as opposed floor model

Pioneer is still an awesome product. But make sure you are calm and in a patient mood to step through the instructions to not only hook everything up but once you turn it on. The instruction manual only takes you so far. Overall very pleased with the product.

I had a pioneer Elite PD-65 when it first came out and that is when I knew Elite was going to be a contender in the high end audiophile business. I've owned several Elite products since, along with Marantz, Krell, Bryston, you name it, all it get better quality sound and realism. When my house got stuck by lightening, it gave me the reason to upgrade to the new SC-LX501. Didn't really know what to expect, because this was the first Class D home receiver for Pioneer at this level. I have owned Class D amps for cars from Pioneer and great equipment.
My review... WOW... easy to setup, I love this one much more than Elite VSX-90, which was awesome, but using the system interface to adjust audio and speaker settings was not intuitive. The SC-LX501 is intuitive and the on screen display is sooooo much easier.
Sound, once you get the MACC dialed in correctly using either auto or manual, this SC-LX501 is magical. Great system and the blue tooth connection for the iPhone to play music is great. The only beef, if I have one is that using my IR for managing my system, its difficult to use the remote left and right arrow to determine where you are (which function), there is a lot of lag time when switching functions (dvd to net to bluetooth)... That's my only issue, otherwise, this is perfect. I couldn't be happier with my upgrade.

About a year ago I went to Magnolia and bought a 3.1 system with Martin Logan 35xt's a motion 8 and motion subwoofer. I also bought a refurbished Marantz SR-7008 which was "factory certified" ignoring the warning of my Magnolia rep who said these had major issues and to be wary. Biggest regret of my life! Within 2 months the receiver started shutting down. Took it in for repairs which took two weeks. Got it back and after two days it started shutting down again. This time a month for repairs because parts on backorder. Finally Marantz decides to send me a different refurbished unit. I get it and a month into using it. It starts shutting down again... Marantz sends me a 3rd refurbished unit and I unpack it and start going through set up and the subwoofer port is broken out of the box!!! I demanded a different model so they send me the SR-7009 refurb. Worked fine for about 4 months and then the HDMI board goes out in it. Fed up I went to BestBuy and bought this puppy. After listening to it next to Marantz this thing went toe to toe with ease. It also uses a digital amp which reduces heat production significantly and allows for longer life of the components. The Marantz was so hot I could roast marshmallows over it.
I must say that this doesn't have as fancy of audio set up like Marantz but ironically it seems to out perform in every way. The subwoofer was a huge problem for me on the Marantz which couldn't seem to handle the bass without making the sub dance across the floor. The pioneer handles it FLAWLESSLY. Not once have I been concerned the bass was getting out of control. This thing is amazing, cheaper than Marantz and better too in my opinion.
