Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the Elite 1665W's sound quality, ease of use, and powerful performance, with many praising its ability to handle various audio formats like Dolby Atmos and 4K video. However, some customers expressed concerns regarding the receiver's heat generation and the design of the remote control. The high price point was also cited as a potential drawback by a few users. Overall, the positive feedback on audio performance and ease of setup outweighs the negative comments.

This is the way to go! I have an Onkyo receiver, the 2009 top off the line. It gets so hot that I have to put a 120mm computer fan in the top. The Pioneer Elite series are the best receiver you can buy. Not only because they look and sound beautiful, but the technology Class D2 is amazing. No more 120mm fan running in the top to cold down the receiver and zero problem like the Onkyo HDMI board, because the heat. I hope Onkyo Engineers learn how to make a real high end receiver and they didn’t make the same mistake they did with the Onkyo Receiver line. Yes! Onkyo bought Pioneer Receiver line.

Only reason I bought this is because it had solid 4k upscaling and the history of pioneer in the sound industry. Coming from a Sony that I did enjoy but was looking to go to the next tier. Well within 2 months this I had nothing but erroneous hdmi issues to include random switching. Loss of signal. And loss of sound. Just to get anything to work now I have to plug all my inputs into my TV. And even then it still switches randomly. If I could return I would but of course I'm outside my Best Buy return window and am At the mercy of sending off a 40lb receiver to somewhere to get fixed.

I originally had the previous Pioneer Elite Receiver...the last one before 4K was introduced. This is a great upgrade. This is now an IOT device but one of the things I didn't like is that it collects information to be sent back to Pioneer. Not a fan but the alternative is you don't allow this option have manually click 'don't accept' every time you turn on the unit. Other than that it has worked great. Sound and picture are processed through the device just fine.

Not happy with this. I use it as a multizone amp/receiver. The sound is very good (Bose and Polk speakers). But, the connectivity sucks. Remote is infrared rather than bluetooth or wifi. Multi-zone is finicky and does not often connect to the different speakers as indicated. Built-in hardware/software for streaming services is slow, drops signals and sometimes just doesn't start. Wouldn not buy it again. Would buy multiple more affordable amp/receivers and hook up Sonos

Overall I'm a little underwhelmed with this receiver. At this price point I expected more in terms of flexibility. I have four Definitive Technology towers with built in powered subs. This I am unable to set the crossover below 50 on this unit or by individual speaker. My 10 year old Denon I am replacing allowed these adjustments. I am likely going to exchange this unit for the Denon AVR-X6300H.

This is a great receiver however if you have DTV and have one of the newer 4k receivers you may have issues with sound skipping. I went through three of these receivers and all did the same thing. Changed to Marantz and problem solved.
