Best blu ray player to date

After returning two Sony S570 blu ray players in less than a week, I came upon the Pioneer Elite. What a difference! From the packaging (Pioneer even has tissue-like material covering the player's front panel) to performance, the player is pristene.
The picture is beautiful with higher resolution than previous players I've owned. The operation is quiet, also.
I bought it to connect with an Epson Powerlite 8100 projector.
A bonus: it was on sale for $399.99 The salesperson knocked down the price another $20!
As a stickler for quality, I would highly recommend the Pioneer Elite!
Am very pleased with my purchase!

Great Deal on a Rare Find

Great player at a great price (I paid $250 - normally $500). If you have an older receiver (HDMI 1.2) but want the benefits of 24 bit audio (or HD audio), you need to find a player that has both the DTS-HD and Master Dolby HD audio codes built in AND is capable of multi-channel audio out. As far as I know, there are only two players on the market that meet both requirements: Pioneer Elite and Oppo. The Oppo BluRay players start at $600 and the Pioneer Elite normally start at $500 - with the exception of a 50% off sale that Best Buy was having right before Christmas. I had no intentions of purchasing a Blu Ray player, but could not pass up this deal.
Image and sound are amazing, and set-up was straight forward. Internet connection was very simple (it has no wireless capability but requires a wire) but once physically connect to my router it automatically connected to the internet and started to download a firmware update from Pioneer. What could be simpler? It even does a better job of up-converting DVD movies to 1080i than my old Pioneer Elite 46V upconverting DVD player.
My only issue (and this could be due to own my inexperience with BluRay and not the player) is that most BluRay movies do not allow you to get to the top menu that easily while the movie is playing. This is something I could always do with DVD's (and 23FD does work as expected when it is playing a DVD) - so it is rather frustrating and thus the 4 star rating in what is otherwise a straight series of 5 stars.

The BDP-V6000 is a professional Blu-ray Disc player from Pioneer. It supports high-definition Blu-ray Disc as well as standard definition DVD media playback in both NTSC and PAL formats to provide flexible, reliable playback of domestic and international customer content in demanding applications. This Blu-ray Disc player is ideal for multiple applications and venues that require high-definition playback, such as digital signage, museums, video walls, houses of worship, public displays, and broadcast. The good things about this blu-ray player are:
* Serial RS-232C Support: Allows integrators to control the player through multiple external devices
* Enhanced Search Options: Users can navigate through a disc's title, chapter, and time code menus quickly and easily
* Plays 30, 25, and 24 frames per second (fps): Allows playback of 30, 25, and 24 fps HD movie playback on video displays that support this feature
* Professional Graphic User Interface (GUI): Pioneer incorporates a newly designed GUI for improved player setup and internal playlist operation
* BD-Live Capability: One GB of on-board memory allows new video content to be downloaded to the player without having to remaster a BD disc; USB 2.0 port supports external devices to further expand BD-Live storage capacity
* Rack Mount Kit included

I have wanted to buy this BDP for some time but was hoping it would go on sale and it finally did! This was a great deal during the 50% off sale over the holidays - what a buy! Matches very well with my Pioneer Elite receiver and Kuro plasma TV. The picture and sound quality are outstanding! Set-up was fairly easy too. So far no problems with disc compatability. Updating the firmware was easy. Very happy with the product so far!

Pioneer products always have great Audio and with the BD-23FD you get it all, great sound, fast loading, good upscaling of your dvds, and fanstastic 1080p Blu-Ray pictures. I found it easy to setup and you can make adjustments using the Tools function while the movie is playing.
I compared this unit to all the competetion and Pioneer at BestBuy is the convienent and Best way to go. (Pioneer BD-05, Oppo 83SE, Denon BDP-1610.) Thanks and Happy BDP hunting.

Got this to replace a Panasonic BD 30 and the differences was night and day. The first thing I noticed was how easy it was setting up. When I put in Star Trek the detail in the Black hole where the enemy ship was coming out is a awesome sight. You can see the wisps of energy out in space and it shows up very well. It has audiophile grade caps in it and Burr-Brown DACs which is unusual in a player of this price. This is a Audiophile and Videophile unit throughout and will hold its own against NAD and Marantz.

It is better than a PS3 for video and audio

This is a definite improvement form the ps3 for movies and cds. The video improvement was not dramatic but noticeable, however the audio was. Most notably in the low end or bass. The speed is not terrible so I rate this high. I also payed much less for an open box (160.00) and makes it a 5 star value. Pio rocks, to bad no more tv's.

I own an older Sony BDP along with a Sony Play Station so I wanted to upgrade my home theater with the latest BDP since my system is a few years old now. I researched for months and compared BDP's and found that for the money, this was the "best buy". This BDP has great pisture, sound and is one of the fastest loading BDP's I've seen. If you have the funds and want a quality BDP, this is the one to get.

Wow!! Best Blu-Ray Player hands down!

I just bought and connected this unit yesterday and put it through it's paces watching Blu-Ray movies until the wee hours of the morning. I have two other Blu-Ray players including a Sony BDP-S360 in my living room and a Pioneer BDP-120 in my master bedroom. I put this unit in my media room connected to my Toshiba 53" projection tv and my Pioneer Elite surround sound receiver and Boston Acoustic speakers. Simply put this is the best sounding surround sound movie watching experience I ever witnessed. The picture is AWESOME and the sound INCOMPARABLE! This player blows every other player away! Paired with an Elite receiver and great speakers it will transform your room into an unforgettable home theater experience. Don't walk, run and get this player! You'll be glad you did. I can't wait to get the Elite 60" tv monitor to complete my setup!

Fantastic Experience

I was skeptical at first, spending this amount of money on a Blu-Ray player, but I am glad I did. The picture quality is outstanding on my Samsung 46". This unit easily out distances itself from my previous Samsung Blu-Ray, which is now in my daughter's room.
The myths about the slow load times are just that, myths. The quality of picture far outweighs any slow load times you may experience, but so far I have not experienced the slow load times. Make sure you hook up the digital audio output as component connections will not do it justice.

This is an average BD player. It's slow and not one disc I've played has been sble to reach a site for BD-Live. I have a solid internet connection but every site just gives an error to try later. The remote is poorly made. The text is too small and dark making it very hard to read. Could have at least had a lighted remote. I may return this unit for something much cheaper with the same features.
