Acquired this unit as an upgrade from a VSX-LS305. Initial unit arrived defective (front panel screen would not illuminate). Best Buy quickly swapped for another unit. All is working well, with more power for my main use, 4K Blu-ray movie sound. Have had several Pioneer units over the last 20 years and have been very satisfied.

I replaced a 10 year old version of this receiver & could not be more pleased. I was a little concerned the power is listed about 20 watts per channel less than my old one, but obviously technology has more than taken care of that. The clarity is great & music has a much more depth of sound than my old one. Set up was also a breeze.

This is an excellent home theater receiver. I paired it with a Klipsch Dolby Atmos speaker system and the sound is incredible. Great value for the money.

I purchased this receiver to replace my grandfather's Integra receiver which decided to die pretty abruptly. This is one of the only receivers in the store that included multiple component video inputs, and enough inputs for all of random his devices (not just HDMIs).
It took a lot of careful labelling and wire-routing, but I was able to get it set up and working. The controls were straight-forward, and my 80 year old grandpa was able to figure out how to switch between the different inputs. I love that it turns on when it detects a source turning on, so he doesn't have to fiddle with 2 remotes just to get started.
The interface is intuitive and I was able to configure his surround speaker system without issue. It was worth the price tag for us, and I'm confident that the device will hold up for him.

The receiver itself was amazing. The customer service and geek squad protection is a one star. The only reason I gave a two stars was because the receiver itself was great until it broke within 10 days of purchasing it and was deemed defective and now it’s been 21 days since the item has been in the repair warehouse facility geek squad, corporate admits that there is a delay feel like they are literally just wanting me to get a refund I want an exchange and unfortunately now it looks like Best Buy is phasing out the pioneer LX 505 and from conversations I’ve had so far it looks like they don’t even wanna give me an exchange after I’ve waited this long to even get the equipment back or something

Another great Pioneer top of the line receiver! Very easy setup and connection to all smart devices. Turn on any connected item and the receiver will turn on! Very nice!

To be honest, my first choice in getting a new AV receiver was the Onkyo TX RZ50. However these are simply in very short supply and for me, completely unavailable. My research indicated that the sister company, Pioneer, has almost the exact same qualifications / specifications available in the Pioneer VSX-LX505. Retail price was slightly higher but still much better than anything else I found. I decided to go ahead with the Pioneer model which was available. I am not at all disappointed and am glad I didn't wait any longer. The performance is excellent and provides exactly what I needed for my 5.1.4 setup. I am still getting used to the difference from the Yamaha unit I replaced. My only criticism is with the Android software for Pioneer which I found somewhat lacking. If you don't need to control it by smartphone I found it to be an excellent product with a good warranty of 3 years.

Have always used Pioneer home audio. This updated technology model has all the bells and whistles you may be looking for to upgrade your A/V receiver. Great product.

The Pioneer Elite 505 is awesome ,The features and power I need to run a 9.2 theater room. The set-up was quick and painless. The Dirac is included on the unit is a bonus. Atmos movies sound fantastic. Very happy with this purchase. I recommend this product.

I purchased this unit in Jan 25. I have 8 other Elite models and have always been extremely impressed. I hooked it up a few weeks ago to find out it is absolutely amazing... except that the main right channel is obviously defective and produces a low garble at low levels and major distortion at higher volumes. After many hours of testing wires and speakers in a hope it was a component issue, I confirmed that it's likely an internal connection issue or a degraded part internally. As I paid a pretty good penny for it, and from a company that touts customer service, I decided I'd reach out and see about getting an exchange. Boy was I wrong. Best Buy just stonewalled me and is pushing me towards Manufacture warranty. I'm a little confused on how selling a defective unit becomes warranty within 90 days. I didn't purchase it from the manufacture, I purchased it through best buy, now after 90 days maybe, but i just purchased this. Needless to say I won't be making any more large purchases through best buy. I could have got this unit directly from the manufacture for the same price with a hassle free warranty. If you're looking at this unit please look at different companies to purchase from. Pioneer told me that best buy should have swapped it without hesitation.

It has all the whistles and bells, but when switching channels or streaming while the videos are uploaded, the audio takes about 3 seconds delay to come on. Made replacement, still encounters same audio delay issue.

This AV receiver was recommended by both our friends at Geek Squad and Magnolia reps. It replaces a 10 year old reciever and separate amp. The sound has significantly improved and ease of use has increased.

I have really enjoyed using this receiver. I have it setup as 7.1.2 and have been very pleased with the sound quality especially after running Dirac calibration. I would recommend this product. I have a mixture of Elac bookshelf speakers and center channel along with 2 Klipsch floor speakers and Sonance ceiling speakers. Finally SVS ported sub. Only complaint was setting up Dirac because the mic is very sensitive it would error when it heard any little noise.
