Customers are saying

Customers regard the picture quality as a major highlight, with comments praising its excellence across various media. However, some users found the remote control to be less than ideal, citing issues with its intuitiveness and functionality. The remote's design also drew some criticism. Improvements to the remote's usability would enhance the overall user experience.

Simply outstanding picture quality. Solid build. Does not have built-in wifi, while apps are limited to Youtube, Netflix and Pandora. Remote is not very intuitive.

I bought this Blu-ray to use with my stereo

I bought this Blu-ray player to use with my stereo for audio only. I use it to listen to concerts so I can have the best sound possible. When viewing the same Blu-ray discs I use a different player which is connected to my TV. I have external speakers connected to the TV, but they are not nearly of the quality as those connected to my stereo system that is located on a different level of the house. The sound is excellent and the player tracks all the discs I have tried very well. It is also very easy to use.

I had an LG which lasted three years. When it died I bought a Samsung which lasted three weeks. The Pioneer was a little more expensive, but it seems to be a fairly high quality unit. Picture quality is very good. Overall it seems like a very good unit for the price. I will see how long it holds up.

I own a Sony Blu-Ray player (first generation), but the Pioneer player loads disks faster and has a better picture. The Sony player is attached to a 55" Samsung LED tv, while the Pioneer is attached to an older 47" Olevia LCD tv, and the picture is better. I will be switching players to see if the Pioneer delivers a better picture on the Samsung.

This is a great little player that starts up quick and quiet and has a good picture output. We bought the unit to add 3D capability to our Home Theater and it does a good job. A couple times it would fall out of sync going from the menu to the movie bit it is fixed by starting the movie a little bit in.

Pioneer has hit the ball out of the ball park yet again. Great picture quality from both DVD and Blue-Ray. the one problem with it is, that it requires an ethernet cable to get Wi-Fi.

Some would say I didn't use this product as it was intended. I purchased the unit to replace an aging CD player as it also plays SACD's. What I found was the CD playback was not as good as my OLD Sony ES Player. I did not get try SACD's because I could not get past the harshness of sound on regular CD's. I'm sure this makes an excellent Blu-Ray or DVD player. So if that's you intended use, by all means buy this player. If you're looking for a cheap way to get into SACD's, I'm afraid this isn't your player.

This is a great DVD player right out of the box! Fantastic picture quality and has everything you need, except for a wireless connection built-in. You can buy it separately though. I chose not to, just because my TV comes with wi-fi ready apps and a web browser. So it wouldn't be necessary to have an adapter for the DVD player. I still own a 12 year old pioneer hd DVD player that I had to upgrade since it wasn't 3d. The best thing about pioneer is that you cAn practically play any type of format. It hasn't failed me yet. It even plays PAL format disks which are important to my parents because they bring back media recorded outside of the country often, and you don't have to trouble yourself converting them to NTSC format. Picture quality is amazing as usual, and audio is on par with any other players on the market. I'm running on a 70" led 3d tv. Another minor drawback is although it's slim, pioneer stool hasn't had the notion to make them a little more compact like Panasonic and Samsung. They probably will though in the near future. Other than that, I could definitely say this is a solid, dependable product. Thanks again pioneer for making my life a bit easier!

    BDP-150 is no Oppo

If you need a player to tidy you over until you can purchase the Oppo, whose players playback more formats than this, buy this player for $129 or less. Otherwise, it is a waste of money. The player is very loud, has stalling, does not seek properly on large files over the network, DLNA is not plug n play (still haven't figured it out), it does not use an IEC power cable, it's analog DAC is pretty weak, remote is flimsy, firmware updates can be performed hardwire vs USB, ID3 tags do not display correctly, file playback is not gapless to the next track, AND THE MENU BROWSER SUCKS. You cannot just browse content on a disk, USB, or network. You have to indicate that you are specifically looking for music, then browse for the file you want. You can't just look in the folder and select the file and expect the player to know it is a music or video file. It's pretty dumb for a player of 2012 not to be able to do that. My old Oppo DV-980 from 2008 could understand the file that was selected. Pioneer has a long way to go in making flexible budgeted devices. Poor Product for Pioneer USA

I was looking forward to adding another Pioneer product to my HT. This product has to many issues. Remote can't control all device functions all the time, no analog outputs, minimal apps, no optical input. Even though it can play SACD's, that is not enough to make it a decent 3D player. Pioneer missed the boat on this one.

Not the Quality Product I was Expecting

My Sony BDPS590 player just broke, so I figured I would try another player to see if it was more reliable and thought the Pioneer would be it. I was very wrong. I pressed the power button 5 times before it turned on, but not before unplugging it and then plugging it back in. When I wanted to eject a disc it was a repeat of the power button and when I attempted to play a blu-ray disc it never loaded. I played a CD and when it was spinning it was a nosiey transport as i could hear it spinning from almost 10 feet away. Lastly it says it has a brushed aluminum front, but it is really plastic that's look-a-like aluminum so it scratches easily. I also had a replacement of my sony (same model# on hand to see which player was better and I did not run into any of the problems I did with the Pioneer. Loaded quickly, turned on/off and ejected with one push of the button and was quiet when it was spinning a disc. I would recommend the Sony any day over the pioneer plus its significantly less and has a ton of internet content. I recommned buying the 4 year warranty, as I did, to be on the safe side (luckily I was within my return 60-day return period as a primier member) which is still less than the pioneer by $50.
