This cord is necessary for the optimum use of your phone with the Appradio3. This didn't come with the radio and cost and extra $35. I didn't find this out until my installation appointment and took 7 days to get it into the store. I then had to come back in so they could remove my radio for the install of the cord. The cords connection to the phone is not very tight and the slightest movement can cause it to come loose. Once attached, it allows full use of the Appradio with your phone and there are some decent apps. Honestly, the radio and phone should operate solely on bluetooth which would eliminate the need for a phone specific cord that cannot be swapped easily. If I upgrade to a new phone, I'll need to order another cord, schedule an appointment to have my radio removed just so the new cord can be connected to the back of the radio. All in all, it's a necessary item for the radio and it really shouldn't be. Poor design but it works as they intended it to.

It's very easy to install. It is a must have for connecting your IPhone or Android.

Cable performs perfectly with the Pioneer App Radio if you still have a 4S
