I've been a fan of PIXAR's work for years, but I didn't realize just how long they've been around! This collection of all their short films is a great way to look back and see just how humble the beginnings of technology were and how its progressed over the years! That being said, the fact of the matter is that unless you watch all the commentary, you'll be done with this disc in about an hour! If this were $15, it'd be a steal, but I think $20 (MAYBE $25) would be a more acceptable price for the collection. When the price comes down, I'd recommend getting it, but for now only die-hard PIXAR fans need apply!

Here's an essential Blu-Ray for any Disney/Pixar fan! This Blu-Ray includes the first ever Pixar short film the short films made by Pixar up to 'Lifted' (which was shown with 'Ratatouille'). One of the treats is seeing how technology has advanced over time. Some of the earlier shorts may look dated now but all were cutting edge for thier time. Starting with with 'Knick Knack', the shorts really look good and starting with 'For the Birds' they look spectacular. The animation in 'Mater and the Ghost Light' is astounding, in High-Def you can actually see the details on thier paint jobs. 'Tin Toy', the first all CGI film to win an Oscar (and the genesis for 'Toy Story') is included in this collection. My favorite is 'Boundin', the musical story of a lamb who is helped out by a jackalope. The quality of reproduction is high for all the shorts, Disney did a nice job on the Blu-Ray transfers. A short documentary on Pixar is included in the extras. This is an nice informative piece that traces Pixar's history from a hardware company that made animated shorts to the Pixar of today which is, in my opinion, the world's premier animation studio. We may have to wait awhile for volume 2.

I became a fan of Pixar after seeing the movie "UP." I've seen several others since, Walt Disney's "PIXAR SHORT FILMS COLLECTION" looked interesting when I saw it in the store. It consisted of several shorts, some better than others, but none really great. In my opinion this should have been offered by Disney as a cheap promotional advertisement for like, five dollars.I would compare it to the Video game preview trial discs that allow you to try one or two levels of various games, except with those you had the option of going back and buying the game. The Video was unsatisfying.
