Easily excitable Neal Page (Steve Martin) is somewhat of a control freak. Trying to get home to Chicago to spend Thanksgiving with his wife (Laila Robins) and kids, his flight is rerouted to a distant city in Kansas because of a freak snowstorm, and his sanity begins to fray. Worse yet, he is forced to bunk up with talkative Del Griffith (John Candy), whom he finds extremely annoying. Together they must overcome the insanity of holiday travel to reach their intended destination.

I usually see this one once a year. Now I can watch it whenever. I don't really need to say much about it. Most people know.

One of the greatest movies with these two funny actors. It’s a classic comedy that everyone should see at least a few times.

Overall, it's a great, heartfelt movie with lots of laughs and love in typical John Hughes fashion. Although I had seen numerous clips through the years, and have friends that quote this movie often, it wasn't until 31 years after original release that I finally acquired the movie and gave it a proper watching... and I loved it! Just a warning for those out there that may be offended by profanity or have other friends/family members that may not particularly care for one particular string. If you prefer a safe holiday movie for everyone then perhaps "Home Alone" would be a better choice.

What can you dislike about the all star comedy duo? The blue ray is excellent quality that works great on my 4k uhd TV!

Though this is technically set around the holiday of Thanksgiving, it has found a home in a growing selection of holiday classics and lesser-knowns for our annual 12 Days of Christmas Movies which span the spectrum from Elf to White Christmas; Home Alone to Die Hard; Christmas Vacation to Krampus and the list goes on. No holiday season is complete without this Steve Martin and John Candy classic from the brilliant mind of John Hughes. Just keep the kiddos in the other room during the car rental scene.

Every time I watch this movie I laugh out loud, even though I can recite the dialog and know exactly what's coming. This is my all-time favorite movie. I already owned the regular DVD of this, but had to get it for Blu-Ray once I got a better TV - the 480P version looked terrible on the new 4K OLED. I especially like that this version includes the Digital copy so I can watch anytime without having to dig out the disc and it's HD quality.

In the pre-pandemic era, many people relied on traveling as a major job component. It had it's highs and lows. This movie exquisitly captures each and every low moment and negetive experience suffered by such travelers. John Candy and Steve Martin capture these lows and turn them into comedy highs, making this a comedy classic. It is funny! Beware, there are an un-countable number of F-bombs used at times. Not for kids nor some adults.

Two great names in comedy, one warm heartfelt (yet uncontrollably hilarious) movie! I really don't think I have to explain this movie, do I? Seriously, if you have not seen this by now... you must have JUST learned to read/obtained electricity/found a wormhole in the past that brought you here? I usually do not go through the extras but they were rather nice on this one. They give you a lot of background info that hasn't always been readily available... plenty of deleted scenes, commentary, making of, and quite a bit more! Well worth the money!

Planes Trains & Automobiles is a classic movie and a must see for any movie watcher. John Candy and Steve Martin are at their finest in this classic comedy about 2 guys who get stuck on their way home for Christmas. They pair up as a team, but no matter what form of transportation they use something always seems to go wrong. John Candy & Steve Martin were some of Saturday Night Lives leading comedians, and this movie falls in line with some of their finest comedic performances. Its a movie that is full of laughs. The Blu-ray edition of the movie includes extra cut footage, additional commentary & behind the scenes footage detailing the making of the movie. The Blu-Ray edition is a must have for the classic movie collector, or even the person who has never seen this movie before. Because once its over, you'll want more. This disc has all the extras.
