Too Beautiful for Words!!!!!!

This HD DVD is literally amazing. I would actually recommend buying an HDTV and an HD DVD player just to watch this dvd. The camera work on it is phenomenal. As I watched this dvd, I spent most of my time stunned at the types of things I was seeing.
Also, I think the whole soundtrack is very well mixed. The roar of a waterfall to the calm tranquility of a forest all sound amazing. I think this is a great dvd to use just to show off your equipment. For those who have never really seen anything in high definition, this dvd will leave them with their jaws dropped.
It includes 4 discs and 11 50-minute long episodes giving you a little over 9 hours of sheer high definition enjoyment. Take advantage of this online offer while you can. Transaction was flawless and shipping was prompt.

The HD-DVD version is a beautiful masterpiece. At first glance I fell in love with this collection. I am usually really cheap with spending money on movies since I only usually watch them once. With this 11 part collection I didn't care how much I would spend because it brings families together with the full 1080P resolution. Also it took 5 years to complete this collection, so it's for sure worth it. I actually start to forget that I was only in front of a hdtv screen, because of it's clarity. I love all of the time-lapse sequences they have. I am really picky about how a time-lapse sequence looks but the ones on this collection stole my heart. I will for sure watch this collection over and over. I give it to thumbs up, way up! Also I give it 5 out of 5 stars.

Reason to buy a HD DVD player

This series is a reason alone to buy an HD DVD player. The camera work is PRO and the shots they get are phenominal. The scenes are just long enough to be interesting without dragging on endlessly like one of those high-school doccumentaries you've seen in the past. If you've purchased an HDTV, this series will make that investment worthwhile, just make sure to open the coppy at the register, The Case has a tendancy to scratch the reading surface of the discs I've had 4 coppies opened and our local best buy was kind enough to let me take the undammaged disc's and combine them to make it a whole set.

Yes this is the most beautiful HD-DVD I own, and I don't watch Documentaries much. Yes I recommend everyone own this series, but which version? That is what i will cover in this review.
The HD-DVD/BluRay discs have the best picture available, and supplement this title extremely well, but....
The HighDef versions don't have any of the special features that the Standard DVD release contains, such as "Mini-Making of" episodes, and the "Future of Planet Earth" episode. This is a serious drawback.
Plus there is an American edition released by Discovery channel which uses a different Narrator. This version (English narrator) uses the metric system for all measurements stated, not a tremendously big deal, but notable nonetheless. Also the Narrator on these is quite hard to hear, we had to turn up our sound to twice its normal setting to make out what he was saying over the music.
So 5 stars for the series, 4 for the HighDef versions due to lack of features.

This miniseries is why HD was invented. I show this to my friends so they can see how amazing HDDVD is. Everyone who sees is breath-taken. The colors jump from the screen and many wide shots have so much detail in them its hard to put the majesty into words. That's why you just have to see it to believe it.

Hands down, the most incredible documentary on the planet. It deserves more than 5 stars. Watching it in HD makes it that much better. After viewing the series, no one could help but have a much better appreciation for the Earth. A must have for EVERYONE!!!!!

I purchased a 47" Westinghouse HDLCD and had to buy this set just to test the TV. It was amazing. The video itself is kinda repetitive, every part repeats a little bit from the others. But it is very nice to just relax and watch the perfect HD picture.
