This is one of the best DVD sets I have ever bought (and I like to buy 'em)! I watch all of the Discovery Channels, Travel Channel, Learning Channel, National Geographic & etcetera, whenever I have time. This collection still showed me many, many things I had never seen before, or could have ever imagined. I have watched animal and eco documentaries all of my life and I was amazed at the information new to this series. I highly recommend this collection for anyone. This would also be a great set for schools. I would think that teachers would love showing this series in the classroom. I don't own a Bluray DVD player just yet, just a progressive scan, but I watched the series on Discovery HD before I bought it. I might have to buy a Bluray now.

Just read the pros and cons section. This is some of the most beautiful photography you will EVER see for a documentary series like this. These people spent so much time and effort capturing this stuff on film, and it really shows. Also, they go in depth and tell you and show you a lot about this planet you never knew. AND, check out "The Blue Planet" if you get a chance...equally AMAZING!

I bought this as a Christmas Present for my girlfriend. We watched it the first night she got it. Wow! This is an amazing series. We only watched one of the DVD's but it is truly worth the money that I paid for it. I am looking forward to watching more DVD's like this series.

Truly the most spectacular, unbelievable film I've ever seen compared to any movie, TV show, music, live concert, that you have seen or can imagine. You cannot appreciate the earth you live on until you see this. A must see for every human being. I'm buying it as a gift for everyone on my Christmas list because I don't want them to miss it.

I am not a fan of buying series or even documentaries, I bought this for my wife who's a teacher, to use it in her classes. What a shock! Amazing! This is like having a small encyclopedia on Earth science in your dvd player. I am glad that we purchased and discovered this amazing BBC 11 episodes story, especially for my daughter - there could not be a better way to learn about our natural heritage, but by watching it.

We bought this for my parents because they love watching those nature shows on Discovery Channel. This Documentary from BBC was a sure hit with them and myself. We sat through about 4 nights just watching one dvd after the other and at then end were left wanting more. Hopefully BBC comes up with a second set or part II.

DO you have a HDTV? This is the perfect "accesscary" to your HDTV. Crystal clear, wonderfully filmed, and just awesome to watch. The greatest part of this DVD set is that it takes you everywhere, and shows you everything the earth has to offer. Species I have never seen, plus the ones your use to. This is an investment worth taking part in, you will be able to watch it over and over!

This is a great series and I was glad that I purchased it. Even if you don't sit and watch it minute-for-minute, it makes for a stunning background in a room while you are doing other activities or entertaining. The content is great and the narration is much better on this one (released by BBC) then the Sigourney Weaver (Discovery) one.

Appreciating the time and dedication it takes from these specialists makes the movie seem much more than a mere specail from tv, it is a documentary of great importance to the current state of the enviroment and the vigilance needed to repair our eco-footbprint.

This series was a pure joy. The dedication to bringing us some of the truly great shots and stories pays off big. I recommend this to anyone. It is breathtaking and shows our planet as wonderful and interesting. A real joy. Worth watching again and again.

This was a gift for my teenage son. He watches the DVDs over and over again. The images and image quality are amazing in this series. He calls it "Spectacular!" Highly, highy recommend this set.

You will enjoy this time and time again. I don't get tired of showing it off to all my friends who visit. They all love it and have now purchased their own set. Could not have made a better purchase.

Such a great end of the year activity. I have students who would never otherwise see such amazing footage. Love that geography and science is easily seen throughout the segments.

This is the most amazing nature documentary I have ever seen. The camera work is absolutely beautiful and the producers got shots of many things that have never been filmed before.

This is a wonderful DVD I would reccommend to any school or household due to it's wonderful cinematology, clear narration, and the abundance of knowledge provided.

This Planet Earth series is nothing less than amazing. The scenes are just incredeble. Very infromative and entertaining this deserves 5 stars.

This by far has got to be the most awesome film ever shot. I was engulfed from the moment I started watching. The scenery is gorgeous.
