Had huge expectations on this series that came out after 10 years - it started great with first few episodes and then kind of went on - not so interesting rest of the series.

4K is amazing and it had some spectacular scenes. Overall, however, I liked the first one better.

This is a must have if you have seen the original. Really shows what a 4k HDR TV can do.

Beautiful 4k master piece I would recommend it to show off your system.

Interesting choice for watching on tv buy using a player

I got the 4K version and was disappointed that the blu ray copies are not included and no digital copy either. Only 4K discs and those few episodes don't worth $40 plus tax (on sale!!!) ...

I originally purchased this because of the ratings for outstanding uhd 4k photography and it is! But beware, it goes uncomfortably too far is showing animals stalking and eating its prey.

Bought this 4k Blu ray item after reading the back of the box that stated this would work with blu-ray players but might experience some loss in quality. I have an xbox one and a couple other blu ray players . The disc does not work at all and as much as I love all of the other products I have purchased from BBY I'm pretty sure my wife would not be happy if I told her I needed to pay $200+ for a new disc reader when we all know everything is going digital. Just saying :/

Though it's in 4k, I just feel like it's not worth owning. Not even worth a 2nd time watch.

Great 4 k but how many times can you watch and do you need token?

Unfortunately disc 1 of my copy arrived broken. 1 star only reflects the broken product. Will be returning soon.

I haven't been able to watch it, because my PlayStation 4 Pro apparently doesn't support UHD Blu Rays. Thanks again, Sony

Defective could not be read by my Sony 4k. Has 3 discs, 2 main discs cant be read

I ordered this series thinking I ordered a 4K player, when I I got a 4K streaming.

Let me start by saying that I was a huge fan of Planet Earth. Easy 5 stars all day. The Planet Earth II set was viewed on an OPPO UDP-203 Ultra HD Blu-Ray Player and 65" LG OLED TV (2016 model) With Planet Earth II, I had high expectations but was unfortunately left stunned in some areas and overly disappointed in others. There are currently 2 sets in the US: Blu-Ray (1080p) and UHD Blu-Ray (4k). I'll be reviewing the 4K set. The 4K set includes 3 discs; Disc 1 & 2 have 3 episodes each (6 total) while Disc 3 is a normal blu-ray disc holding the extra features (a bit under an hour of content). Each episode runs about 45 minutes, so you're getting roughly 6 hours of content across the 6 episodes + bonus feature. First disappointment: All 3 discs are included in a 2-disc case. The 2nd disc is stacked on top of the 3rd, causing scratching. Audio is presented in DTS-HD MA 5.1. Picture is 16:9 ("Fullscreen" on a widescreen TV). The 4K set requires a 4K TV and 4K UHD Blu-Ray player. It will not play on a normal blu-ray player. No 1080p disc (besides the bonus features) is included on the 4K set; no digital copy is included. So why the 4 stars? Some of the content here is stunning. Insanely detailed, sharp and exciting (especially in HDR!). Some of the content is OK (still good, but not 4K) and some is downright awful. We're talking slightly above DVD Quality. There is no consistency and this happens in all episodes. This appears to be due to the mix of different cameras; while some are filmed with high-end equipment, some other shots appear to be shot with a gopro stuck in the forest or the desert (and I'm not exaggerating here). I didn't notice any shots like this during Planet Earth (1) so it was a surprise to see here. This may be the best that the gopro footage has ever been seen.. but it's still gopro footage. Shots will quickly go from high-end to low-end, making the problems much more obvious. Lastly, while the content during Planet Earth 1 was entertaining and captivating throughout, I felt Planet Earth 2 was good but had some slower moments that were unlike the first. Overall, I don't regret it. More Planet Earth content is always great! Unfortunately, it's not up to par with how it SHOULD have looked. Or how good the content itself should have been.

I'll be honest - I bought these because I read they looked amazing in 4K HDR. I hadn't seen the original Planet Earth series, but I heard really good things about it. I'm not the type that would normally watch a nature documentary, but the way they put these together is pretty captivating. It's a really great window into so many unique places and David Attenborough does a fantastic job of narrating. I've watched a few UHD Blu Ray movies and this is by far the best I've seen visually. The colors just pop. If you've got a 4K HDR TV and the UHD Blu Ray player to back it up this is a must-have.
