    Great....for it's price

I understand that when you're not spending 50 and over for a headset, you're not gonna get the greatest product...which is why this headset still gets some decent numbers in the ratings. A few things I can't accept though is the inability to use your entire volume range without interference, aka a buzzing (happens at about 1/2 to 3/4 volume). This is because the cords are small and poorly shielded allowing for a lot of static and other waves to be picked up on the way to the headset...I'm considering attempting to rewire, but don't know if it's really worth it. Also, as expected from pretty much every headset I've ever owned, the ears get hot because there's no ventilation...that didn't affect my ratings but it's something people should be aware of...if your headset encloses your ears, and you expect some kind of sound blockage, it's gonna get hot... On the plus side, this headset is the best priced item for it's quality for both headsets and headphones on this website (when I looked for it about June 10th, 2009 or so), it runs off a mini phone jack which I like much better than the USB counterparts, and it has a volume control and mic mute/unmute on the cord making it easy if I need a quick volume change, It's made of the typical plastic, but it's slightly thicker than others of it's type, and there are almost no moving parts which is awesome for it's durability, and with an extra $5 to best buy for a warranty ( you still save at least 10 -20 dollars on this baby) it should last me a while. Also, I'd like to mention the cushion on the top of the headset...SO MANY HEADSETS DON'T HAVE THIS AND THEY SHOULD, it makes the entire unit SO much more comfy. Unfortunately, I don't know how well the mic works as my computer isn't allowing me to use my mic jack currently, something I am trying multiple fixes of (already unmuted it in the volume controls, looking for an extra driver, but that shouldn't be necessary because it's not USB) I will say that from the look of it, it seems very well designed, as it comes down at comfortable distance from the face and has a little maneuverability regarding it's distance to the mouth. Overall, I'm VERY satisfied with this product, and the only reason it doesn't score better in the overall is because you get what you pay for, and compared with other (more expensive) headsets I've had, it is average. I still encourage anyone who reads this and wants a headset that works for a decent price to purchase this.

I went into the store looking for something completely different. I stumbled on to this Plantronics headset and needed to replace my old headset. I'm not a gamer, so I wasn't looking to spend a fortune on a premium headset nor a console specific headset. The sound quality is very good, not as good as my Bose QC15's, but still very good. The cord that exits the headset from the left earpiece is plenty long enough and has both a volume control and microphone mute switch. The cord ends with 3.5 mm plugs, one for the microphone, another for the speakers. The plugs do indicate which is the mic and which is the speakers, but in low light, those indicators are not easy to see. The integrated beam microphone is also mounted on the left earpiece. It stays where it is put, yet easily swings out of the way. The left and right earpieces are NOT indicated on the headset, but can be easily determined by movement of the beam microphone's movement range. This headset is perfect for the early morning internet calls with my European counterparts or catching a short internet video. The downside of this headset is the pressure on the ears gets wearisome. Other than the limited flexibility of the head band, there is no lateral rotation of the earpieces.

So I needed a new set of headphones for playing mmorpgs since my busted set of cheapo noise cancelling headphones bit the dust finally. They were an ok brand (Phillips) that I think I got for like $20. figuring I would need to spend a bit to get a HP/Mic combo that didn't look/feel/perform like it was made in a third world country for pennies on the dollar I jumped on this set that was on sale from like $32 or so to $19.99. Performance: This set actually has performed exceptionally well! More than I would expect a set twice its price to perform. I can set the volume to uncomfortable levels and still not receive any feedback or interference. The mic is kind of hard to review for most normal ppl but at least for me my buddies on ventrilo have reported that the sound is good and not too high/low and does not have any weird feedback problems that I have had in the past with cheaper sets. Comfort: I wouldn't say terrible, but this headset is prolly better suited to people with really small ears. Either that or I just have gotten spoiled by headphones that actually cover the whole ear. Don't get me wrong, this does not interfere with the sound, but people with even normal sized ears will not be able to have these cover them. The padding is ok, but after extended hours of gaming or jamming out they get a bit uncomfortable. Overall: Sales aside, if these were placed head to head with the next step up that is only a little more I would go with the bigger ones, but with the sale price of almost half off this is absolutely one of the best performance to price HP/MIC sets you can get.

I bought this set to replace a much more expensive Logitech set which lost its microphone after a couple of months...because I had snagged the flimsy, long wire on that otherwise perfect set. The Plantronics set has worked perfectly...with great sound and a powerful microphone (keep it high, well away from your mouth). 9 months on, the lead mounted, rotary volume switch which I have hardly, if ever used, has developed an intermittant fault. I now get sound sometimes in both ears, sometimes in one ear, sometimes not at all. Squeezing the switch case seems to help...sometimes...so I guess it's either a switch failure, or more likely a wiring connection problem, despite me being extremely careful not to snag the wire. Overall, I've been satisfied with this set from the performance point of view, so I'm intending to buy the same set again. They all appear to have the same flimsy wiring which breaks too easily, so why pay more. Nothing at this price lasts for long...but for $30 I'll buy the same set...it's not worth the cost of posting any set back to the manufacturer for a possible (?) repair.

After reading some of the other reviews, I was somewhat hesitant to purchase this headset, but now I'm glad I did. Sound quality: I played a few different songs and a couple of videos and I have to say the sound quality is excellent. I've had much more expensive headphones that weren't as crisp and clear. Recording quality: I haven't yet used it for voice chat, but I did use the sound recorder to get an idea of quality. I have no complaints thus far. Comfort: Some people mentioned that the set is uncomfortable. It is somewhat heavy and would be incredibly uncomfortable for someone with larger ears. My ears are not that large, so the padding fits around them nicely. I also wear glasses and had no comfort issues. Durability: It seems durable. It's not flimsy, though the cord is somewhat thin. If you're looking for a nice headset that won't break your budget, this is definitely worth it. If you're a serious gamer or musician, you'll probably want to go for something a bit more sophisticated.

Decent, but definitely not the best

I bought my headset a bit ago, and it was black and red. It was unimaginably amazing at first. The sounds came through clearly and the microphone, according to my friends over voice chat, was loud and clear but not overbearing. had my headset for about 2 months now and it's working fine, but since I use a laptop on a recliner, the long cord gets caught in the footrest on occasion. The cord eventually pulled loose near the headset's top and I have to use tape (at the moment, scotch) to get it just the right way and wrapped around the headset 100 different ways to get it fixed. Then I learned that the headset's mic will send out wierd electric feedback (nicknamed alien messages by my friends) when the box with the mic and volume controls go near it. Summary of cons: The headset cord is delicate. Alien Messages Sound can't be muted via headset Microphone can still pick up loud noises when it's 'off'. Not fit in a way comfortable on ears after extended use. Summary of pros: Sound quality Mic quality Long cord Volume/Mic control Cheap Go for the Creative Labs Fatal1ty headset if you're shoping for a headset. I've gotten recommendations that it's the best out there.

I was looking for a low-cost headset of decent sound quality that I could use with both my cell phone and computer. Pros: This unit definitely fits the bill. The headphone sound quality is surprisingly good, actually acceptable for casual music listening in addition to voice quality. And the mic is completely acceptable too. The headset comes with an adapter so that it can easily be used with either a 4-conductor jack on a cell phone or the two separate mic and sound a jacks on a computer. Cons: The quality of the wiring and connectors is marginal. This is probably not the best choice for kids, unless they're unusually gentle with how they treat this kind of equipment. But otherwise fine if you take some care. The overall fit of the headset and the ear pads are also pretty marginal. If you have a large head, it's probably best to look elsewhere. And the ear pads are definitely not comfortable enough for hours of continuous wearing. I replaced the ear pads with an extra, softer set that I happened to have laying around, and that helped quite a bit. All that said, you generally get what you pay for, and in this case I think it's actually a pretty good deal. I'm happy with the cost vs. quality and performance.

I bought this headset at the local best buy and was extremely surprised by the sound quality when i plugged these babies in! The sound these put out rivals the sound of much more expensive headphones. I can not emphasize how good it is. The bass shakes your ears, the mids are strong, and the highs crisp. They can go louder than you will ever want, as well. Short of spending $150 for some Audio Technica ATH-M50's, I wont buy anything else. The build of these is decent, the plastic is strong yet flexible. The cable seems a little flimsy, but seems to be holding up fine. I'd say that is potentially the weakest part of this set. I can't comment for the microphone, as I use the high quality one built into my cam. The comfort is average. After a couple hours my ears get sore from these. Also if i look at my desk with them on, they tend to slip forward. However, they do not pinch or catch hair. If you are looking for a headset, and don't want to shell out tons of money, buy these. It will be the best $20 you've ever spent.

I need a headset for online electronic meetings and webinars and a wired headset for voice communication is perfectly adequate for my needs for when I work remotely. At work I have a wireless Plantronics headset that operates flawlessly and I have been using it for several years. Although a Plantronics branded head set, this wired headset was a real disappointment and doesn't even come close to my expectations. Yes it is inexpensive and when it worked had decent sound quality, but it should at least function for more than a few days! After the third day of use people in meetings would complain they couldn't hear me due to distortion and my mic was periodically dropping out. After some testing I figured out that the jack plugged into the computer was bad. After some research I found a much better alternative for the same price that I have been using it continuously for over a month without any issue. The Plantronics headset was summarily returned to Best Buy.

Pros: Great sound. Way cheaper than everything else out there. If you like the volume and mic mute, that's handy. I find the comfort of the soft earpieces to be unrivaled, very wearable for 10+ hours a day. Can't say the sound is completely awesome and hifi, but definitely quite "good". I use these every single day of the year. Lots of Skype and lots of music while at work and not on the phone. Watched a great many movies, too. These are simply a really great all around buy. Con: Not as durable as I would have liked. My last pair lasted a year. Not so bad, but if it wasn't for the volume control, they would have lasted a lot longer. I used the mute a lot being on Skype, and almost liked it, but I wish they had a model without those controls thing either a) in the way or b) susceptible to damage and rendering the speakers non-functioning. However, there's nothing else out there as good, so I was fairly happy buying another pair.

It's not bad as a microphone headset for the price I paid. I like the microphone and headphone, separately. There isn't any instructional manual. This package it came with a headset, a 3.5 mm adapter, warranty card, safety pamphlet, limited warranty and arbitration agreement and something in Chinese. They are all printed in Mexico. On the package, I see "Windows Compatible" but not knowing which version of Windows. In reality, it works without the adapter if you have a computer comes with both microphone and headset jacks. If you have a single jack, the adapter won't work. So, I ended up buying a USB adapter to work. If I knew this, I'd buy a USB microphone headset instead. I didn't test it on smart phone yet. Because it's not what I needed it for.

Thank you for your honest review on our .audio 355 headset. This model is intended for PC use and by default it connects to separate audio ports (one for the microphone, the other ones for the speakers) but can also be used on computers with 3.5mm headset ports and mobile devices that use the same combo jack. Great "Bang for the Buck" right here! Keep in mind that these are NOT USB. Let me address the Cons first. 1- It's obvious that you have to handle them with some care. They are not built rugged. If you buy these for your kids they probably wont last long. 2- The ear cushion is a bit the hard side but I didn't find them too uncomfortable. The Pros: 1- They make a fairly good seal around your ear. If you have these on you might miss the doorbell ringing. 2- These are not audiophile sound headsets but they are high fidelity. If you are super picky about sound reproduction then these won't cut it. However, they sound great. You can enjoy your music with these. All in all for just a little more these beat the pants off of the Logitech H-390 USB headset that I previously used until I broke them.

For the novice or budget PC gamer looking and feeling pro is important. While most of the people you know on consoles are sporting high end Turtle Beach headsets you might be used to the simpler type you can find for Xbox and PlayStation systems. This device fills the gap between the entry level console gamer headsets and the ultra pro sets you see at LAN parties and in E3 videos. The mic has good pick up and with tuning can almost eliminate background noise. The earphones have a good pressure but don't envelop your ears in mini, personalized, sweat boxes like the bigger models can. They stay comfy even after a multi hour playing session. They sound good enough to satisfy the base requirements of most any audiophile. They adapt easily to various systems as well. Most PC gamers will insist on something from the high end but these work nearly as well for a fraction of the price. Great for newbies, budget gamers or as a backup set for the 'other' computer you have laying around.

I bought this item to replace a much more expensive higher quality headset with a microphone so I could work from home and talk to clients by phone. The device no longer was functional when I upgraded to Windows 8.1, and I found out that this was because there was no driver that would work for the USB-based system. Best Buy honored the warranty, I got my money back and I bought this item which has not as high a quality sound, but it is not USB-based, it plugs directly into my computer's mike and earphone plugs (which are immediately adjacent), and so it will always work no matter what system upgrades take place. It also has an adapter to convert the two-plug configuration with 3-prong plugs to a one plug, 4-prong configuration that would allow me to use it with my iPhone (if I lose the regular earbuds). In short, this will always work and the noise-canceling earphones give me very acceptable quality sound. For the money it's a honey.

I purchased this headset because I needed something for occasional Skype calls. Also, sometimes I like to plug headphones into my iPod and listen to music while I work around the house. They're wired headphones, so it's a little bit of a pain, but I just thread the wire under my shirt and it keeps it pretty much out of the way. I have tried cordless headsets before and I always forget to recharge the battery, so I just quit buying those. One thing I really like, is that despite their cost, the sound is quite good for an inexpensive headset. Music sounds nice on these and made it worth the price. CONS: The reason I rated these only a 4 was that they're not comfortable for extended use. They pinch my head after awhile, and so I wouldn't recommend them for long hours of gaming. They also appear kind of plasticy and cheap looking. Otherwise, a nice headset for the price!

I recently purchased this item for a job as an at home customer service rep. OMG, do I have noise surrounding me!! My husband has a pit bull that will not stop barking in the front yard, dump trucks are constantly moving to and fro in my back yard, busy highway, and children playing. The noise cancelling mic does what it says unlike the Logitech 150 that I had at first. The cushions are soft and my little ears fit inside the muffs just fine. Looking at the complaints, I'm assuming that they weren't made for everyone (football heads) and the sound level may not be for the already near deaf people. The sound level is like any other headphone set which is fine with me. I love the controls!! I love them!!

I work from home, over the Internet, and spend a good deal of time in conference calls. I bought this headset because with my previous headsets, other people were having trouble hearing me, or were hearing echoes when I wasn't muted, etc. From the moment I plugged this one in, all those problems stopped, and I could hear the other callers much better. The noise cancellation is very good, too - people no longer hear the washer and dryer that are 10 feet from my desk, but have no problem hearing me. The headset is a bit tight on the head, which takes some getting used to, but the sound is well worth that inconvenience - I never realized that 'hold' music actually had some fidelity to the sound before; now I find myself actually enjoying it, well, at least a little, sometimes.

For the price you can't really argue with what you're getting. Yes, the build quality could be better and of course you can always do better with sound quality but for the price these really aren't that bad. Been using these for about a month now for games and just about everything I do on the computer and they've been working well for me. The ear cups will take some getting used to, especially if you wear glasses like me. It'll take you a second to position them on your ears just right but once you find the sweet spot, it's good. Normally I take my glass off, put the headphones on and then position my glasses over the ear cups. Once I've got the headphones settled in a comfortable position. I would also recommend turning the cushions once in a while so you're not flattening out the same spots. Overall, sound quality is good. These offer good bass and noise cancellation if you're shopping on a budget and the inline mic mute and volume controls are useful.

So after reading several reviews, I decided to buy this headset because it had overall good reviews and the price wouldn't break the bank. When I got home, I plugged them in and tested it out on Vent. At first, all people heard was static and I tried testing the mic on Sound Recorder and it didn't pick up anything at all. Once I fiddled around with the properties, people were finally able to hear me on Vent but they said I sounded very muffled and there was static in the back. Not only is the mic quality poor, the sound quality is just as bad. If I'm not listening to anything (like while surfing the web) there is a low static sound. It was getting so annoying that I actually had to remove the headset until I found some music or video to play just to cancel out the noise. I use integrated sound, so I guess the reason for all my problems is just that. I'm returning this thing today and getting a USB headset, hopefully that will solve everything. Do not buy if you do not have a good sound card!

I just bought these headphones today afternoon and have been using them for the past 3-4 hours continuously. I have a latest Dell Inspiron laptop with HD premium sound. But when I using my old JVC headphones, I couldn't have access to the SRS premium sound that I am now getting with these new headphones. The sound quality from this is just blowing my mind right now! Tested the microphone quality also with Dell's built in audio settings (I can talk on the mic and it plays back my voice to me over headset; pretty cool!). It has echo cancellation and noise cancellation which means my voice over mic sounds perfect. So far loving this! Will update later regarding durability. But wearing this for long should most definitely hot up your ears.
