Probably not worth full price, but their good at the $90 sale price. Max volume is ok in a quiet room, but may be an issue for some in a busier environment. I plan to use mostly at home while working out, so the volume should be fine. They're probably doing me a favor by being somewhat limited on the high volume end. Would have gotten 5 stars if the equalizer wasn't limited to only 3 preset options.

The sound is amazing and the Bluetooth connectivity is great. I can walk around my apartment and hallway and remain connected. I did not expect the sound quality that these put out. They are also comfortable while wearing.

Good Headphones for Sport/General Use

The Plantronics BackBeat FIT 6100 headphones are a pretty good mid-price over-the-ear headphones. They are designed for more sport/activity due to their IPX5 rated water/sweat resistance, but can very easily and comfortably be used for other daily activities.
Out of the box, they are packaged nicely and build quality is nice. They feel like they'll last although I have to say I'm not a huge fan of the design on a purely aesthetic basis. The thin metal pieces that connect headband to the ear pieces make me worry if the headphones were to be sat on or put under some weight, that they might bend. The headphones are surprisingly light which is nice--especially if using during a workout. One BIG negative for me is that they did not come with a carrying case of any kind. Seriously? This makes me even more concerned about the headphones being damaged--especially if you are going to be traveling with these at any point. Battery life is rated at 24 hours. In my testing this is pretty accurate and can be recharged fairly quickly via included SHORT micro-USB cable.
Setup/Connection was very easy. Turned on and immediately entered pairing mode. Before really using these, I would recommend downloading the BackBeat companion app as it will immediately notify you that there is a firmware update needed for the headphones. Once updated, you'll be able to adjust the EQ, ambient awareness, and My Tap (touch control) features.
As far as features go, the My Tap (touch controls) are all located on the right ear cover and can be used to play, pause, skip, answer calls, etc. I have another set of headphones with this same feature and there is inevitably the accidental pause or skip forward due to a brush against your body. Since the outside of the headphone is smooth, it can be pretty hard to know if you're about to pause, skip, rewind, or turn the ambient awareness feature on/off. Some kind of tactile features that would allow the user to know where they were touching might be helpful. The ambient awareness feature is helpful since the over-the-ear design can isolate the wearer even though these aren't noise cancelling. This helps you hear what is going on around you and is especially useful if you are outside and need to be somewhat aware of your surroundings.
As far as sound goes, I would say they are good, but not quite excellent. Pretty good sounds across the range (lows, mids, and highs), but I would appreciate a some more volume. For $180 headphones, they are probably better than you'd expect for an over-the-ear design.
In conclusion, the BackBeat FIT 6100s are a solid pair of headphones that can be used during your workout or at the office. I found them quite comfortable and they stayed in place during moderate activities. Sound quality was good and should get you in the zone. One of my biggest complaints of these headphones is the lack of carrying case which kind of makes them useless for me since I don't like carrying headphones (even $180 ones) around unprotected. Pairing that with my personal dislike of their style, I deducted two stars. These may not be issues for you so to each their own.
Pros:
*Fit/Comfort
*Battery life
*Price
Cons:
*Lack of carrying case
*Very sensitive touch controls w/o ability to adjust sensitivity
*Style/Design

Comfortable to wear for any period of time. Range and battery life are spectacular!!! Where they lack is in the sound. If BASS is not important to you, you will be happy with these headphones. Otherwise, if you're looking for full sounding bass, look elsewhere.

I have been struggling to decide my ratings for these headphones. Lets start with what it does right -
1) As with any audio products, the sound quality is paramount, and these do not disappoint. There is a great balance between treble and bass, and neither sounds overwhelming. A lot of these headphones have a tendency to boost the bass, and I am thankful Plantronics have avoided that trap.
2) Another issue I have had with wireless headphones/earphones in the past is the reception. Especially, in certain areas of the city I have had interference with other models, but I have not had a single instance of skipped audio or interference with these at all. I am really happy with this since my Plantronics 3100 suffered from this, and it can be really really annoying.
3) I am saving the best for the last - the battery life. This thing has outdone its marketed 24 hr battery life everytime I have used it. My commute is not short - to and fro it takes me close to 3 hrs each day. And I have at max lost 10% during a single day. It has completely taken away my worry that each time I put on my headphones in the train, I might just hear battery low!!
4) I do really like the smart assistant feature. I know a lot of earphones have that now, but it just works well on this one. You can either access it by a long tap, or through the App you can set it to be your "Open Mic" double tap.
The bad -
1) The pure touch controls on the Right ear cover is in my opinion a terrible terrible design. Even if Volume and track controls being touch swipes, is "intuitive". The fact that pause/plan and especially call answer/decline is a mere single touch/tap on the "big" cover, is absolutely horrendous. Every time you have to adjust your headphones, if your palm inadvertently touches the outside of the right ear cover, you end up pausing your music - or worse disconnecting an ongoing call.
This is bad bad UX, and unfortnately I can't think of a software patch fixing this. This is where I was thinking of deducting 2 stars instead of 1, but...
2) Another minor issue is the open mic or what other brands call ambient nouse, where you will hear amplified environment sounds as well. 2 issues with this - It seems to amplify ambient noise more than speech, so not always helpful. Also, the way you control the volume for this, is a half swipe up and down. While normal volume is a full swipe up and down. This difference between a half swipe and a full swipe is really really finicky, when you already have the headphones on.. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But since I do not use open mic much, this does not bother me as much.
The app "BackBeat" is helpful, if you need some customization, and it is also the way to update the firmware of your headphones. Out of box, I had a firmware update available already. Not sure if they will be able to fix some of the issues listed here in one of the future patches.

SUMMARY
Quality sound for the active lifestyles that fits your head securely and offers good battery life.
Pros:
Adjustable E/Q
Great battery life
Sweat-proof
Comfortable fit
Lightweight
Wired 3.5 adapter
Customize touch controls
Cons:
E/Q function is on app only
No noise reduction
These headphones are adjustable and offer a tight, stable fit on your ears for the gym. Sweatproof and seem really durable with up to 24 hours on a full charge. Pairing my device was easy with the quick set up guide included but full manaul for features is not included, full manual here: https://www.plantronics.com/content/dam/plantronics/documents-and-guides/en/user-guides/backbeat-fit-6100-ug.pdf.
You need to download the Back Beat App and update device to access the E/Q features were you have 3 choices: PLT Signature Balanced, Bright and Bass modes, I prefer PLT but did check out the bass mode which was really good. Sound quality in general with good highs, mids and lows. Very nice headphones to listen to music while working out or on the plane, list of features include:
Adjustable sport-fit headband
Powerful 40 mm drivers
All-day comfort
Sweat proof and water-resistant
24 hours of power
Awareness mode
EQ settings
On-ear touch controls
My Tap
Compact and foldable
Multipoint
Micro-USB to 3.5 mm cable
I really like the my tap features (this is the ear touch feature you use to control tracks & volume on right headset) were you can customize functions and the awareness mode button were you can quickly hear someone talking to you without lowering the music for a sec. I'm a happy camper with these headphones

The head grip/clamp is tight (and even adjustable) so they don't move around while I am moving. The touch controls can be annoying because certain arm movements/motions will unintentionally navigate the audio.

Plantronics has always had a good reputation for high quality telephone accessories, and these are no exception. As an audio engineer, I'm picky about sound, so when I say these are the best pair of Bluetooth headphones I've ever heard (let alone owned), you can believe that's saying something. The Plantronics Backbeat FIT 6100 headphones sound almost as good as wired headphones in the $50 - $70 price range. Given that Bluetooth is well known among audio professionals for being, shall we say, less than amazing, that's also saying a lot. It is a fact that wireless is never as good as wired for signal transfer, whether you're talking about computer networking, sound, or anything else. Bluetooth is no exception, but the FIT 6100 tries hard to compete with wired headphones!
The battery life is great, going a full 12 hour day of playing for 2 days on a single charge. I'll frequently go a week between charges using them each day for some time. The controls are easy to use. The feature to listen to what's going on around you is convenient, since these are quite good at blocking out ambient sound simply by putting them on. I wish that feature was in stereo, but that's a minor thing.
I've had other Bluetooth headphones that were worthless for taking calls on. I could hear the other person fine, but they couldn't hear me for anything. The mic on them was just plain garbage. Not so with these. I've had people tell me that they couldn't tell the difference between when I am using them and when I'm just holding my phone (an LG Android unit) to my ear. They are susceptible to the "robotic" or "metallic" sound on calls at times, but I've noticed that seems to happen mostly when I'm near other devices that use the same radio frequency spectrum that Bluetooth uses, and then mostly when I'm connected using Bluetooth 4. That technology just has issues. If I tell my phone to use Bluetooth 3 or 2, the problem virtually disappears.
In short, if you've got the budget to afford these, get them!

i bought these specifically to take to the gym, supposedly they are built more for this type of use. I've gone through 2 pairs of Dre Breats that seem to be sadly fragile. We'll see if they hold up.
