This headset may be more suited for a female gamer

I start this review off by saying I am a female gamer (Yes, we do exist!) and Female's heads are not as large as males (Sorry guys!) While it appears to be a huge headset, it is not very heavy and I do not feel the pressure that other reviewers are speaking of (Sorry Guys!). The longest I have worn the headset has been 4 hours taking it off for brief breaks between the action. Due to the headband size, This headset may be more suited for a female or teenage gamer as opposed to an adult male. This headset works very well with Windows 7 64 bit (If you are buying this headset and are still on Vista, your money is much better spent on Windows 7!) there are no problems and it was simply plug and play for me. The sound quality is fantastic, and the folks on Ventrilo say that my voice is very clear and clean. The huge bonus is this is a 7.1 dolby digital surround sound headset that doesn't cost $129 or more. If you are comparing the price of a 7.1 set to the price of a 5.1 set, you are short two speakers. There are fantastic 5.1 headsets available in the $50 - $60 range, but will not give you the Bam surround this will for your gaming and movies. So to wrap it up Dolby 7.1 Surround sound for under $130 Fold away mic prevents accidental breakage Seems more designed for a Female, or a younger male gamer Armed with this knowledge buy your next headset wisely!

    Good headset, flimsy..

Bought this headset about 3 months ago and have been using it pretty much every day when I game. The thing is that I have a kinda big head, so when I put it over my head the earpieces are pretty far apart. And now the plastic is broken. The sound quality is great, it's REALLY comfortable but there's the problem with it being flimsy.

I'm a gamer and these are great. The sound is great and they're really comfortable. Like someone else said, I wear glasses and I don't even have the slightest bit of discomfort. It has an adjustable band so it pretty much fits all head sizes and the Dolby Surround Sound 5.1 feature is really nice. When I have the the headset plugged in through the Dolby USB card (included) it sounds like I'm using speakers and I can't even tell the sound is coming from the headphones. Alternatively you can just plug these in to the headphone and microphone jacks, but you won't get the Dolby Surround Sound feature. Another great thing is that there's no software to install, so you just plug them in and you're ready to go! I'm currently using this headset instead of speakers since I needed speakers and a new headset and these fulfill both of my needs. The only problem is that some people might not think to buy these because of the price. If you have the money I would definitely recommend these if you need new speakers and/or a headset. And lastly, when you have these plugged in, it fixes the Call of Duty 4 multiplayer error :D!

Hello, Note: I try to write any reviews on an item based on its Quality for Price. Well -I purchased the 377 and 777 Head set - ONLY difference between the 2 models is $50. and a digital surround sound adapter unit (777 comes with which plugs into usb) This is not a True Suround Sound unit but gets the job done. These units both have a decent mic, They are Excellent for Music (I've tested 5 different head units from $50 - $130. and the 377 Headset is the best bang for the buck at $50. the 377 replaces the 370 model which was cheap feeling and sound was a bit less quality. the 777 replaces the 770 model. NOTE - the 650 Plantronic is not worth getting at $50 as the 377 beats it hands down and same price!!! The 777's are a good headset with "Virtual" suround sound. but at $100. you can get some better 5.1 head units. - Again for Music these units both are awesome. - I ended up going with the 377 model as I like to MMO and listen to music at the same time.. P.S. - for unbelieveabe 5.1 sound (shooter type games only - NOT MUSIC) the Razer Barracuda at $130 are a must get. The units where tested with a Sound Blaster X-FI gamer Card, so if it sounds bad its the sampled MP3 or the Headset - I suggest listening to a CD with a good head unit/output source. I hope this helps sorry for all the jargen, just trying to give examples to compare as you can't open these units up at the store to test them... Good Luck

When I was shopping for a surround sound headset I almost bought the Razer Barracuda. Then I saw this. 30 dollars less and gave me the same exact thing I wanted! I plugged it into my bother board and set it up for 5.1 and got the same thing the usb chip does. Better off buying the 377 if you have surround sound on your mother board

I am a online DJ and this is the first headset I have ever had to use mic boost on. I expected better for the money. The noise-cancelling microphone allows you to easily speak to your opponents clearly? If they can hear you LOL. I do like the headset. They are great when it is just me listening to my music or playing games. Just know that if you intend to talk to people via broadcast or skype ect. Get a cheaper version and save a few bucks.

I just bought this today since the headset I used playing MMOs was just very uncomfortable. When I got home, I plugged it into my system and it worked without any problems. I had it on for at least 6 hours and it did not feel uncomfortable at all. I wear glasses and finding comfortable headsets can be quite a challenge. This one is definitely perfect for me.

I bought my set about 1 and a half years ago and I have had many problems. First a piece that holds the mic in broke (fixed with super glue), second they split apart at the left slide (also fixed with super glue), third the volume control is very picky when it wants to work. Although they do sound amazing. Your better off looking at another brand.

I am now on my 3rd set of these. I love the comfort and the sound quality however on the first two the mic snapped and had to be taped back together which of course lowered the voice quality. I do have a 64 bit vista and the dongle does not work with this but the regular jacks do.

    Not the great

Headset is not that great. Feels to bulky and toy-like. Sound was not that bad. Only plus is a hide-a-way mic. Returned for Logitech G35 headset; well worth the money. GameCom 777 clamshell packaging is RIDICULOUS. I almost sliced myself with my knife a few times and scissors required a two hand approach. This was trying to slice around the perimeter of the packaging.

    Worth The Money

Gamers must buy, I bought these this morning and they r the best I have used. I have been through a lot of headphones and these top the market right now. I play a lot of CS:S and I had them on for 6 hours today and it felt like I had nothing on my head. I would recommened this to anyone that wants to be comfortable while playing a game. The surround sound is great, u can hear the smallest noise around u or far away. The guys that I talk to in game play say they can hear me crystal clear. I hope this when you r thinking about buying a new set of headphones.

In less than 6 months I have taped the microphone back on and now had one of the earpieces break. The sound quality is great but that does not make up for the need to replace a $100 headset after 4 months.

    Does Not Work...

out of the box as advertised and promised. This expensive headset was comfortable to wear but would not work with my system. Either the microphone would work and the headphones wouldn't or just the opposite. Plantronix support has not answered my case or question for over 2 days and I have a project due today. They advertise "live" support but when you fill out the form you are advised that someone answer your question within 1 day - absolutely not true. Seems that if they have your money, they don't care if the product works or not. I am taking this expensive piece of junk back to Best Buy today and going with a cheaper one that will hopefully work on my system. What a disappointment this device was after extensively researching microphone headsets and choosing this product has been. I don't mind spending the extra money for a supposedly "quality" device but the bottom line is - if it won't work on my system, its not worth the cost at any price.

I've owned this headset for roughly 6 months now and I'm in love with it. It offers rich, clear sound and is extremely comfortable. I really like the tuck away microphone as well. I would recommend this headset for anyone looking for top notch sound.

    VISTA 64 WARNING

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I am writing to you because I do not want anyone to have to come back and forth to best buy for headphones that will never work. Plantronic Gamecom 777's do not work with Vista 64 BIt. I am very "Hardcore" gamer and was truely dissapointed when I found this out. I called plantronics and looked at their own personal forums about this issue. Vista 64 bit WILL NOT reconginze the Dolby Dongle that makes these headphones worth it. They will still work with the regular mic jack, but then, whats the point? Please feel free and look this up if you do not trust me, but I promise, the company even stated they do not have a fix for this issue (such as a driver) and to myself any many others it is a waste of our time.
