Love the 4k look, I did not think it would make a huge difference, however, with HDR it does. Make sure you calibrate your TV for optimal viewing and gaming experience. Many TVs have features that are better off being turned off, especially for gaming. There are two CONs that for me are annoying; 1.) not true 4k bluray playback only up convert. (May have to pick up An xbox one s if you want that feature. ) (2.) Signal issues between TV and ps4 pro, causing no video to screen or just digital static.
This should be fixed eventually with a software update. This can come from TV manufacturer and/or PSN. I have a Samsung KS8000 series tv for instance.
Graphics and perforemance should improve with time and newer games. As developers learn the capabilities of the ps4. XBOX ONE X has a slight edge over ps4 in graphics and performance for now. I say this because with time and developer skills, optimization, and utilization improve the PS4 could match or exceed the XBOX One X.
Heres why, 16 Bit dual computational processing. Basically this makes it more efficient with imagery processing. Xbox oneX is 32bit full proccessing all the time, making it less efficient. Xbox graphics are capped at the capabilities it has. Where as PS4 graphics sounds lacking but theoretically could double. Example 4.2 Teraflops plus double performance is 8.2 TERAFLOPS. Xbox One X has 6 Tefaflops. Technically PS4 has a 2.2 Teraflop edge if optimized and utilized by developers. This is a technology found in older AMD FX cards. It was dropped however, could make a comeback in console gaming. Xbox one X should perform similar to a GTX 1080. Which is great but if you have a 4k PC with fast memory and precessor and a 1070 or better, do not bother with xbox and stick to PC.
*Current fix for pS4 video issue hold Ps button down 2-3 seconds down or joystick (left one) down twice, then press X. Turn off TV. PS4 Should now be in rest mode. Remember You will be able to see while you do this, if you could this step would be unecessary. Turn on TV then turn ps4 back on TV should now be displaying ps4.

Bought as a Christmas gift for my husband. After 2 years of seldom use, got a “Won’t read disc + gear like noise when disc is loaded” issue. Tried searching on the internet, and found many posts/videos about this issue.
Unfortunately, all of the quick solutions posted did work on my PS4. So, what we got now is a useless device collecting dust on the stand.
Will still decide if it worth the cost of sending it to be fixed. Sad...

A good upgrade with a couple flaws

To start off, I upgraded from the base ps4, not the slim. I owned it for about three years and figured that I got my moneys worth, and decide to upgrade. All in all to upgrade I spent around $300, I had coupons. I bought the ps4 pro when I had internet unavailable to me and so in order to not lose my save data from my old ps4 I had to go through this big process of downloading my save files to a usb and transferring it to my ps4 pro. It was stressful because I wasn't sure it would work, but it did. Also there was the countless dlc, add-ons and game patches for my games that I would have to redownload. My arms were tied, and so I had no choice but to go over to a friends house and download everything there. Without these game patches you won't be able to take advantage of the pro's true potential. Once I had everything installed and downloaded I decided to play two games, one that is 4k enabled, Hitman, and one that wasn't, The Walking Dead A New Frontier. Hitman looked ok, I didn't see too much improvement and the screen produced lag between aufion and video. It was bad. After a couoke tweeks I was able to fix it. The Walking dead did however look more clean in its presentation. The frames were much smoother and overall ran better. However, it did manage to freeze and crash a lot. I had to uninstall and reinstall the game, and download all the episodes again to fix the issue. So, all in all, it was an ok upgrade with lots of issues. I'd say it is worth it with all the new games coming out soon. If you find it on sale, definitely get one, jist be prepared for some bumps in the road and you'll be more than happy.

I recently upgraded from the launch PS4 to a PS4 Pro. While I would say the biggest reason to upgrade is for the 4k capabilities, those with 1080p TVs will also see the improvements.
My own use is with a 1080p tv. As newer games are released, improved graphics and/or 60fps modes are becoming available that definitely improves the gameplay over the base PS4. Further, Sony unlocked an improved graphics mode that runs games without special Pro graphics options at its native GPU speed/capabilities (it previously limited it to match the base PS4). This has made most games run at smoother frame rates, in some cases even letting games hit 30fps/60fps where it previously would only run at a few FPS less. In Doom, I can crank the field of view up and still hit a constant FPS that appears to be 60fps (I believe DigitalFoundry confirms this), where it previously would have dips or sit in the 50-55fps range. In GTA V, there is less stutter and slow downs while driving around the city. I've read some games have issues (depending on how they are coded), however, I have not run into any yet.
Having a USB port in the back is a nice touch as well instead of having to have things plugged into the front (very messy looking). The cubby in my TV stand is kinda small, so I run small usb fans to pull in cool air by the side input and push out hot air of the back, so being able to plug into the back makes the set up look much nicer.
This is much quieter than my launch PS4, which sounded like a jet engine. The physical buttons are easier to see and see which is which compared to the touch buttons on the launch edition.
I like the new light bar on the controllers that makes it easy to see from the top of the controller. Also, the slimmer light is lower power and helps with battery life.
If you are just getting a PS4 for the first time, I would recommend this over the launch or slim models, as long as the $100 difference isn't a killer to your wallet (that is a few games worth). If you already have a PS4 and are considering the upgrade, obviously do it if you have a 4k. If you have a 1080p, you will still see benefits though not worth breaking the bank over. I found it to be worthwhile.
P.S.- I am glad they implemented a better transfer method. Previously it would just transfer save data and you'd have to re-download/install games. Now it can transfer from your old ps4 to the new ps4 over the network, so I was able to keep my P.T. Demo.

Sony has gone back to its high quality roots last seen on the original PS3. This review can begin by bringing to light the fact that Sony includes a high quality thick PC style power cord with this model. As someone who has owned both the original PS4 and the newer “Slim” I can honestly say that the Pro is the highest quality with the Slim being the least quality console yet. Higher frame rates during gameplay is the real reason to purchase this system. Old games will look new and new games will look even better. If you plan on playing Cod ww2 or Star Wars Battlefront 2 this fall make sure to pick up a PS4 Pro to get closer to your games!

I'm a gamer and own both PS and Xbox including a gaming desktop. When it comes to consoles and it's new generation hardware it has to offer to every gamer since the dawn of modern gaming of the 90's; this generation has surpassed even the limits of what console is capable of. To my review of the Xbox a very capable "media box", I call it has an incredible ability to navigate fast and efficiently through apps. Although even though the hardware is similar in many ways to the playstation 4 spec wise it comes short of gaming performance. Now this is coming from regular console first before the pro series.
Both ps4 reg. And xbox one have the same issue. They both have graphic lags on frame rate which drops below 40 to 30 fps at same point when pixel or as u say graphics pop up suddenly which effects game performance greatly. Yet i get this more on the xbox one more often than i have it on the ps4. Ps4 made slightly better mostly for gaming but for media, ehhh a little iffy. Navigation in media is slow compared to the xbox media, but when it come to gaming, the ps4 excels at this.
Now when it comes to players competitive wise, it was lacking before the holiday season on the ps4 side. But on Xbox u have pro players everywhere. Yet dont let the pros fool yeh some play with aim assist which isn't pro.
Now coming holiday season their has been a big jump in the Playstation community of more competitve game play.
Now onto the pro the ps4 surpasses that of the regs on every level its fast at everything not to mentioned its overclocked so keep it cool please. Bigger in size and more options in "setting" allows u to adjust the pros graphic control. Only the ps4 has this capability on the pros nothing else at moment though besides pc.
Fps i barely get any fps lag when playing games. The motion is fluid and graphics are stable.
So far ive played 70hrs on bf1, 14hrs on dreadnought, 6 hrs on fortnite, and 3hrs on war thunder.
I havent had problem graphic wise at all. Although the controls on both consoles take time getting used to its worth the buy.
I recommend buying which ever your preference is.
If u want gaming besides media navigation and enjoy great exp gaming go playstation.
If u want great media over gaming go xbox.
Competitve gaming will change this holidays season u will see a giant shift from xbox to ps4.
Have fun everyone and merry chirstmas i hope this review helps.
P.S
There is no optical cable port on reg ps4 (slim). If u have a wired surround sound your gonna need a pro.
Thats my tip to anyone who purchase the ps4.

This is my first gaming system since the Super Nintendo! (Yes it's been that long lol) I've played friends Xboxes and PlayStations throughout the years. This system is awesome! Easy to set up, easy to use, and works great with my new 4k tv! This thing is a beast! Only recommendation I have is to buy a stand if you want to use it vertically.

The PS4 pro is great if you have a 4k hdr TV. The games that are optimized are a great they look cleaner and graphics are more crisp. If you do not have a 4k TV I would recommend getting a regular PS4 you may get better frame rates with a 1080p TV but it will not take advantage of what the pro can do. Also having a HDR TV makes the colors pop a little more but the regular PS4 has hdr also. I would recommend an external hard drive also, one terabyte can get filled up pretty quickly with the newer games. I still prefer PC gaming but for the price and convenience the PS4 pro does a really good job.

The PS4 Pro gives boosts to certain games, but not always in the same way. Some have better frame rates, other have higher fidelity graphics. But a lot depends on your display. If you have a 4K TV you'll notice a difference. Otherwise you'll be able to notice gameplay performance improvements. Research the games you want to play, and find out if it really matters to you.

I couldn't enjoy my standard PS4 any longer simply because the fan roared like a jet engine non-stop. The PS4 Pro makes no noise at all - even during really challenging combat. The storage, performance and graphic upgrades are all winners - but peace and quiet to enjoy immersive gaming is a worth the cost alone.

Picked up a PS4 Pro after it went on sale and can say I am not disappointed. Games that are desginated PS4 pro enhanced noticably look better on a 4K TV. Some other details are noticible in some games (like better textures and lightining). Also noticed in Boost mode some older games run a bit more smoothly. Overall I am happy with upgrading.
For those on the fence it is only worth it if you already own a 4K TV, otherwise I would recommend holding off until you upgrade your TV.

I bought a new 4K TV so it only felt right to get a 4K capable console. The only thing is my old PS4 with a 1TB hybrid SSD/HDD is noticeably quicker at most tasks but it's probably from the hard drive and the fact it is only outputting 1080P. I'm considering upgrading to a 2TB or more in my pro. I highly recommend a Hybrid SSD/HDD or solid state drive if you can afford it. Surprising performance boosts! Overall I'm happy with my purchase!

i own ps4 prior to ps4 pro.. i have no issues with my old system but i was looking for something with bigger storage space and extra usb ports.. Pro delivered all of that plus much more.. Great performance, much faster, seems like newer games looks awesome on my 4k tv.. if you have spare $$$ invest it
