    So far so good

Upgraded to a 4K/HDR TV this year, and I used my old PS4 briefly on it. It looked like I wasn't taking advantage of the better display so I decided to upgrade my console as well. So far it's been a blast. I know the Pro doesn't output native 4K, but the picture quality and performance has definitely improved compared to the vanilla PS4. I plan to re-play Horizon Zero Dawn on it as well as try out Uncharted Lost Legacy. Can't wait.

I thought it was too soon...

I thought it was too soon to upgrade to the PS4 Pro as I already have an original PS4 and was waiting for the "PS5" (If and when that ever comes out). I purchased the PS4 Pro because the original PS4 was in high demand in my household. The new PS4 "standard" was not an option as I wanted the extra drive space, 4K capability and the extra processing power. What's noticeable immediately, is when we play games like: Far Cry - Primal and Overwatch. On the original PS4, the fan makes a lot of noise. The same games on the PS4 Pro run smoother (better frame rate), look cleaner and crisper and the fan is whisper quiet! It's like the machine isn't stressing at all. The HDMI cable that comes in the box is capable of handling 4K TV. Unfortunately I don't have a 4K TV yet, but bringing home the PS4 Pro is certainly enough incentive to very seriously consider it now. As you can imagine, me and my family are enjoying the new system very much. I'm glad I chose to purchase the new system. BK

Parental controls and profile mgmt could be better

Of the 4 consoles we have (Wii, WiiU, Xbox One, PS4), the PS4 is the least flexible in terms of parental controls and profile management. If you're purchasing for an adult or older child (13+) this may not be an issue. PS4 gives you 11 pre-defined parental control levels in addition to age limitations. I would prefer to have the ability to grant exceptions for some games. We set up a master profile and separate sub profiles for each of our kids (11 and 10) which allows us to assign different parental controls to each sub profile. The downside of this is, when they receive PS gift cards the balance is credited to the master profile and there isn't an option to distribute gift card funds to sub profiles. You can set spending limits for charging against a credit card on the master profile but this doesn't solve the issue of managing gift card balances for multiple users. Additionally, it appears that online gameplay is restricted by default for any sub profile where the user is under 13 years of age, which I'm fine with except that there is not a setting to allow the user to play the game offline. A few of the games we bought for our 11 year old require online gameplay and they will not even launch from his profile, so the only way he can play them is from the master profile, which defeats the entire purpose of parental controls. In terms of overall quality, graphics, processor speed, and ease of use, PS4 is great. My only complaint is the lack of flexibility in setting parental controls and profile management, which I feel Microsoft nailed with its Xbox platform.

    4K Gaming at its Finest

The Playstation 4 Pro is the go-to console for true gamers. In terms of processing power it is 2-3 times more powerful than the original PS4. Compared to the regular PS4, it features an upgraded GPU, upclocked CPU, and a larger hard drive. This results in games with higher frame rates and better graphics. The only knock on this console, as others have noted, it does not feature a 4K Blu Ray player.

I think it is still too early to tell how much better than the regular PS4 this is but so far I am pleased with the improvements. It's really nice having 1TB of storage, no more deleting games just to try new ones. The PS4 Pro is bigger, heavier, and meaner. There is an extra USB port in the back and an optical toslink connector too. When i purchased this I was two weeks into Battlefield 1 on PS4, after popping it into the Pro, the difference in framerate was immediately noticeable. the resolution is far from 4K, but still contained much better anti aliasing and overall looked much cleaner. The framerate improvement looked like it was around 20fps in 64 player conquest, that alone was worth the upgrade for me personally. I have a 4K HDR tv but have yet to run the other titles that take advantage of higher resolutions but I hear they look great. I feel like this is what the original PS4 should have been. Iam very happy with my purchase.

I play at my friends house quite a bit on a regular resolution TV land on the PS4 slim and gameplay is very good and graphics are pretty great but whenever I play at my house on my 4K TV in my PS4 Pro it makes the quality of the regular PS4 and regular TV seem obsolete truly is an amazing combination don’t waste your money unless you’re going to pair it with a 4K TV though

I got this on Black Friday so my review is that I am still getting used to it and so far I have no complaints. I did my research and I am aware of the pros and cons. I've done all I can and have plans set in place to avoid falling into any of the cons which are directly related to Sony as a company and not so much this product and its performance. I also got the Geek Squad protection for any unknown circumstances. So far it works fine and games play flawlessly. There are tons of resources online that can help with making the best use of this console if that's what you want. Me, I just want to play games - mostly exclusive games. So far one of the best things about picking this up is the sale. I put off getting it until the holidays because I was really hoping for a price drop. I got my wish! My apologies if this is not a terribly helpful review. Since I am still new at it best I can summarize is to say that it works and I am enjoying it very much.

After having a PS3 for a couple years and it beginning to die out on me, I am so happy that the decision was made to upgrade! I am overall very happy with the performance of the PS4! It has wonderful apps, is so much faster compared to the PS3 and is everything I've wanted in a Playstation console! I am excited to continue to use and love it!

I upgraded from the regular PS4 after I got a 4k tv, and I must say that I was genuinely surprised at the noticable difference. The speed for one is much faster, whether it's load times in games or streaming video. Also the picture is amazing (as it should be with 4k). If you are looking to upgrade I would recommend it completely, although if you don't have a 4k tv I would recommend upgrading your TV to get the full potential. The only problem I've found is that it puts off significantly more heat than the normal PS4. This could limit the places it can be stored. I have a small nook under my tv with no ventilation and I noticed it was getting very hot but all was fixed with small ventilation fans, which I bought on Amazon for less than $30, and now it's running cool smoothly.

Life long gamer. Had the PS2, PS3 (three different models), and this is my second PS4 (destiny 1 edition was my first). It's by far the best so far. Noticably better graphics and frame rate. Still not as good as my PC, which I consider middle of the road. But Sony has some of the best exclusives, and I'm happy to buy this to play them.

I've been gaming for 26 years. The ps4 pro was made for gamers. It is 2 to 3 times more powerful than the normal ps4 and it's only 399! It's only 100 dollars more than then the other ps4. For those who are upset about it not having a 4K Blu Ray movie player built in it was made for games not movies! The price of the ps4 pro would be about another 200 dollars if it was included. You need understand that this is for gamers. Also it's not necessary for you to have a 4K HDR tv to benefit from this .The ps4 pro also improves on 1080p TVs with better graphics and faster frame rates and overall a much better performance. If you have a 4K HDR tv then you can obviously play games in 4K HDR. At the end of the day get the ps4 pro or if you really want that 4K blu ray player get the Xbox one s

I love my old PS4 but it sounds like a jet engine. Can even hear it with headphones on. I even put new thermal paste on heatsink and cut a hole in the bottom and installed a fan grill so fresh air flows into the fan direct. Didn't help. PS4Pro is silent 90 percent of the time. I love that. When it does ramp up it is half the volume of old PS4 and quiets back down quickly. 4K upscale for older games is nice and adds a crispness to the image. Only played a few games with enhancements for PRO but they run and look great. My friend said PSVR games look and run much better on a Pro when they get an update.

I originally had the PS4, after purchasing a 4k TV I was kind of obligated to get this PS4 PRO. I was glad I did!! More memory and faster. Games on a 4K display are much better. Better graphics. I enjoy my games more now. I still have to get used to sounds coming off this system's remote. If you have 4k display you should upgrade.

Ok so this is of course bigger than the regular PS4 but my sons ps4 broke three days before Christmas. I know hes spoiled . Anyways I got his and he loves it. The graphcs are amazing on the 4K you look like you are there plus the space it has on it is amazing. He can actually get alot of his games onto the console. Where as before his Red Dead took up almost half the memory in the other so he would have to delete other games to play one. Very happy with the purchase. I did this as a lease and the guys at the counter were super helpful. It was nice to not have to pay at Christmas the entire amount and to have them recommend what to go with.

We love the PS4, and when we upgraded our tv to a 4k tv, we talked about getting the pro. It's well worth it. The graphics alone look amazing and you really can tell the difference when playing games. The PS4 had lots of artifacts on the new tv. The pro looks flawless!!! Can't express enough how amazing it looks!

I traded in my original PS4 for an upgrade to Pro when I was upgrading to my 4K TV. I really wanted to experience gaming at its max while on a console. I gotta say, this is an amazing piece of Tech. It handles 4K incredibly, all the different games I've played in 4K are stunning!!! Horizon Zero Dawn is very immersive, BF1 is clean. Overwatch runs great at 60FPS, Infamous Second Son is also very very pretty. The Pro also takes advantage of its technology with a new update, which allows games that are not Pro enabled (think FFXIV, older games), to be Boosted, allowing for easier frame rate and very clean gaming. This feature is under the system settings. Overall, I love my Pro! I can't recommend it enough!
