After word came out about poor emulation, i agreed only to buy it if the price hit $20. After a year it finally did, and even though ill never play it, it still looks great next to the nintendo classic consoles.

Was in the lookout for this product, came out with an ooping $100 tag and once came, had mixed feedbacks, then came this offer, with existing rewards points, got it for a good deal, definitely a nostalgic collectible.

Bought this mostly to add to my gaming collection and because of the nostalgia of the original system. The quality of the system feels perfectly fine, and the controllers feel like the usual Sony quality. I knew the game selection wasnt great going in, but half of these Ill never even start once, they should have added better quality games. While the hardware seems solid, the software emulation feels very slow and lazily implemented. Hopefully some aftermarket tweaks will make this niche system what it should have been. For the $100 price tag, I can't recommend anyone buy this for anything other than a collectable item.

I'm reviewing this solely as the product that it was sold as, without any modifications that's readily available on the internet. Starting with the good parts: For the price, it's a nice retro console and probably the cheapest at this point, thanks to all of the things it lacks, which drove the price to what it is today. It comes with nice solid controllers, albeit, no analog sticks like the original PS1. It's pretty easy to boot up and play. USB port for controllers is very nice in that you can probably hookup any other USB gaming controller and play, plus you can extend the short controller using a USB extension cable. Half the games are good solid games. The bad: Why doesn't it come with a power brick? It's really not that expensive and with the original asking price, I can't understand why they didn't include one. The controllers are very short. Some games are pretty bad. PAL 50fps conversion was a horrible idea. For the original price, it really doesn't come with enough games. For the price that was paid, not too bad. Overall it was a good purchase, at the current price, but if Sony decides to do something similar with PS2, please take note of all of the feedback that buyers are giving you and use them.

Playstation classic is fun but disappointing for a few reasons. Reason number one is the lack of legendary games such as Crash Bandicoot, Tomb Raider, and Gran Turismo. But there are some pretty good ones such as Grand Theft Auto, Intelligence Qube, Tekken 3, and Twisted Metal. Another reason is the ridiculous cable length, which isn't as appalling as the cable for the NES classic, but still annoying and makes the console hard to play on a couch with a big screen TV. Hasn't Sony heard of Bluetooth? Also why are most of the games European versions? And why no AC adapter? I love the small design of the console, if only the disc tray was able to be opened. While there are annoyances, there is some enjoyment you can get out of the console. The games are still pretty good even if some of them are irrelevant to the legacy of the PS1. I am fine with the lack of analog sticks, as they make the controller look like the original Dualshock, and is not really a annoyance like the wires. (They could have at least made the wires longer, geez) What my point is, if you are not a big PS fan, or have the original PS1, then stay away as far as possible. If you are willing to accept the faults of the console, you might find some enjoyment out of it like I did, even though some of the cons kinda annoy me to this day. You can't deny the game are exciting and fun anyway. I can understand why this console is getting so much hate though, Sony could have made this amazing or at least make the games available for PS4, but they choose to make an very imperfect console instead.

I originally pre-ordered this system, never opened it, watched the initial reviews and honestly returned it (unopened) seeing the price was going to drop eventually. Its a 3 star product at $99. The recent price drop to $59 is why I gave it a 4 star. now onto the device, super happy with the platform, its OPEN system OS allows for expansion and already people have hacked the system to play games off a USB. Out of the box, this is great for kids and a flash back on when the PS was a big hit. I already have the NES and SNES that I play with my kids, this one will be re-purchased at the lower price point to enjoy with the kids and my child hood games. reason for no 5 stars is lack of AC plug (not that we need it, plenty of us all have them, or plug the USB into side of TV like I do with NES and SNES, but still include the $5 item), and there are numerous games not included in the release of the system. (Crash bandicoot, Gran Turismo, Parappa the Rapper, etc) I wanted more games on it. overall I think its a solid 3.5/5 stars. Recommend for anyone who wants a flashback game night, something for the kids to play with/family game night, or a game collector.

The Playstation Classic is a flawed mini console. Some of it's main issues are the use of PAL versions of it's games, the lack of a AC plug, a lacking choice of games that at least has some real gems of gaming history, and a not too useful save system (only 1 per game, and easy to get confused if you're saving or canceling the save). But if you're able to get this below the 30 dollar mark, it has some redeeming qualities. The lack of internal security makes it easy to modify into a more useful retro gaming console, the presentation of the system itself and the packaging is nice, two USB controllers, and some good classics even if they're slow due to being from the wrong region (Final Fantasy 7, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 1 for example). If you want something to represent this era of gaming or are curious to try modifying gaming consoles in the vein of the Raspberry pi, then it's a fantastic value when it's under the 30 dollar range.

I won't rehash the prevailing opinions. Sony definitely could have implemented this better. Heck, they could have easily improved on what Nintendo did but instead, they went the cheap route in terms of the emulation and the UI. I do like the portable size but I really wish that Sony had chosen the slate of games for this system better, especially not choosing PAL games for the North American market. I tried the games and while I like some, many of them were just meh. The only redeeming factor is that Sony chose not to encrypt the OS and it is probably one of the easiest to mod game systems out there. I would say that if you can get this under $25, it is at least worth a look especially if you plan to mod it. Anything over that, you paid too much and if you were an early adopter, you definitely paid way too much!

The Playstation Classic is a good product for those looking for a Playstation Nostalgia trip, but it feels like it's not created with the amount of love that the competing units from Nintendo were. Emulation of some of the games is a bit shoddy, and I wish the Classic Controllers were Dualshock, not the initial controllers that were offered on the PS1. Missing some classic games, like Crash Bandicoot, Ape Escape (which required Dualshock controller, so I understand it not being included), Spyro, etc. NOTE: You can make this into a 4 star product by adding ROMS via Bleemsync or Autobleem, but that gets you into a new ethical dilemma regarding emulations vs. piracy. For the $20 I paid, it's a no brainer. The Controllers are also PC compatible, which is fun for nostalgic games on the computer as well!

Decent retro console... I like that it came with 2 controllers, but don't like that a plug for the USB power cable wasn't included. Some classic games were included like Twisted Metal, however better versions of these same games (ie: Twisted Metal 2) existed on the same console. Lots of missing titles like Crash, Spyro, etc. At $20 on sale, it was a killer deal. At full price, not so much...

You will need a power brick for the USB cable that provides power, I wish they would have included one. Add that I would have loved a slightly different set of games. But for how easy this is to set up and the fact you can store save points via the internal memory and you get two playstation dual shock controllers that connect via USB for the price. It is a good buy.

For the price (20+tax) this console is hard to beat. The first thing I did was mod it to run 300+ games instead of the standard 20. This could easily be a 5-star rating if it came with more games but fortunately it's easy enough to remedy. The price of the console seems to fluctuate between 20 and 60 bucks. As soon as it hits 20 again I'll buy a few more!

I’m a 90s kid through and through and when I saw the PlayStation Classic I was hit with a massive wave of nostalgia. I was disappointed when the reviews said it didn’t live up to the hype but when the price dropped from 100 to 60 I had no qualms about getting the system. The system itself is so little and adorable but I was disappointed there was no Crash Bandacoot or Tony Hawk Pro Skater since those were games I played religiously as a kid. I also played a lot of WWF Warzone but no one expected that to be on a classic system lol. I don’t play modern systems/games and the last video game system I owned was a GameCube so I was very rusty playing the original PlayStation but a lot was able to come back to me. Am I dissapointed with the game choices? Sure but I had fun playing Resident Evil, Ridge Racer and Final Fantasy. So far I’m really happy with this system and the nostalgic happy feels it gives me.

I picked this up for $20, which is a fair price. The game selection on it is limited, but the 2 usb controllers work on computers as well. Cords on controllers could be longer. Upgrades are available online to turn this system into a retro gaming gem.

It comes with a lot of the games we loved back then, but there could be a lot more. A few odd slowdowns too, I would have loved to see some official way to expand this, and dualshock controllers.
