Worth the "On Sale" price

Picked this card up as a replacement for my EVGA 8800 GTX. Got it on sale for $199. That's comparable to online sites regular prices but there's no shipping involved! This was pretty much the best card I could get for my four year old system board (EVGA 680i) and power supply I have (700w). Fully compatible with the older PCIe x16 spec. Right off the bat I noticed this card runs much cooler than the 8800, even under load. I primarily play SC2, CounterStrike, and BF Bad Company 2 and this card breezed through them all. Installed in minutes. Went to NVIDIA's web site and got the latest drives so I didn't even bother with the install CD. It's shorter and lighter than the 8800 so fitting it in smaller cases shouldn't be an issue. If you're budget limited like I am this card blends price and performance like no other!

This card is doing very well matched with a Phenom II X4 955. With a 1680x1050 monitor I'm able to max or almost max every in game setting and keep a good FPS. The card is physically small considering its ability so it will fit in almost any case. Its very cool running and extremely quiet. PNY uses Nvidia's "reference" cooler and its a good one. While game it only hits 64C maximum and that's quite low. At idle the card throttles down and is only using 15W of power, so its very thrifty and cool running while surfing the web in 2D mode. Its definitely the best value in graphics cards at this moment.

This is an excellent graphics card. The card supports the latest Direct X 11 features, and has CUDA acceleration for video editing. The price/performance on these cards is great, and they are short, quiet, and cool running. Installation is a breeze, and my PC is now able to run most games completely smoothly at full HD resolution with all of the features turned on.
Highly recommended.

will i am not good at reviewing. but i can say this is a good card for hard core gamers. it does what i needs to do. now this is not the over clocked edition. and i dont know why you guys would need one. this one is the Nvidia defult chipset that nvidia has on there web page. but i did some comparing to what the nvidia and ati card i have currently and this card is replacing. now i have the xfx 5770 radeon HD card with 1 GB of GDDR5 ram. but i am not a fan of the radeon series cards. i am mostly a fan of the all-in-wonder series ATI has. but other then that. this card when i put it in man games look clear more real then ever. i have the nvidia 3d vision kit and all i can say is wow. it does 3d perfectly with my 3d moniter. and my vuzix VR headset looks like vr. this card fixed what my other card could not do. is keep up with frames. after i got this it fixed the 120hz problem i had. which is that i am getting over 120 frames/sec constance with this card. and i have everything turn to max at 1680X1050 @120hz. this is one fast card. and i am glad to replace the other card. it was lacking the keeping up with frames. and at 120hz the ati card slowed down this speed up. it was more like 70 frames sec to this cards 120 frames sec.
you guys need to get this card. every game i have works perfectly. and in 3d with no slow downs.

I have owned many video cards, a few different brands, all costing around this price point
.
This is BY FAR the best video card I have owned. My processor is my bottleneck, but this card still eats up games. Once I upgrade my processor, I can only imagine.
If you are looking for a great gpu that won't break the bank, look no further. Another great thing about this card is that it's not a super power hog. A 500w psu will do just fine.
Installation was a breeze, drivers have been very stable, and I have had no issues.
Runs Crysis on high settings, and Mass Effect 2 with everything totally maxed.
It's not as big as other graphics card that are this powerful, so you don't need to worry about case room. It does take up two pci slots for video outputs, and fan exhaust, but it's not as long as the gpu's it's stacked up against.
I really can't say enough about this card!

Was having some issues (missing textures, flashing lights, low fps, etc) with the beta 260.xx drivers, but now with the 260.99 driver, my games (L4D2, Fallout: NV, Dirt 2, and the new Medal of Honor) are playing buttery smooth with everything maxed out.

Well i also upgraded from 1gb 250 GTS, I play alot of Metro 2033, Dragon Age, CSS, BFBC2 and others. But anyway the card is smaller, more powerful, less noise and a nice price. But the fact is that the card has no stable drivers that susstain you buying this card. 258 and Beta 260 are a freaking joke, i crash atleast 8 times during Dragon Age and settings at High Quality, Medium Textures, no AA! Cmon man. So in short until better drivers are released i would not buy ANY 4oo series card.

Very Solid Card For The Money.

This card was a replacement for a Sapphire 4850 that was starting to show its age in more ways than one. The reason I went with Nvidia this time around was primarily due to more and more software being optimized for the CUDA core gpu.
Yes, the 460 does give better frame rates in games, support DX 11, and it even runs cooler and quieter than the 4850 did. But, as a real added bonus(you may not expect), there are many other software apps that move a whole lot faster because of the CUDA cores on the Nvidia side. Just as an example: Xilisoft video converter saw the new 460 at once and activated its cores to assist in converting video. It's now 5X faster on 264MP4....huge difference.
There's a lot of good reasons to buy this card. It's not a 580 to be sure. But for $200? You can't beat it for the money. Also, keep in mind...two 460's in SLI run neck in neck or slightly faster than a $500 GTX580. Just sayin....

I upgraded from a 260 GTX. I found three very noticeable differences. One, the 460 is much quieter when under a heavy load. Two, the 460 is faster when editing Videos and during 3D gaming. Three, those of you with micro-towers will find this card about an inch shorter than the 260 GTX, a much better fit for smaller cases. I have tried about 15 video cards in the last ten years, both ATI and nVidia brands. I moved to strictly nVidia five years ago. I have three desktop computers and each has either an XFX, PNY or BFG nVida card. My play and work computer has the 460 GTX. I am very pleased with all the cards but especially this new upgrade. I sold 260 GTX at eBay with no problems at all.

I just upgraded after a year using a low end graphics card for half the price and I am shocked how great this card is for the price and how well it runs. I needed to upgrade my power supply which was totally worth it. The card is easy to install and even though it looked large, it still fit into my tiny Dell tower. (just barely with no cable relocations).
Gaming-wise, wow! I tested out all my games to see what they looked like now, and I was able to run them on their max settings with no troubles. My games never looked so crisp and clean! I thought they looked ok before but now, it is unbelieveable. Loading times are way faster too!
My advice is to get this card. You'll have instant and lasting gratification and it will hopefully not go out of date any time soon.

After another card failed I chose this card as a replacement. I would award it 5 stars all along except at the time I purchased, the manufactures suggested retail price was 50$ less than I paid. I am willing to overlook that to get the card in my hands now instead of waiting for shipping.
This card is quite fast offering good frame rates for FPS games. It is light and the fan is not obnoxious like some cards I have used. It is shorter than my previous 9800GX2 so it fit in my case without crowding. Power draw is modest. I don't know about DX11 yet.

I recent got this graphics card, and I have to say that it is worth every penny. I use my desktop PC for just about everything, and my old 8800GTX wasn't keeping up with todays games so well, so I went out and bought this graphics card. This graphics card runs GTA IV maxed out with no problem, it runs World of Warcraft just fine too.

Excellent Nvidia GPU!

Let me start out by saying that I recently built a gaming computer and originally had 2 GTS 250 GPUs installed. I was trying to save a little money by using the GTS 250's but found out as usual, you get what you pay for. After playing Starcraft II and other demanding titles, the GTS 250's weren't cutting it. They had horrible fan noise, something equivalent to a hairdryer, probably due to the high amounts of heat they produced (idle ~50*C and full load ~75+*C). They also lacked a true HDMI output.
After shelling out some more cash and installing the GTX 460's, I immediately noticed a difference in gameplay performance, noise, and heat. These GPU's run much cooler (idle ~ 35*C and full load ~65*C) and they also have whisper quiet fans. The SLI configuration is great for games that Nvidia has drivers for, I can definitely tell a difference. Performance wise the GTX 460 is an awesome GPU; great FPS and very smooth and fluid gameplay. The GTX 460 also scores very well on GPU tests such as 3Dmark Vantage, so if your are interested try taking a look at some test results. My score was around 12,500 for 3Dmark Vantage with 2 GTX 460's. Another thing to look forward to is the overclockability of the 460; although I have not done it yet, it seems fairly straightforward and provides excellent results!
The 460 has 2 DVI outputs and one mini HDMI output (mini HDMI to HDMI connector included). I have hooked my computer up to my Samsung TV via HDMI cable and it looks really sharp.
One thing to remember is that this GPU requires 2 6-pin power connections, but it does come with a 6-pin to molex adapter if your PSU doesn't have an extra (or in my case 2 extra) 6 pin GPU power cords.
Overall I am so glad I made the jump to the GTX 460 GPUs and look forward to using them for years to come!

After my ATI video card died for the second time I decided to stick with Nvidia. After reading several video card reviews I went with the GeForce GTX 460 1GB. I play BFBC2 at 1920x1080 with all the settings on max. This is the best buy (pun intended) I have made in relation to video cards. There is a cheaper version with 768mb of memory but the savings were not enough to take a chance on it. You will not be disappointed if you buy this card.
Another plus is if I decided to upgrade again I will simply add a second card to my computer and run two cards is SLI. It will be cheaper and faster than one GTX 480.

I never expected this graphics card to perform as great as it does. I can play most games on max settings at 1920x1080(max resolution of my monitor) at good frame rate. I tested it with Crysis War Head on enthusiast settings, 2xAA and at 1920x1080 and played it at a solid 30FPS.
The price is a little to high online so you are better off buying it at a Best Buy location. I paid $70 less at the store itself. But for the price I paid you cant really beat it. I also recommend overclocking it. It handles overclocking very well and stays cool. I also recommend SLI with this card because with the extra GTX460 you can out perform a GTX 480 by 10-16% at a cheaper price.

I wanted to upgrade the GeForce 8400 GS that was originally installed on my HP Pavillion Media Center PC. After comparing multiple options , I decided on this one (PNY GeForce GTX 460) and have been EXTREMELLY happy with it. I actually tried the XFX HD 5750 and XFX HD 5770 but kept getting "freezing" and "display driver has encountered a problem" while playing games ( they worked great while not gaming ). I am able to play WoW at High-Max settings on 1920 X 1200 resolution WideScreen Flat-Panel monitor with NO problems. You cannot go wrong with this card at this price !

After a few years of running an aTi 4670, I decided to upgrade and give nVidia a go again. I get worse performance on the same settings as I did with my older GPU. Will be taking it back first thing, when the store opens and get another aTi card.
Not sure when buying 3 generations ahead of what you have that you get same or worse performance.

This is a big step up card from the PNY GTS-250, the card I had before. (Also bought from best-buy a few years back; paid the same.)
Having said this, I'm taking this card back ASAP. It's not the OC edition, not even a small boost in the card. Yet after tax's you pay $270. I can get the OC version online for 199.99 free shipping. For what I spent, I can grab an EVGA 560ti and still save.
400's run hot, but PNY has not stepped up their cooling yet like other companies. Thought they would after the 200's. The PNY OC version is a bit of a better card. I'd recommend a 500 series card though as they run cooler. Also go EVGA as they are a much better product.
