GOTTA CATCH EM ALL
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was adamant about purchasing this game for a long while as I knew it wasn’t a core Pokemon game, the one thing that threw me off was the leveling and catching mechanic. I didn’t like the idea of using a joy-con I’d much prefer a pro controller but it was surprisingly comfortable. It’s less evasive and you can leisurely play it with one hand.

Wonderful Pokémon game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is both a nod to those seeking nostalgia and to those that are new to playing Pokémon on a non-mobile platform. The game is a hybrid of the original Pokémon Red/Blue game and the mobile app Pokémon Go, but it doesn’t take away from the experience. The game looks amazing in HD and I love how you can see wild Pokémon running around on the screen. Catching mechanics essentially follow the Pokémon Go format, but you still have the ability to battle other trainers in the game. It’s a great game in my opinion and i’ve spent countless hours playing it.

Great value
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Technically the poke ball is not necessary to play the game. The regular joy cons work just fine. But My son is a huge Pokémon fan, and I wanted to give him the full experience. Parents note, the pole all has an exclusive character that you can only get with the physical pole all in this package. You know the saying... got to catch them all!

So much nostalgia!!!!!!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nostalgia is the best word I can use to describe this game. It's like the old red, blue, yellow, fire red, and leaf green. They made the original region I grew up come to life and you can finally SEE THE POKEMON!!!!! There's no more random zubats every five steps. You can catch all the Pokémon without restrictions now. The only thing is I wish they made like the old games where you had to battle the Pokémon to catch them. Sure playing Pokémon go on your TV is fun, but it would have been better in my opinion if it was like most Pokémon games.

Good Pokémon Fun
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a good addition to games on the Switch. The controls can be a little difficult, especially with the pokeball. I was able to adjust pretty quickly. It’s nice to be able to take a Pokémon around with you in the PoGo Plus. I thought I wouldn’t like the watered down version of catching Pokémon, however it makes it a bit easier and more casual. It’s a great game to play on the bus or when waiting as it makes it easy to pick up and put down. The visuals are great! Recommended if you’re looking for a casual Pokémon game on the go.

Love it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. An enjoyable romp back into the original series. I'm loving it so far, but more than that I'm loving how simple things are. While I enjoy the complexity of the main series, I'm also loving this laid back, charming adventure. My family, whose only played Pokemon Go, got into this game and are excited to play the series into the future.

Not a Mainline, but still fun
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a spin off title to the pokemon series of games that will blow hard nostalgia at your face. Alot of the features are heavy inspired by Pokemon GO with should have functionality with the game as well. It's a fun, easy, romp of a game which should be worth your money if you wanna slip those rose tinted shades on your face.

Addictive but a bit lacking
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought it for my wife. With most main line Pokemon games we would buy one for each of us, but neither of us were hooked from the initial "its a remake of Pokemon Yellow, but with Pomeon go mechanics" news --- it was only after seeing various special touches such as the follow animations and overall interactions that we decided to get a copy. She's been addicted to it for a week now. She probably would have beaten the main story in half that time but has been having fun beating gym leaders out of the intended order / chaining for shiny pokemon. I've jumped in/out a few times via the co-op feature. It's a bit overpowered as standard battles become 2v1 and experience spikes when capturing with synchronized throws --- but it's also just a lot of fun to have a random guy enter/mess around/leave. One strange aspect though is that the 2nd player is completely left out when double battles occur. Visually, the game looks great. The environment is lively with dancing grass and Pokemon running about. It struggles with frame rate in a few places, but nothing as bad as the 3DS titles. Content wise, it's a bit lacking. Dropping from 700+ to the original 150+ pokemon and associated moves/abilities is disappointing. There seems to be lack of flavor text for tech/papers and a general lack of interactability with the environment --- you can't sit down in an open chair. There's online play (if you are paying for Nintendo Switch Online), but nothing approaching previous titles. It's dumbed down to only connecting with people who share a code (a 3 pokemon sprite code you can select / inform a friend of) rather than any sort of matchmaking. It also doesn't support cloud saves and currently has no interaction with Pokemon Bank. I'm hoping there is an update to allow one or the other --- preferably the former, nothing sucks more than losing hundreds of hours of training. As for the Pokeball Plus, my wife wanted it for the novelty / Pokemon Go aspects but has definitely struggled with it as an actual controller. Mapping the "A" button to clicking the stick has caused many mis-clicks. Being radially symmetrical has also hampered directional throwing more than once.

Fun but kid sized
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Pokeball is definitely a gimmick but is definitely not made for adults who grew up playing the game. If you have adult hands, the ball will be a bit small for your hands and may give you hand cramps for extended amount of play. The game itself is a great re imagining from the original with updated story and graphics.

Great trip down Nostalgia Lane
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pretty phenomenal rehash of the old series, my biggest complaint is that it's a smidge too easy (but otherwise it's a lot of fun!)

Great for New and Old People
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I played the original Pokemon and this is great for those of us that had! You can relive your memories and the game adds enough new stuff that make it interesting but kept so much from the originals to make it nostalgic. As for new comers to the Kanto region, welcome and enjoy as I am sure almost everyone will!

Very Enjoyable and Nostalgic
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game was so fun. Honestly I was worried about the non-random encounters but now I don't want to go back. The pokeball controlled does so much more than what it seems. When catching a pokemon it does the 3 vibrations before you catch it and makes sounds, and works on your phone with Pokemon Go too. I LOVE IT.

Great game to play with kids
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My kid is 6 and doesn’t always enjoy doing the things I try and introduce to her that I enjoy. She took to this game fast, it was easy to pick up, and we had a lot of fun playing it together in 2 player mode. I’m so happy that my kid FINALLY gets what makes Pokémon so fun. She loved using the pokeball plus!
