Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with Pokémon's engaging gameplay, captivating story, and expansive Wild Area. Many praise the game's ease of use and accessibility, while also enjoying the open-world exploration and additional downloadable content. Some players, however, found the game's challenge level to be too simple and expressed concerns about the number of Pokémon available and the overall amount of content. Despite these criticisms, the positive feedback on various aspects of the game is significant.

Our daughter wanted to get a new game for her Nintendo Switch and decided on this one. It has excellent graphics and has been a lot of fun to play.

Pokémon Sword/Shield brings the mainline Pokémon series to switch and delivers! Graphics and gameplay mechanics are greatly improved and the wild area is such a great new addition!

It's been a while since I've played a Pokemon handheld game. I'm glued now. Graphics are great, gameplay is what I remember, and the Pokemon never cease to amaze me.

Very short compared to previous pokemon games. I had fun but I missed the amount of content and variety in previous titles. Would not recommend paying full price for the game

I love Pokémon and I really got into this game but it was way too easy to beat, it only took me 4 days to beat it. But it was really fun and the graphics were amazing!

Pokemon Shield is a great first entry for Pokemon on the Switch. The graphics are great, the new Gyms have a fun twist, and the new Pokemon are neat. Highly recommend!

Played the original red/blue games back when I was in grade school. I am not much of a gamer but had a switch for parties and holidays to entertain the kids. Picked this one to play during quarantine and it was a blast from the past. Enjoyed the gameplay (although a bit easy and slow). It's perfect for a relaxing, backseat style of play. This is definitely not something that you're playing on the edge of your seat as it progresses very slowly. However, despite all that, I have found myself playing it to occupy spare time in between conference calls (working from home) and any idle time you may have. It's easy to pick up and get started, just as easy to put down when you need to attend to something else. Overall, I recommend this game - it was like getting transplanted back 20+ years when I would play the original games through the wee hours of the night.

This was the first mainline Pokémon game on consoles ever... and meh. I’d be lying if I said this wasn’t the best mainline Pokémon game made to date, BUT I’m relatively speaking. If this was on 3DS this would be amazing but on console... no. Yes, I know graphics are not everything, and pokemon follows a specific art style... but this game was poorly optimized with its poor frame rate, terrible draw distances (characters pop in and out in towns only 10ft from you) I am aware of how capable the switch is, it is MORE powerful than an Xbox 360/PS3 yet it sufferers issues from the PS1 era? It’s a good game... but I've also played Breath of the Wilds, and I can’t help but feel like I just paid for a $60 3DS game.

If you're like me and you haven't owned a Pokemon game since the Game Boy Advance days (apart from Pokemon Go and the Let's Go series), there's a good chance that this game will be an uncomfortable play the first couple hours. Eventually, it just falls into the same line like all the other games: Get a starter, get gym badges, fight against and alongside your rival to the Champion League, battle a criminal organization, yada yada yada...not to say this is bad, but it's expected. The Wild Area is a refreshing new experience. It definitely helps you power up your Pokemon much quicker, and with the online functionality, you can get some pretty strong and rare Pokemon early in the game. The new camping feature is a little too helpful: It's essentially a mobile Pokemon center. All in all, I've enjoyed playing through the bits I have so far. This game will appeal to new and old fans alike.

Was expecting this game to be trash as it's another pokemon game with the same formula for over 20yrs but I ended up having a lot of fun with this one! Dont care much for the new mechanic on gigamax but I do like the way the world is set. Wish the whole game was set up like the wild area portion. Ready to play the dlc. Hope the next game goes away from the gyms and evil team formula and focuses more on integrating a bunch of short stories on pokemon and people in the world that focus on exploration and new battling gameplay.

The camping feature is really fun and I feel much more attached to my Pokémon because of it. It’s also really cool to cook and combine different ingredients while you’re camping. The wild area is a great way to challenge yourself and unlike the previous games, you actually have to try! Additionally, there is a much wider variety of customization options but still no ginger hair. The reasons that it’s not perfect: -The graphics aren’t great compared to other Nintendo games -You probably already know about some Pokémon being un transferable
