Pokémon : Detective Pikachu review Score – 8/10 This silver screen adaptation of the world phenomena successfully takes off by bringing a new genre to the world of Pokémon while also breaking the shackles for video-game based movies.

Very fun movie, I took my brother to see it when it was in theaters and both of us enjoyed it. Enough nods for not only fans that have been with the series for years but also nods to older movies. But all of that is just for fun, you dont need any knowledge of the pokemon franchise in order to follow the movie and enjoy it.

I really wanted to catch this one in the theater, but I missed it. Picked up the 4K steelbook, turns out it was one of the most fun movies of the year. I'm not even really into Pokemon, just a good movie. Looks and sounds great in 4K.

Whst a great story. Follows the one the only Pikachu on a grand adventure, and a good detective story to boot...Can't miss movie, with all the elements, and a love for a son for his missing father.... A must watch family fare...

I honestly did not watch this movie, but my kids loved it. All I hear is my kids laughing and cracking up. They really enjoyed the movie cause they watched it a second time right after they finished watching it the first time

This movie is fantastic to watch and anyone that grew up in the 90's and loved Pokemon it is right down your ally. Acting was very goo and well done its as close that anyone can get to being as realistic as the animated series.

I was overall impressed by this movie. It takes the best elements of the Pokemon world and combines it with an original story based on a lesser known Nintendo 3DS game. But it really works well because of Ryan Reynolds. It's not the best movie ever made by any means, but it's a fun, family friendly adventure.

I liked it more than I thought I would. Very linear plot with no real surprise at the end, but I did end up enjoying it and I especially enjoyed the interactions with the Pokemon. Loved Ryan Reynolds as Pikachu and the lead actor, Justice Smith, was really good as well. An enjoyable, not great movie.

I don’t know anything about Pokémon. Whether you are watching this with a fan of the franchise who knows all the lore or just going in blind for a fun movie night, you will enjoy this. Really funny with awesome visuals.

First of all I love how fast the item got to me. The product over all is great. Collector's item and the movie itself is just a throwback to a part of my childhood that I had always wanted to be as realistic as possible! lol

Pokemon fans must have it! I loved this movie! the effects are so well done the pokemons actually look like real creatures I want them! Really fun story but I'll say it doesn't beat the anime but well nothing's perfect.

Apprehensive when I first heard about this movie being made. It turned out to be really well done and stuck true to most of the original story. Plus Ryan Reynolds as Pikachu... Commmm onnnn! Must buy for any Pokémon fan!

I'm a Pokemon Go player, but not overly familiar with Pokemon from before that. I found this movie to be fun, with a lot of bright, colorful visuals (and excellent CGI effects). The story was entertaining enough, and there is enough jokes that will play well with adults, too, to make it fun for the family.

For a live action Pokemon film, it wasn't that bad. With Ryan Reynolds in the mix, it's hard not to imagine him as Deadpool, because they do throw in some humor that sounds like it could be coming from Deadpool himself. It has its comedic moments, definitely worth checking out but not worth the steelbook

I’m not a Pokémon fan but anything that come out in 3d I will purchase before the 3d area completely dies. But all in all like I said I’m not a fan but this movie actually had some funny moments and the special effects had that nice 3d depth to it. The Pokémon’s saves this movie but the human acting sucked.

A spectacular movie, released in a beautiful steelbook! Detective Pikachu features stellar casting, pulse-pounding fight scenes, with some of the best visual effects in cinema. A must-have volume for any Pokemon fan!

My family and I really enjoyed this movie. It was cute, funny, and touching. My only wish is that they had not opted to use some (albeit mild) foul language in the film - one use of the H word and one use of the D word. The steelbook is beautiful, and the special features are pretty interesting as well.

Detective Pikachu is one of the best adaptations of a video game property yet. While bringing more life,care and detail then any mainline installment in its series. The 4k HDR pictures brings this world to life!!!

If you like Pokemon or want a good family movie, this is a great choice. The story is pretty good and easy to follow. The taken on pokemon is unique and works really well, the jokes and comedy are pretty good too!

My son wanted this movie for his birthday and I am glad I gave in. I was never familiar with the Detective Pikachu storyline and this movie portrayed it well. It was entertaining and worth the purchase to rewatch!
