My kids really enjoyed the movie I thought it was okay

good family movie funny why be watching over and over

It’s a pretty decent movie. The effects are on point.

It's a beautifully crafted world of well made CGI Pokemon and live-action human. I'm glad that the director and artists reached out to RJ Palmer (who did a lot of realistic Pokemon art) and found a balance of making life-like creatures without departing from the video game designs. For a video game movie adaptation, this did a great job. While I didn't play the Detective Pikachu games, it definitely brought to life Pokemon with a care and attention for detail for long time fans.

The kids loved it I guess that's all that matters

Movie is good for a young crowd of boys. I, personal, like Ryan Reynolds voice so I found that enjoyable (he voices the Pikachu character). Animation was a little on the childish side. That said, my son is 14 and he completely loved it.

I personally found this moving watchable, but not much more. A few good actions scenes, Ryan Reynold's did a fantastic job bring humor and heart to the film. Personally, I found some of the acting overbearing and phoned in. The story is predictable but told well enough. Plot holes did not ruin this film in my opinion. I found the main character's ability to not see the obvious to be a bit disconcerting, but it was mostly for the plot. I can't say that I would choose watch this as an adult, but my kids love it. While I wouldn't recommend this to a friend, I might recommend it to their children.

I'm a big fan of Pokemon and Ryan Reynolds. The combination, however, is a little weird. I'm not a big fan of Pikachu having a speaking voice, and would have preferred they went the more traditional route of Pokemon movies.

Whether or not you know about the Pokemon franchise this is an overall great movie. The special effects are amazing. For the fans of the series The cameos are well worth it. Seeing your Pokemon come to life on screen is definitely out of this world. One thing to keep in mind that I did not like is that after the movie and you return to reality, you realize how much it sucks to not have actual Pokemon.
