    Lives Up to the Hype

As someone who’s played Pokémon for as long as they can remember, I genuinely can say this is the Pokémon game a lot of fans have been waiting for. The world is immersive, and feels a lot more like you’re in the Pokémon world rather than just the traditional turn based battle system. The Pokémon have personalities, and it shows when certain Pokémon come up to you to be friendly and others attack unprovoked. However, there are some slight issues. At the times the controls can feel a bit unpolished; for example, the lightest touch can make your character walk and can only be stopped by moving in the opposite direction, which can be really annoying when you’re trying to sneak. Also, the story and people in general could certainly be more fleshed out, although it’s safe to say most people do not play Pokémon for the plot. Overall, I’d say this is the best Pokémon game they’ve ever released, and I’m definitely excited to see how they continue to expand on the Legends format for future games!

I got this as my first pokemon game on the switch and was greeted with a completely new feel compared to previous pokemon games on the DS. It is open world and allows you to explore at your own pace. In addition, the new battling and catching mechanics were a real blast to learn and use.

This is probably one of the best Pokemon games in recent years. Pokemon during the switch era has been the topic of a lot of controversy concerning the quality of the games, some of the issues I have noticed in my own experience while playing Scarlet & Violet or Sword & Shield. But whatever gripes you have about those games, don't use them to judge buying this one. Gamefreak went above and beyond and made something truly special that can resonate with both new fans and old fans and I really respect that. So please, if you're a Pokemon fan, give this one a shot.

This is almost the exact Pokemon game I have always wanted. I just wish there were more traditional gyms and that is was set in the first/second gen worlds like Gold/Silver/Crystal were. Too many new Pokemon for an OG like me to learn these day. lol

This is the game rhat we have always wanted, to see Pokemon roaming freely wjere we can interact with them in an open world like game. This is the most alive a Pokemon game has ever felt and they have fnally improved the battle mechanics. The animations are no longer stiff and Pokemon actually move accrodingly to attacks. You can decide how you want to engage Pokemon, battle them to catch or catch them without battling. This is the first game where the world feels alive and is truly the future for Pokemon.

Nintendo/Gamefreak decided to do something different with Pokemon and it's amazing. This story is unique in that it takes place in a time where Pokemon Trainers and Pokemon Gyms didn't exist. It's an open world-ish and allows for interesting fighting mechanics and very interesting capture mechanics. This game is also works great in handheld mode so JoyCons are all you need. The Pokemon models looks great, it is a beautiful game. Definitely purchase this game, you will have fun.

A different kind of Pokémon game for the series. I enjoyed it much more than Sword and Shield. The open world is fun and the high level pokémon are a challenge. The graphics and textures are not great.

Finally, they listened. After a half dozen Pokemon games played, having an open-world experience where you don't have to beat up pokemon in order to catch them is refreshing. The battle mechanics are similar to the classics, although you can't pick what attack gets forgotten when your pokemon learns a new one (as far as I can see). It's Pokemon meets Monster Hunter and the story is easy enough to follow for kids and older fans like me. I like it!

Open zone exploration game where you catch and befriend pokemon. Work to complete the Pokédex and requests for villagers native to the region. A refreshing change of pace in the Pokemon franchise that I found to be very enjoyable and relaxing game to play.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus has taken the Pokémon franchise to unprecedented heights, redefining what it means to be a Pokémon Trainer. The breathtaking open-world setting of ancient Sinnoh is a masterpiece in itself, with lush landscapes, diverse ecosystems, and a sense of wonder around every corner.

First Pokemon game I have picked up on the switch since the 3DS/2DS games. Like that you can catch all the Pokemon outside of battle if you are sneaky enough. Combat is completely changed from other games, but the majority of the time you are spending completing tasks to fill out an early form of the PokeDex. Great open world concept and it takes on a new angle of what it means to catch Pokemon

This is a great game. It adds some twist to the original flow of a Pokemon game. It really emphasizes catching pokemon to rank up and progress, which is not something I would typically do in a Pokemon game (I don't need 12 of the same Pokemon), but it is still very fun to play, especially if you overachieve and have pokemon 40 levels higher than the area you're in/all the pokemon you encounter.

Pokemon Legends Archeus takes the Pokemon franchise in a fresh new direction, bringing it into the open-world genre of games. While it's not truly open it is expansive and really does feel like you have much more freedom. Visually and gameplay-wise it does look and feel like Pokemon's "Breath of the Wild" moment. From early on you can run out into the open fields, throw a Pokeball and either fight or attempt to catch Pokemon. Mounts are open pretty early in the game as well allowing you to reach terrain once unreachable earlier on. And while the visuals are a big upgrade over past entries, the gameplay has been refined in many new ways as well. It's now seemless battling and catching Pokemon without the need to have the typical battle animations. Also being able to gather resources and craft your own Pokeballs for the first time is a welcome addition. All around the game is more refined and feels like what Pokemon should have been working toward years ago. That said there are a few negatives, and I don't want to briefly mention the visuals. Most of the negative I have heard is on how plain the game can look in scenes. And while this is the case, at times, the game generally looks as good as Breath of the Wild. In all this is an really good game that most Pokemon fans should find to be a breath of fresh air in the series and hopefully a sign of what is to come in potentially a new series.
