Camera hits guard during startup!

After emailing Polar Pro about camera hitting guard during gimbal calibration during start up, Polar Pro responded you have to remove guard before you start Phantom then install after phantom is on. I wouldn't have purchased this guard had I known before hand that you'd have to remove and install every time you start drone. It wasn't in the instructions so you find this out while you watch camera slam into the " protective guard".

well worth the couple bucks spent on it . it protects the camera when sitting on the ground so pressure isnt put on the gimbal . im sure it helped some what when the tree decided to jump out in front of my drone while flying also but not 100% sure . long story short just buy it . added protection never hurts

Waste of money

A waste of $20. Didn't fit well into the legs so I had to modify it to fit. Camera rubs against guard when you first power up the Phantom. Did I mention the guard catches the camera when in flight?? This thing is going right into the trash. Could have burned up my gimbal.

I got this because it seems like a great idea. The gimbal is a very fragile part of your drone and it hangs precariously close to the ground, who knows when a hard landing could be in your future? The package comes in the mail and already I'm excited because I'm thinking of alternate uses like possibly a mount for my seek thermal camera and so on but now onto it's intended use...
Not that it's a difficult part to install but first, I'll state that it came with no instructions. Not bad if it actually fit what they state it will. It doesn't exactly line up on the bottom of the skis with the notches so strike one. I can modify it later. Next, fire up the drone and prepare to take to the skies right? NO! The Gimbal Guard in all it's spectacular design actually hits the gimbal in it's start up. Still, not a hard install so maybe I'll remove it before every flight, fire up, and reinstall. NO!! It still hits the gimbal in my normal flight operation!!! This is garbage from the start. I'm taking mine back today. After I did some digging on internet forums, I find this is completely true for everyone who bought this thing and actually tried it out. The company acknowledges that it can cause damage to the thing it's supposed to be protecting!! DO NOT BUY!!!
Pros - it's sturdy and feels well made
Cons - until you install it and realize it doesn't properly fit without modifications and then find out the camera and gimbal hits the very thing you bought to protect it.

I had it for a few days but all it did was get in the way of the gimbals shots. I honestly just returned it the next day because it made the camera lag because it kept getting stuck in the gaps in the protector. Other than that, useful product if you dont use the gimbal often and you just want that extra protection.
