I needed a sub that had a good low end punch, small form factor and in the moderate price range. I am very happy with the sound quality. I marked it down a star because the first unit I received had an inoperable remote right out of the box.

I'm up grading my system from an all in one to a component type system, I started with the receiver and used the existing speakers to up grade later. What I found was I needed some bass because the all in one sub was not compatible with anything else. (of course right) Well good, because I would have never known what real bass could sound like if I hadn't got this. I hooked it up with the LFE. My house was wired for it. Works as it should. The auto on/off works fine. It dose shut off after some quite time, but comes right back to life when needed. So I try not to watch wimpy movies. Keep that action coming! My room is 19.5 feet by 31 feet. It's like living room, kitchen, and dining room. The kitchen is more but off to the side. Anyway it fills it with bass at half volume. I don't even adjust it any more, it rocks!

This sub met my expectations, it delivered on its sound quality for the variety of needs of our family: I like Jazz my kids are more into the Dubstep scene. Movies and video games are also part of this fare. The wireless hookup that is purchased separately was easy to setup and works flawlessly.

Good addition to the sound system. However, IMO, it's a bit powerful for the space we have it in (normal size living room, with an open staircase).

Really like the remote control. Had a hard time trying to set the others up with the controls on the back of the speaker. This one I could sit in my favorite place and adjust it.

I listened to and compared specs on a lot of subs before I settled on this Polk unit. It looks great, sounds fantastic, is extremely easy to set up, and works as advertised (most of the time). Two complaints: sometimes it makes a fairly loud pop when it turns on, but that could be a problem with my amp, and sometimes I have to push the power button so it will turn on (explains the "most of the time" above). I'm sure if I turned my amp up loud enough it would come on, but I shouldn't have to. It does stay on even at low volumes, so you don't have to worry about it turning off and on during a movie if there are quiet sections. If you're watching something at night and don't want quite as much bass, there is a night mode that turns down the output and dims the light, so once again it is perfect. The remote volume control works great, and once you figure out the blinking light that tells you the volume level you're set. This sub is very versatile, the sound can by customized with the remote or with controls on the back, and the very deep bass will knock your teeth out! Props to Best Buy for getting this to me quickly too. I ordered it on a Friday and it showed up on Monday, in Hawaii! And it came from the west coast, so I was very impressed. I couldn't do in store pickup when I ordered it, and I'm glad because it showed up so quickly, and on my doorstep without having to carry it from the car. This is the one!

was really looking forward to having this becasuse my PSW12, which I had for 6 years died on me. This was is smaller, more powerful and lookd way more slick. I used it for a couple of days then one day it just didn't power up. What really got me is Best Buy wont swap it out for a new one - they insist on me sending it back, refunding my money and then I have to buy another one or soemtething else when all I want is just the same sub woofer

Great sound for an 8" sub

First of all this is a great sub and it does more for the money you spend on it. The bass is great and not distorted. In my opinion this is due to the bigger enclosure as it is more than a cubic foot unlike other 8" subs. It is adjustable to fire forward if you do not like the downward firing woofer design. The remote control comes in handy when you are adjusting the volume and settings with your sound system. The power specs on this are wrong however. This is not a 600W sub and continuous power cannot be 600W as well. Per Polk's site this is 360W at peak and RMS is probably around 180W. I gave it 5 stars not because it is the best sub (that is purely up to your preference) but because of its great performance and additional features that justify it's price range.

    Great sub for all occasions

This 8" Sub sounds great! My hookup is from stereo pre-amp output to the sub line level inputs. It also has speaker level inputs and I bought the wireless adapter kit, but not using it at this time. I have it teamed with a pair of Magneplanars and it is able to match very well with the fast acting Maggies. The wireless remote control is a big bonus and highly recommended.First I considered getting a 12" DSWPro 660wi but felt it would be too much for the Maggies. I believe the 8" 440wi was the correct choice. With 180 Watts continuous it has more than enough power to rattle random items around the room if you so desire!

This is a great sub, the power surprise you for the size of the sub. The remote is great, get to setup the sound for your favorite seat. Make sure you setup your receiver's subwoofer output that way the sub detects the signal. You will love this sub just as much as I do, there is no comparisons for the value!!!

Michael below is right. This is NOT 600 watts. Polk's site says it's 360/180w, NOT 600w !!! CORRECT THIS ITEM, BEST BUY !!!
