Light and Portable; Decent Sound Quality

The Polk Bit portable speaker is designed to play music while clipped to your clothing. It easily pairs with your phone or other bluetooth device by holding the volume up and down buttons at the same time. It has a cap on one end that exposes a USB plug that you can plug directly into a computer or charger which is way more convenient than having to have an extra cord.
As far as the functionality goes, it's very impressive. It's light enough and the clip is strong enough that I was comfortable clipping it to even the thinnest of fabric like a t-shirt and have it stay there while jogging. It's perfect for people (like me) who have never found an earbud that will stay in their ear while exercising.
Why even bother with this instead of using the speaker on your phone? Well, this is so light you won't even notice it's there, unlike a phone which bounces around in your pocket or needs to be strapped to your arm with a band. I really enjoyed having it paired with an Apple Watch loaded with songs.. Then I have music without having to carry my phone with me at all!
Another plus is it does have a microphone so that you can take calls.
While the Bit can definitely get louder than most phone speakers, its not going to blow you away with superb sound. You can't have both portability and thumping bass. However, for as light as it is it's a good compromise between the two.

It's a nice little speaker for the purpose that I bought it for, but the battery life is too short and the charge time is too long. I bought this too use while working outside the house,so I didn't have to worry about phone getting damaged or dirty. Less than 90 minutes of battery does not work for me.

Great wearable BT Speaker

The Polk Boom Bit is a very small wearable bluetooth speaker that really lives up to its billing. I was looking for an alternative to running with earphones and gave this speaker a try. It's easy to setup/pair with the iPhone 6 and within minutes I was off and running.
The sound is very good to great considering the size of the speaker. It's not going to replace a high end (expensive) BT speaker, but it's certainly offers bang for the buck.
It's easy to clip on to a shirt collar or waistband for use while running, biking, etc. When it's time to recharge the battery, simply pop the top open and plug directly into a USB port...no charging cables necessary.
I would have given this speaker 5 stars, but wasn't completely happy with the controls. As there are only 2 buttons (to keep the size and weight down) there's a bit of a learning curve on which buttons to hit/hold down to get certain commands.
Overall, this is a speaker I would certainly recommend to anyone looking for a cost effective wearable/portable BT speaker.

A "BIT" Disappointed

I tried to keep my expectations from climbing too high due to the small size of this BT speaker. But I was still a “bit” disappointed. Overall, it’s a nice little speaker but will only meet your needs in very specific situations.
Instructions: The instructions included with the speaker could be easily missed due to the packaging. They are hidden in a pocket under the Bit. They focus on the button operation and little else. You can download a manual from Polk’s website which goes into a little more detail but turns out to be inaccurate. For example, the manual states that when charging the indicator LED will be red and then go out when fully charged. In actuality, it turns blue when fully charged. This change in detail could lead one to believe that the unit never completes charging. This is a better scenario as the color change gives positive feedback to charging status, but Polk really should update their documentation to avoid confusion.
Buttons: There are only two buttons and through a convoluted mix of usage you are able to control power, volume, track advance, etc. They have a good feel and a positive “click” when pressed. The downsides are two primarily. 1. Powering on or off always took more than two attempts. 2. Here’s another case where you have to memorize another series of options and button combinations. I would much prefer a couple extra buttons (there is room on the two long sides) to control the unit.
Bluetooth: Pairing with my iPhone and iPad was super simple. Once I managed to actually turn it on, I went to the BT settings and paired with one tap. But when I tried to pair with my iMac, it was first listed as a series of letters and numbers and it would refuse to pair. I had to unpair with my other iDevices before the iMac saw it as “Polk Boom Bit” and then was able to connect. Is this a limit of the Bit? I dunno, it’s not reference in the manual. Range was good as it took > 30 feet and 3 walls between the bit and iMac before sputtering began.
Size: This thing is small. Even smaller than it appears in the photos. So it is super portable and in turn, could be very easy to loose. LOL With it’s diminutive size, I didn’t expect super high fidelity. Not even on par with most desktop BT speakers. But with that in mind, the sound is anemic. It’s slightly better than what I get from my iPhone. But the sound from my iPad Pro 9.7” was far better….and louder! It’s ultra portable and the clip allows you to slide it on to most any thin item that is less than .25” thick. So it should attach to just about any apparel, belt, purse, etc.
Run time: I have seen varying reviews referencing the play time between charges. I was able to get > 3 hours keeping it at a rather low volume since I was using it primarily in a cube farm at work.
Suggestions to Polk: Update your manual. Add a couple of buttons. Make the power cycling easier/more reliable.
Summary: Super portable BT speaker that can meet your needs, if your needs are very specific. If sound quality and volume are not a critical factor; and you want sound on the go; and you are in a situation where you don’t care if others around you can hear it; and you don’t want to listen all day then the Bit could be for you. For portability, my needs are more commuter related so I’ll stick with headphones, thank you.

Good sub for earbuds/phone speaker

This is a pretty cool idea and sounds better than your cell phone speaker. Most high end earbuds will beat the sound but sometimes earbuds aren't what you want. After I charged it all up and connected via bluetooth to my phone I gave it a try. I played 9 holes of golf while it was clipped to the cart and the battery lasted. It was at a med/low lever and there were times I paused but over all I would say battery life is OK.
Parts of the case are a rubberized material and parts are plastic, looks pretty sturdy. Charging is accomplished via the USB connection. The clip will allow you to attach to almost anything, shirt, hat, belt loop etc..
All controls are accomplished through the use of the volume up and down buttons (+ & -) so you either have to keep the directions or memorize their usage. Pairing was effortless to both my pixel and laptop. All things considered a worthy addition to my audio collection.

Compact, light and good volume

First I rate it Five stars using the purpose it was designed for, allowing one the ability to have "personal" sounds heard while still allowing you to hear sounds from your external environment.
The unit is very compact and light and stays put to wherever you attached it to on your clothing or even on purses, backpacks and so on. The sound is remarkable given its size and the controls are simple too The control buttons allow you like most music playing headphones to rewind, fast forward, replay or jump to next tracks.
The ability to hear your music or phone as you hike, jog or just walking is excellent without compromising your security by reducing your hearing to external sounds.
The only real drawback is battery life, at under three hours (I got a little over three hours from a combination of music playing and phone conversations) if you go on long hikes, walks, etc., that it is not easy to recharge quickly for prolonged use.
But I like the device for the ability as I said to listen to your tunes and phone while not having your ears' hearing ability reduced.

Nice Highly Portable Wearable Speaker

Having used this during a number of my workouts, I have to say I have grown to like it more and more. When I first opened it I was a little concerned about just how small the speaker is. However, despite its size, it is capable of producing sufficient sound to complement my workouts. Given I conduct my workouts at home, on my own commercial equipment, "outside" noise is not a factor. The design of the clip has allowed the speaker to remain attached during my weight, core, cardi, and even Pilates routines. Given I have been using this indoors and in otherwise quiet environments I do not need to use this speaker at full volume. Accordingly, battery life has not been an issue for me; I just make sure to charge it after I use it in preparation for my next routine. Overall, a great highly portable speaker with acceptable sound quality and sufficient battery life.

Loads of Sound Packed Into a Small Package

My first thought on unboxing was, "Oh great, this is gonna be a tiny little narrow-range speaker with a tinny sound and crackles on max volume."
Nope. Totally deceptive: this speaker has DEPTH. It's like the whole thing is a resonance chamber... it pumps out audio much louder, clearer, and with better frequency range than your smartphone on speaker mode, in the same form factor as a small pack of mints.
This will be my go-to device when I need to fill a conference room or small classroom with mood music.
I love the cable-less USB recharge capability (at least, until everybody swaps to USB-C), the form factor is nice, the whole package is very clean - but the lack of more than 2 buttons was kind of obnoxious.
There's a slew of button combinations that comes from those two buttons and the timing on each that equates to various functions like "unpair" or "pair" or "turn off/turn on" or "answer call". Obnoxious enough that you can't learn it? No. Obnoxious enough that if you're otherwise distracted in the first 3 months of ownership and you don't have a manual handy? Yeah, you might push the wrong button or something silly.
Overall: worth your time and attention if you bike, run, or otherwise need your own personal soundtrack (in a form and sound factor that will NOT make you feel silly or burdened).
In fact, this would probably be perfect for Cosplayers or LARPers... the clip is sturdy and has enough strength and give that you wouldn't worry about losing it or where you'd have to clip it - and you could load up another device with pre-programmed sounds, integrate this into your cosplay, and you'd have really loud, attention-grabbing SFX right there with you.

This little speaker blew me away. Polk got this one right. My daughter loves it. She clips it in her side and ride her bike up and down the street listening to her tunes. The sound quality from such a small speaker is second to none. It's very small, but produces a sound of a speaker much bigger. It's easily charged by a USB port and has great battery life. I definitely recommend this tiny portable bluetooth speaker with big sound.

Great little Bluetooth speaker with hands free phone feature. Not tinny sounding at all, very good sound quality for its size. Ruggedly built and durable it should last a long time. I have one complaint though, the instructions are hidden in the inside top of the packaging and I only found them by accident after I spent the time to download them from their website. They should indicate where the instructions are enclosed.

I've tried a few different bluetooth speakers/speakerphones over the years, and I've gotten used to the various tradeoffs you usually need to make with them. This one is a pretty thoroughly middle of the road one in terms of performance, though it does have a few nice features to help it stand out.
So, to start with those features, this speaker forgoes a charging port in order to just stick a full USB drive on the bottom, covered by a protective cap. As such there are no cables to worry about when it comes to charging. And the speaker does seem to be fairly waterproof based on what happened when I got unexpectedly caught in a rain storm wearing it. I'm not sure how much I'd recommend you put that to the test, but for the intended use taking it outdoors on bike rides and hikes it should be rugged enough. It also does seem to genuinely get close to 3 hours of battery life as advertised.
Beyond that though... There isn't much to say about this. The volume is good, but not that much better than what you can get on most phones with the volume turned up. The audio itself is definitely weighted towards giving you more bass, and this can cause some sound to be lost out in the world. And the controls are all centered around the volume buttons, meaning it's rather difficult to remember all the specific combinations of long and short presses you need to run through all the different functions. This led to some awkward moments when I thought I'd turned it off, only to have a private call suddenly broadcast to everyone in my vicinity at maximum volume.
All in all, I'd still say you're probably better off just going with a single earbud than you are a wearable speaker for listening on the go. But if that won't work for you, this is a workable compromise.

I'm been using this when walking and have really in joyed it, Can you still talk to one and other unlike having ear buds in. We both use to always keep one ear bud out so we could talk. And this speaker is very lightweight I barely notice it. Also has good sound quality. At this price point you can't go wrong. I will be buying these as stocking stuffers for christmas this year.
Some Cons would be.
The buttons take quite a bit of force to engage making it some what difficult to turn on and off.

I would never expect AMAZING sound to come out of a speaker as small as this one. The sound that comes out of this speaker is definitely not amazing but it's actually really good when you consider the size and price of this small thing. I'm not really an audiophile or anything so I can't give you a in depth critique of the exact quality of the sound, but I do think that it's worth the price if you're looking for something that's very portable and easy to stick to your person.

This speaker is quite deceiving. You wouldn't expect good quality sound from a small wearable speaker. But Polk delivers with this bluetooth speaker. I found the sound to be crisp and clear with a good amount of bass. Look for roughly 30 dollars you aren't usually expecting a lot out of any speaker, but to me this speaker is worth that and maybe even more. For example the other day I went to the gym and forgot my headphones. No worries, I just clipped this the polk bit to my shirt collar and wore it while I worked out on low volume. Didn't bother anyone and the speaker didn't move an inch. I can see alot of other practical uses for this speaker. Like riding a bike, attached to a backpack while hiking. Long story short, for the money you can't go wrong with this speaker!

This speaker definitely has a niche market. The speaker is not up to the quality of standalone Bluetooth speakers, but this is not necessarily expected. This is great for listening to podcasts, youtube videos, or music at a normal volume when headphones may be inconvenient. Overall this speaker fits a specific purpose and I would not have a problem buying this at $25 or less.

Well, this is a neat little piece of technology - just don't expect a big cloud of sound to wrap around your head, which is a good thing if you need to be aware of your surroundings. Everything has a purpose, and this little portable speaker fits the bill for getting better volume and quality of music when exercising or running/walking, without being "plugged in" to earbuds or headphones that might keep you from hearing cars on the road or kids in the other room. It's a mono speaker and "quality" is about what you expect but no surprise there. Phone calls work OK, sound quality is going to depend on what you are doing and where you have the Polk-Bit clipped on - neckband of your shirt gives the best phone call experience. Battery runs for a couple or three hours, depending on the volume of course. Clip is sturdy and I didn't worry about it coming off during normal exercise or activity. Probably the best feature is the end cap that pops off and has a standard-sized USB plug for charging. Really, one less little cable to have to mess with and I like just popping off the end cap and plugging in to the computer to charge back up. You can also use a USB charging plug (not included) if you don't want it hanging off your computer. Overall a nice little piece of technology that doesn't cost a lot and comes in handy when needed.

This unit is meant for active users, sound is great for what your getting. Worth the money as well, easy clip on and off with grip. I've enjoyed my podcast while going for bike rides, walks, and runs. Simple to use with a six hour battery life at a medium volume. The color makes is easy to find if it falls off, but I don't foresee that happening with the grip I get.
