Cool and Handy for Specific Uses
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Polk - Bit Portable Bluetooth Speaker is a tiny speaker (think of a box of Tic Tacs) that is a slight improvement over most smartphone speakers. In my case, my iPhone 7Plus was louder and clearer, but the Bit did offer a very slight improvement in lower tones. Not Bass by any means, but more lower tones than the iPhone. So for me, the attraction is in the portability and simple functionality. it has a standard USB plug for charging and offers multiple features via 2 buttons. It's design includes a strong clip for attaching to your pocket or collar, or wherever, and it stays in place very well. I enjoyed taking a walk with my wife and having music to accompany us. It also works as a speaker phone and I was able to take calls on it. It is not for large, enhanced sound like bigger bluetooth speakers, it's a gadget that can be useful in the right circumstances. The only negative is that it's price makes you stop and think whether or not you really need it. If it were slightly less expensive, you'd probably just grab it without a thought.

Simply, does what it needs to do
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So this speaker is about the size of a fun-sized piece of Halloween candy. It is NOT intended or designed to fill the entire room with music. This really is a personal speaker. After charging and syncing, it just plays like any other speaker would. Connects to the collar of your shirt, or a pocket... and is loud enough so you can hear it. Great for working on things, where you don't want ALL your hearing blocked out by headphones... such as gardening, house tasks, etc.. This would NOT be something you would wear in the gym or out and about.. as it is a personal Speaker.

Surprising sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Smaller than expected, lightweight, nice clip and firm cap. Sound louder and clearer than expected. Paired easily to phone. Safer than headphones if active.

A lot of sound in a small package
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A must buy if you are looking for a really small portable speaker. I was extremely impressed by the sound quality and volume that came out of this small device. The speaker feels nice in the hands and is water resistant. What is also cool about this is that you can use it in your car as a bluetooth speaker for your phone calls. Or better yet in your office as a speaker. The speaker was easy to set up. The only negative I see is that the battery life is only 3 hrs but the sound was impressive that is why I still gave it 5 stars.

Good Idea / Poor Execution
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really had high hopes for the Polk Boom Bit as I am one of those people who would rather not have music pumped directly into my ears. Not only do I hate not being able to hear what is going on around me, it can sometimes be uncomfortable. The idea of having a small portable speaker that pairs with my phone and goes where I go got me excited. Unfortunately, the Boom Bit didn't quite meet my expectations. The sound quality is pretty good for its size. Definitely better than your phones speakerphone. I found the range to be pretty impressive and didn't encounter any distortion at high volumes or songs with heavy bass. The volume doesn't go quite as loud as I would like. Still it's about 50% more than my iPhone 6s Plus. Plenty loud to hear in a room/office and even in a room away. The build quality is high and the clip is very firm so I wouldn't worry about it falling off. It's also very light so even on a lightweight tank top, it doesn't tug much on the shoulder strap. I'm not crazy about the sport blue color as I prefer a darker blue but that's minor. The controls are minimalist with only a - and + buttons. An included tiny quick start guide has all of the different combinations but basic use is pretty straight forward. The real disappointment of the Boom Bit comes with the battery. Very convenient charging in the form of a built in USB connector so just plug right into the outlet adapter or your computer for a quick recharge. That's where the positives end with the battery. Polk rates the battery at 3 hours use (which I find to be kind of short). Even more disappointing is that this rating is done at mid to low volumes. Most of us will be using it at max volume because half volume is really useless unless you're right on the speaker with no noise from the outside world. Even inside in complete silence, half volume is just barely at an enjoyable level sitting right next to the speaker. At max level , you can only expect approximately 45 minutes of use. I guess that's okay if you're going for a short run/walk. But for the many other uses (beach, outside projects, hotel room listening, etc.) 45 minutes doesn't get you very far. So that is a huge limit in the usability of the Boom Bit. I would've sacrificed some weight for added battery performance at max level. In conclusion, this product fell short. It still has its uses and it will excel at those things that are under 45 minutes and don't require a louder speaker. Unfortunately, most of the uses I can think of require more speaker volume and/or significantly more battery life. Still, at $30 it's not a bad purchase if it fits some of your needs. Pros: -Design -Build quality -Simplicity of control -Sound quality (for its size/price) -Price Cons: -Max volume -Battery life

Functional little speaker!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This little speaker works great for the size and price! It's very surprising given how small this speaker is. It's light enough to clip on your shirt and listen to music or take a phone call while exercising! My only complaint is that it only has two buttons, volume up and volume down. This gets slightly annoying when trying to use all the features of this speaker. All in all, it's a good buy!

Very portable, Easy to use
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very light weight, easy to wear. Clip on has good strength. Simple use buttons have great functionality. Paired very quickly with my phone. The Sound is good considering the small size and depending on the genre. Turning unit on or off does take quite a bit of pressure on the buttons (must press both -+ at the same time. I would have preferred a separate power button. Over all Good Quality!

Nice sound from a small device but question use
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My first thought when I received this device was that for me to carry it on my person, it needs to deliver a sufficiently better sound/quality experience than I'd receive through the integrated speakers on my phone (an iPhone 6) for me to find it useful. I wanted to see if I could further quantify the difference and downloaded a decibel meter app to compare. The baseline metrics were captured with all three test devices placed the same distance and angle to the meter. Mozart's Serenade No.13 in G Major was selected as the sample track. For the iPhone, the decibel level stayed fairly close to 80 but ranged from lows in the mid 60s to max 94 with peak 83. (95 83 88) The polk Boom Bit did a little better increasing the results by about 5 points on each. I'm not sure what that tells us exactly, but the experience of the Boom Bit was a somewhat richer, fuller sound than the iPhone, which seemed to get tinny when turned up all the way. The setup was simple enough, though the instructions on how to answer a call were actually not correct. The very brief instructions indicated I should hold the + down for 2 seconds to answer when I actually need to double press the button for it to work. Similarly to disconnect. It also doesn't work well if you're too far from your phone. It seemed to start being an issue at 30 feet, less when obstructions (walls) got in the way. The skip forward while listening to a play list works. Skip back only goes to the beginning of the song you're listening to, doesn't seem to skip back to the previous song easily, but all that can be done like always on the phone which you'll need to have close at hand anyway. I was also unable to find any way to tell how much battery is left and/or when it is fully charged. All in all, I thought the sound from the polk Boom Bit was definitely of better quality than the internal speakers on my phone, so audiophiles may be getting what they want out of this device, but I'm not certain how likely I personally will be to carry or use it often. Then again, I don't often listen to/broadcast my music on speaker in public either, so I may not be the exact demo for this product.

Great Little Bluetooth Speaker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This speaker is great!!! Setup is not difficult, but I needed to look at the instructions to figure out how to pair and use it. The speaker is a lot smaller than I thought, but the clip makes it easier to walk around with. I also like the ability to take calls with this speaker. I need to mention that this speaker puts out very loud sound considering that it fits in the palm of my hand.

Excellent Portability, Somewhat OK sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can see myself using this when biking outdoors, maybe clipping it to my shirt. The speaker is tiny (smaller than i imagined when i saw it online) and when you consider that, it is impressive. If you are looking for amazing sound quality, it's obviously not going to be the same quality of a larger and less portable speaker, but if you just want to be able to take your music with you when you're walking or biking (and it's a bad idea for safety to wear headphones while doing that on streets) then this is a great solution. The charge is supposed to hold for up to 3 hours, which for me is more than i'd use on average one-time need.

Decent cheap Bluetooth speaker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a nice cheap Bluetooth speaker, that about sums it up. There's nothing really amazing about it. It's really little, has decent loudness and is quite a bit tiny. It is neat that it clips on to your shirt or backpack. I could definitely see this as something I take camping or hiking and wouldn't worry too much about. Battery life is decent, about matches the factory stated value. All in all not a bad speaker for the price and would definitely see myself using it when I'm outside and worried I'd mess up a more expensive speaker.

Flawed, but still worth a look
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Polk Boom Bit is an interesting device. It’s sound quality is ok, it’s volume is mediocre, it’s quality seems solid, and it’s battery life is middling. That summarizes what is really an amazing little device. The Boom Bit is a bluetooth speaker that has exactly 2 buttons. These two buttons can accomplish pretty much anything you can imagine a bluetooth music device should be able to. You can increase or decrease the volume, play, pause, call, answer, hang up and also turn on/off the device with these 2 buttons. If that all sounds a bit crazy, it’s because it is. Two buttons don’t really lend themselves to this much multi-function, and unless you’re more than an occasional user of all the features, you’ll probably forget what combo does what. Adding one button would have made the buttons more useful in that it would have followed a more standard pattern that most bluetooth users would understand. In most scenarios I can imagine, you’ll probably just whip out your phone to control. The real power in what the Bit can accomplish is really it’s ability to be a personal area speaker. It’s not much louder than most cell phones, but it’s ‘clip’ and weight makes it easy to position closer to your ears than most running cellphone cases will allow. This makes it really helpful for short runs. I say short, because any marathon runner will toast the battery way before hitting the end of a training run. The device is rated at 3 hours of use, and that’s probably at medium volume. If you’re running against traffic or anything other than soft birds chirping, you’ll probably have it closer to max volume. I found 2 or so hours was realistic, so most half marathoners (or less) can probably get their training run in before running out of juice. I focused on running, as I really think this device is a great concept for runners. Headphones can be dangerous blocking out noise of approaching cars. This is a great compromise. Sometime I had difficulty hearing more subtle songs, but for energetic running music it at least provides something. The Polk Boom Bit is a bit flawed, but the nice thing is it’s affordable. If you fall into it’s target audience then I highly recommend trying it out!

Big things come is small packages
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was surprised at how small the speaker was, but when i connected it to my phone (which took all of 10 seconds) i was blown away by how loud it was. Charging this thing is a piece of cake and the attached clip makes portability easy as pie. I love this little speaker and it goes everywhere with me.

Cool Little Speaker for The Active
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's really small, like smaller then your cellphone. It's bright blue and the inside is bright orange too. When i turned on the speaker and synced up to my cellphone i was surprise by how loud the small speaker is. I played anything from Rock to Rap, and it didn't sound to muffled. I like the clip on feature because now it becomes mobile like myself. I like to go jogging at least 4-5 a week, and i sometimes like to unplug the earbuds and play through my cell speakers. Now i can clip this speaker on and go on my regular routes around the park without worrying about draining the sound. I just clip it around my T-shirt collar and i'll have the music next to my ear.. I can see my brother using this when he goes under the house (he is an electrician) or my mother as well. The usb cover looks like it has a tight grip, so you dont have to worry about your usb getting dirty. I can easily hide this in my gym bag when not in use. I'll be using this speaker more often in my workouts.

Fun Gadget
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'll be honest, for the price this thing is great. It is durable, the connection was painless, and it fits a purpose. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because all of the functions are done though the + and - volume keys. You have to remember how many seconds to hold or not hold the buttons to perform additional functions. But once remembered, it was great. Decent sound and very portable. If you think this is what you need, don't hesitate because it works great!

Good for what it is
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was torn on this device right after I ordered it. How useful could it really be? The day after it arrived I had surgery, and this little thing has been following me through my house during the recovery. Question answered. The sound is decent - not that loud, no bass, but clear and definitely an improvement over the little speaker in your phone. The Bluetooth range is excellent, playing across two floors in my house. Pairing is simple as can be, although you may want to read the on-line directions rather than the graphics-filled user insert. Their web site shows people wearing it while exercising, etc., but there are a couple of things wrong with that. As noted. the volume is probably too low to do anything beyond annoy those nearby. And that leads to the second issue - it's fine for your house or a hotel room, but do you really want to be the jerk playing your music for all to hear while you walk down the street?

Meh...not happy
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first Bluetooth (speaker) product. Package was difficult to open and the instructions were hidden in the top of the package. The unit itself is cute and small and, well, convenient looking. As I had no experience but I had the instructions, I thought I was ready to go! Yea, so I thought. The instructions say to hold the + & - for 2 seconds to turn one...HA...was more like 8-10 seconds. I finally got my phone to recognize it, but I could not figure out how to sync to use. I had to have a friend show me. It is louder than just a regular speakerphone use, however I felt like my buddy Carol was talking through a sock...in a tin can. Not clear. My phone is brand new and hers is less than 6 months old so I know it was not the phones. I will use it as it will be convenient to use as I walk around the house while on the phone, I just have to get used to saying "what?" all the time. Until the technology improves, I think you can pay more to get better.

Decent speaker, poor controls and battery life.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a terrific concept, especially for things like skiing, cycling or even working in the garage. I really wanted to like it a lot, but it's just a "bit" lacking. A securely clipped personal speaker is a great idea to replace wired earbuds or a bluetooth headset without isolating you from your surroundings. The sound quality is better than most phones, with decent bass, but certainly not hifi. It's certainly solidly built, stays in place, and survived a couple of drops, sweat, and a puddle. The two things that keep it from being stellar are the limited battery life (maybe 2 hrs at mid volume, but no more than an hour at high volume) and the really awkward controls. Two buttons are used for on, off, volume up, volume down, play, pause, track forward, track backward, answer phone, and hangup. The two buttons are used separately or together, and held briefly or for more than two seconds. This is bad enough, but the rubberized covering and button shape makes it very difficult with one hand or with gloves. In summary, it addresses an unmet need and works adequately, but could really use some good user experience engineering.

Very Good Tiny Speaker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This speaker is tiny! It has some really good sounds especially considering its size. The only drawback is the lack of a dedicated play/pause button, you have to press the volume up and volume down buttons together for that function. While this is not a deal breaker, it would have been nice to have a dedicated button.

Small size, good sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was relatively shocked by the sound from such a small size. It's not the greatest sounding bluetooth speaker but in comparison to some others I've had this one is pretty good. Battery life is decent. Might be a little over priced. Well done Polk.
