Porco Rosso, is an obscure movie from Miyazaki, but for anyone who enjoys Studio Ghibli movies, its a required purchase. Its unfortunate that the movies currently produced from them are just simply "ok" - not to the high standards when Miyazaki had the reins. Note for anyone: For current highest quality - look out for "Your Name" coming soon - I saw it on a plane trip - fantastic.

One of the greatest Miyazaki productions. The visuals are gorgeous, the universe / story are original and well constructed and the characters are well written. I literally was in Mediterranean sea living the story with them. Highly recommended.

Loved the dvd, but just had to buy my own copy when I saw this release on the 'coming soon' section. Everyone always says something about how the studio just knows how to make something appealing, yet not bore you with excessive detail. The

Hayao Miyazaki's love of aviation in the movies began much sooner than his latest The Wind Rises. Porco Rosso is about a man (with a pig's snout because of a spell) who incurs the wrath of pirates, so they hire another pilot to get rid of him. Both pilots vie for the same woman as well. The A/V quality is good for this early Ghibli movie. Lossless audio is present, but only in English/Japanese 2.0. There aren't many extras, but the highlight is to watch the movie with original storyboards. This would make a great double-bill with The Wind Rises to see how things changed in-between the films.

I love Ghibli movies, this movie might not be for everyone but i like its simplicity and wonder. It only has DTS HD MASTER 2.0 channel in English and Japanese with subtitles for both which is fine for me.

Although a Miyazaki fan, I initially passed on wanting to see this movie because it starred an anthropomorphic pig, imagining something along the lines of children focused morning cartoons. Not until I read some reviews that I found out that Porco was a human who was cursed, and that the story was a whole lot more than I thought.

Miyazaki's follow up to hit films like Laputa and Naussica was not as well received at the time of its original release. Seen as a major departure to the high fantasy of the two previous films, people didn't know what to make of this great movie. This film has such style. I just love it. Although, I still love Laputa more.

While this story is no Ponyo, it still has all the charm of other Studio Ghibli films. Wonderful animation and great character voice over by many stars you will recognize. My children loved it and have already watch it multiple times. Just wish they would add digital versions. Highly recommended!

I love Porco Rosso, the Italian pig, it is one of my favorite Ghibli movies to watch. So happy to keep finding Ghibli movies that are NOT DVD's for over $30. Good price for a Bluray and DVD copies, can't wait to add more to our collection!

This was one I hadn’t seen, we saw Spirited Away over 10 years ago for the first time. This movie does not disappoint!! A movie that boys and guys will enjoy more with military parts. So excited to own this ❤️

This is a re-release of Disney's release of the anime. The image appears to be softer than the Disney release but the English subtitles are better than the Disney dumbed down subs. The audio track also seems a bit muted from the Disney version.

Highly underrated and vastly under seen early Miyazaki. Excellent air battles and humor elevate this story of a pig-man. The steel book is lovely too.

One of Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli movies. Enough said. It's well done, there is action and sentiment. The animation is top notch, the story is good. If you are an anime fan, you should already have it.

Priceless piece of anime history and another stellar book for my collection. Also this story really stole my heart. Please just watch it once and judge it.

Probably one of his more odd films and definitely a more adult one, the adults will like the story and the kids will enjoy the fun. The politics and such are in the background, do not worry!

Always loved Studio Ghibli animation, Wish it came with 4K and definitely a digital file, so i can complete my vudu movie collection.

I haven't seen it but he absolutely loves this movie. I don't have any doubts that it isn't good. It's Mayazaki afterall. Also bought it for my friend and her and her daughter were happy with it.

It might not get the same attention as other Miyazaki films, but this one is very fun, entertaining, charming, exciting, and I could go on. The characters are very likeable and Porco is just so cool.

I think the story sounds really cute. Bought as a gift for friend's daughter and she loved it! I then had to purchase for mom and brother because they were jealous. We love Miyazaki films!

I really enjoy watching this Miyazaki film. It’s got a lot of good funny scenes and a “pig” that can fly a airplane, who can beat that. If you love Miyazaki films than you’ll love this one too
