I haven't played and any Amored Core games since part 2 for PS2! (or was it PS1?) I was looking to get back into the familiar role of Mech customization which is as in depth as Grand Tourismo. They have plenty of preset mech's for you if you're not looking to get too technical in the game. But if you do, it's great! You have to choose legs strong enough to hold up the the rest of the body and weapons of your mech. And you need a power generator strong enough to power all those things. More weight = less speed. So you're really forced to balance things out, which I love the strategy in just setting up.
Above that, the gameplay is actually very fast paced. You will be dashing with boosters left and right trying to avoid missiles and other things coming your way trying to damage you. And it is unforgiving. But the harder the game, the sweeter the victory!
I don't really like the mission layout and the menu lay out for creating your mech and buying new parts. I was able to figure it out rather quickly but it's not so user friendly and people who don't like figuring out a menu to play a game will be turned off rather quick. This is a rather old game in itself. If you're looking for a better, more polished package, I would suggest checking out some of the newer Amored Core sequels.
