Let's be real, there isn't any other option as far as it comes to a good basketball game but that's not a bad thing.

The 2k series just keeps coming with quality NBA games. Blows EA Sports NBA Live out of the water.

There's not a huge upgrade from 2K16. Graphics look mostly the same however, there seems to be more animations and player options. Not sure it's worth the price if you still have 2K16.

The reviews here are hard to believe for me. There are definitely some improvements from last year. The MyTeam aspect is better - not so futile if you want to play without paying. Defenders are not so stupid and there seem to be fewer exploits. Some of the same problems still. Must have been coded by a Golden State fan boy because they play like gods, especially Curry. Teammates in MyCareer mode are morons and do some pretty nonsense things like passing up open shots and running toward defenders when they are wide open.

Game adds to many fouls. Makes the controls harder every year to do simple things. Also still lets opponents cut leads when you get to far ahead.
