Led Zeppelin's most shamefully underrated album

Zep's "Presence" is the absolute underdog in their catalog. Upon first few listens, the album sounds startlingly unfinished. But as time passes on, that weakness becomes a major strength. The shorter songs may not rock as much as one would wish; in fact, those songs have more in common with funk than rock. But go into "Presence" for the epics: if you're not completely blown away by the proto-thrash of "Achilles' Last Stand", the paranoid desperation of "For Your Life", the messy self-loathing of "Nobody's Fault But Mine" and the bluesy despair of "Tea for One", you're really missing what Led Zeppelin's all about.

Although this album is not their best, it sure does pack a punch. The bonus disk is nice to have as an addendum to the album proper and great to have for the minimal extra cost. Despite the well known tracks being the usual favorites, I prefer the last track "Tea For One" over the others. To me, this is a very underrated and much overlooked track. It's bluesy (to a point) but subtly dreamy as well, especially the slight fade out, fade back part. This album is worth the price as a re-mastered album alone but with the bonus disk, it's a must-have for anyone who enjoys a very nice '70's album.

Straight ahead rock by the Zeppelin

May be one of the most under-valued albums in Led Zep's catalog. This is one of the funkier and stripped-down albums by the band. Just guitars, bass, drums, vocals, and some harmonica with little, if any, keyboards on the original 7 tracks. There's a second CD of interesting demos and different takes of the original songs, as well as, some previously unreleased tracks. Jimmy Page oversaw the remastering process himself.

Zeppelin reissue bonus disks will grow on you!

Beyond the weirdly-titled but lovely instrumental "10 Ribs & Carrot Pod Pod -" (!?!?), the bonus disk gives you more subtle alternative mixes. Like those on the previous album reissues, these grew on me with repeated listens. Hear Robert Plant snort in this version of "For Your Life." And is it actually him on the weird alternate vocal for "Royal Orleans"? Need more song info in liner notes.

Another fine remastering job by one of the best in the business Mr. Jimmy Page! Sounds great! And the bonus music is just a great incentive for going out and getting this music at a great price! You won't be disappointed with this purchase!!

This is one of my favorite Zeppeling albums. Achilles Last Stand is worth the price of the newly remastered CD alone! Jimmy Page has really done a stellar job in remastering their studio albums and the deluxe edition packaging is way cool.

A reissue of the last great Led Zep album

This reissue of Presence is part of the last round of Zeppelin reissues along with Coda and In Through The Out Door. At times, Presence can be even heavier than Physical Graffiti, but one of the extra tracks (the instrumental 10 Ribs & All/Carrot Pod Pod) shows a jazzier side.

I agree with Jimmy Page, this is the best companion disc of all the Led Zep remasters. Track 3 on disc 2 is maybe the most beautiful instrumental Led Zep song ever, check it out you won't be disappointed...

Never had the Led Zeppelin albums past Houses of the Holy. Now that they are remastered, I finished the collection. Knew the songs, just never had the albums. Great sound as most remastered albums are now.

Jimmy really did a wonderful job remastering the catalog, and the packaging and bonus disc of unreleased material really add to the Zep collectors catalog. Well worth it!

If you don't like Led Zeppelin, you're not going to like this album. If you're a fan, then you'll enjoy it. The extras aren't essential, but they are fun to listen to.

A Great Remaster of a Great Album. Although not as good an album as Houses of the Holy, Nobody's Fault But Mine still stand with most LZ hits.
