What more can I say? This is the quintessential industrial album. It was great when it was released and remains great today. It has stood the test of time. The vinyl is good quality but lacks the depths of a 180-gram remastered LP. It's still a great value for what is basically the album in its original release format.

Fantastic album, my only complaint is there was no 180 gram option. Wish that Best Buy carried every record in 180 gram as well as the cheaper ones so that collectors could be happy too. It plays well though, so I’m happy.

I just wasn’t buying vinyl when this album came out. CDs were the state of the art and we didn’t consider any other format. When i purchased my turntable two years ago i slowly began to rebuild my collection on vinyl. The audio quality sounds superior on vinyl. So rich and thrilling. Love this record and love listening to it the way it’s supposed to be heard.

This album is one of the greatest albums of all time! The PREFECT bridge between 80's New Wave / Goth / Industrial AND 90's Grunge and Shoegaze. Trent Reznor isn't in the Rock-N-Roll Hall Of Fame twice for nothing!!!!!!

At The Start Of It All

Musically, 1989 was an exciting year; "Grunge" was just about to explode, hair metal was on the wane, and a lot of new bands with new sounds were arriving. Diverse artists such as Prong, Rage Against The Machine, Nirvana, Tori Amos, Tool, Smashing Pumpkins, White Zombie-you get the idea. Lots of different sounds. Among these new noises was "Pretty Hate Machine", the debut album from Trent Reznor dba Nine Inch Nails. This album really was ahead of its time, combining the harsh industrial sounds of Ministry and KMFDM but also the songwriting sensibilities of a band like Depeche Mode. It is an album that can be appreciated by just about everyone. A complete package, and over the next decade you could see the influence it had on the electronic/industrial scene-check out bands like Machines Of Loving Grace, The Final Cut, or Wumpscut and you'll get the idea. Highly recommended.

Totally down with this vinyl. From what I read, the remastered vinyl that came out later actually is a lesser version when compared to the original. That’s why I got this version and I love it.

Great record from a great artist. I am not an audiophile but I can definitely hear the difference (richness) vinyl makes. (Just getting back into it).

Absolutely best electro-industrial album. This version has a little problem with bass/volume but contains the original samples reznor used in ‘89. 100% recoomend
