IS A GREAT CONTROLLER
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Better than the Xbox one controller that’s for sure. The controller is needed if you want to play competitively because the joycon grip is trash.

Literally the best Controller I've used to date
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've used many controllers over the years including high end specialty controllers and I can't think of a single controller that gets as much right as the Switch Pro Controller. At first glance, its appearance doesn't make it look like it's of the highest quality thanks to a very basic shape and not much in the way of immediate standout extras. The moment I picked this up to play a game, however, it became immediately apparent just how high quality this controller actually is. The material used for the controller is a hard plastic that is neither rough like the base Xbox One controller nor is it glossy like the Wii U Pro Controller. No, it's a smooth mat finish with a different texture on the handles. It is extremely pleasant to hold, much like a Dual Shock 4 or a Xbox One Elite Controller. When it comes to the actual inputs, I was shocked to find how much I like the analogs on this controller. The analogs have a very similar shape to the Dual Shock 4 (DS4) analogs and they almost as much pressure as the DS4 analogs. However, unlike the DS4 they have tread around the edges like the Xbox One (XB1) controller but it's a lighter amount and the rubber material used is similar to the material used for the Wii U Pro Controller and Gamepad. This is all good imo. The analogs on the Switch Pro controller essentially have all the pro's of the gen 8 analogs without any of the cons. When it comes to the buttons, in specific, the face buttons, Nintendo has delivered as expected. The face buttons protrude just as much as the Wii U Pro controller but are slightly larger and aren't as loose. They feel great to press and use. The d-pad protrudes the right amount, clicks the right amount, has a great roll, and essentially functions the way I've come to expect from high quality Nintendo d-pads. The other 4 face buttons are much smaller and don't protrude as much but they're much easier to press and use then on the Joycons. When it comes to the shoulder buttons, unfortunately, the triggers are still digital buttons like the Wii U Pro controller and Gamepad. However, much like the Wii U Pro controller, they're extremely easy to press and comfortable use. They have a really nice feel to them. On the note of comfort, for me, after using the Wii U Pro controller for a significant amount of time and while I do like having the 1 up and 1 down layout design, I found that the Wii U Pro controller was a vastly more comfortable controller experience then any controller before it. While the Switch Pro controller doesn't fully match the Wii U Pro controller in the level of comfort, it comes really close. After several long game sessions, I have yet to run into any instances of discomfort or stress on my hands while playing. That said, because the base molding has such a basic design, the grips don't mold as well into my palms as the Xbox One controller, DS4 controller, or Wii U Pro controller. This isn't to say that the grips are inherently bad, but they could benefit from slightly more curves in their shape. Another issue that arises from the basic molding is the back of the controller is kind of flat. While this does help to an extent because there's no protruding plastic on the inner part of my middle finger causing discomfort, it also means there's no plastic to kind of catch the middle finger for better gripping. I should note, neither issue are major complaints that cause issues with gameplay or comfort, however, I do think the Switch Pro controller could have been even better if the shell was slightly closer to the Wii U Pro controllers. When it comes to extra features, the controller isn't as barebones as the Wii U pro controller. Because of this, instead of getting 80 hours of battery life, it gets 40. This is far from bad though. You have no obnoxious lights or useless battery draining features that you can't turn off like the DS4 and unlike the XB1 controller, it comes with a battery built in. To add to that, it uses USB type C to charge which, in my opinion, is infinitely better then Micro USB. Unfortunately, like the Wii U Pro controller, it's still missing a headset jack, which honestly, the Switch, like every other Nintendo system, doesn't have a robust online system with voice chat taking a center roll. This may change down the road, though I doubt it will, so I'm not expecting the lack of a headset jack to really mean much. Granted, I do every now and then plug in my headset to just hear the game audio late at night on my PS4 and XB1 to keep the volume low for everybody who's sleeping. That said, I can also play the system portably and plug in a headset there, which also works for me though I do understand if somebody who wants to play on the TV only finds this annoying. They've added a share button similar to the DS4, which is always cool. There's a NFC reader built right into the controller now, which is very good for what Nintendo's doing thought I have no idea if this will really ever be used outside of what does. Though, I should note, I've already used the NFC reader several times. It also includes the HD Rumble, which is pretty awesome. While the HD rumble is definitely best suited for the Joycons, it still works well in games that support it and use the Pro controller. Overall, while it's not the absolute perfect controller, it's one of the best controllers I've ever used. It's comfortable to hold, comfortable to use, has inputs that work exactly the way I want them to, has no annoyances I wish weren't there, and has one of the best battery situations I've ever seen in an input device. It feels very premium, even more premium then premium controllers I've purchased for other systems. Imo, if you own a Switch, this controller is a must buy. If you're looking for a controller for PC, you'd be hard pressed to find something better.

Solid Performer
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.***Writing this a year after purchasing*** Pros: Comfortable, Nice size for both small and large hands, solid feel Cons: Battery life has diminished rather quickly over a year, occasional drift Bottom Line: 1 year+ of ownership and some minor complaints. The drift is far less noticeable than the joycons, the battery had an amazing run time at first but has diminished to a level more in line with something battery operated. Despite these tolerable issues, it is still the best controller for the switch.

Fantastic controller — only second to the Xbox Eli
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is hands-down the best controller for the Switch, and honestly one of my favorite controllers overall. The only one I like more is the Xbox Elite Series 2 — and that’s saying a lot. The build quality is excellent. It feels solid and well-balanced in the hand, not cheap or hollow like the standard Joy-Cons. The buttons have a nice tactile feel, the analog sticks are smooth and precise, and the triggers are super responsive. It’s great for both casual and competitive games. Battery life is insane — I’ve gone days without charging, even with heavy use. Plus, the USB-C charging is a huge improvement over the old micro-USB setups most controllers used to have. I mainly use it for games like Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Metroid Dread, and it never disappoints. Motion controls are responsive, rumble feels great, and there's zero input lag. If you’re a Switch owner and want a serious upgrade over Joy-Cons or third-party controllers, this is 100% worth it. Rock-solid performance, premium feel, and just an overall great gaming experience. 5 stars all the way.

My new favorite controller
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had held off buying a Pro Controller for my Switch for over a year before I finally dropped the dosh. I'm pretty upset I waited so long because it's just as good, if not better, than the Wii U Pro Controller that I've always held in very high regard. I prefer the size, shape, and feel of the Switch controller to both a Dualshock and Xbox pad. All 3 major players have amazing controllers these days. The buttons feel good, the sticks are tight, and the triggers are comfortable. The d-pad isn't as good as it could be, but I don't play games that require d-pad perfection too often these days. I haven't had any misdrops in Tetris 99 so far. I had attempted to use one of those Power-A wired controllers for a while (because I was cheap) and they don't even compare. Heck, mine developed stick drift after less than 10 hours of use. Just save and spend the extra money up front. You'll be happier that way.

Must have if you play docked
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Pro Controller has proven itself to be far more comfortable than the joy-con grip for long play sessions while docked. I couldn't imagine using the joy-con for the hours on end I have played with the pro controller. It holds a charge well and recharges quickly - I have only run into low battery once. Form feels nice, controller is light-weight but solid, and it is aesthetically pleasing. Also having a more traditional controller has helped ease friends who are not comfortable with the joy-con into local multiplayer. The only real knock is the price - it feels awfully expensive at retail. But if you frequently play the Switch docked and can catch this at any sort of discount, I cannot recommend enough.

Good controller with some small complaints
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will say I preferred the shape of the Wii U Pro Controller over the Switch Pro Controller—it just felt more molded to my hands. That said, the Wii U Pro Controller felt too light and cheap to me. The Switch Pro Controller, by contrast, has a great weight to it—enough mass to not have the problem the Wii U Pro Controller had, but not heavy by any measure. The full-size buttons, analog sticks, and triggers all feel great to me and make up for some of the top complaints about the Joy-Cons/Joy-Con Grip. Battery life has not been an issue for me—I have forgotten to plug the controller in many nights, and I have still not had it die while playing, which makes me feel better about the lack of removable/replaceable batteries. Finally, the grippy texture in the plastic on the handles just feels really nice. My top complaint, apart from the shape not feeling quite as nice as the Wii U Pro Controller, is the price. I recognize the controller contains an accelerometer, gyro, NFC reader/writer, etc. on top of the basics, but $70 per controller feels pretty steep when you can get an Xbox One or Wii U pro controller for $50 (and Wii Remotes were $40). My other complaint is the d-pad. It is decent, but I find it really easy to accidentally hit [up] when moving from [left] to [right] or vice versa, which has gotten really annoying in Puyo Puyo Tetris or Breath Of The Wild. I had no such issues with the Wii U GamePad or Pro Controller (or the Xbox One Controller). This might not be a deal-breaker for you, but it might be worth getting your hands on one before you buy if you are particular about d-pads.

Authentic Switch Pro Controller is worth the money
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Buy the authentic pro controller, don't make my mistake. This is hands down the best quality and holds up. I waited a month or so to write the review, for comparison purposes. We bought 2 cheap ones on Amazon to have for the holiday and multi player games and they were awful (joycon drift and charging both). Went and spent the money for the real one and it's hands down worth it. No problems with drift, it stays charged for days and feels great in my hand. You get what you pay for.

Excellent First-Party Controller
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As you'd expect from a first-party controller, this device works perfectly. It's got a decent weight to it and good overall size. Buttons are nice and solid and the joysticks are super sensitive and accurate. Battery life is great, able to last for several hours or even days of gameplay. I love that it uses a USB Type-C connector, since I can use my new phone's charger to charge the controller, although it doesn't support any sort of "Fast Charge" and will still take an hour or two to recharge the battery.

Great controller for your switch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As with many official 1st party controllers this is a little pricey, but it really is a top notch controller. It feels much better in the hands than the joy cons, has a finer touch in the joy sticks, and I’ve never experienced drift with it. The only downside vs the joy cons is how you can turn joy cons sideways to create two controllers for most games. This will only ever be a single controller.

Favorite controller
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've played with the Joy Cons, they are fine, a bit small maybe for my hands. Out of every system, from NES to now, I find the Pro controller for Swtich to be perfect for what I'm looking for in a modern gaming device. Very comfy, quality made, long battery life, pretty cool style that you can see through a little, and there is a neat easter egg in the right analog stick that thanks all gamers essentially. It has gyro /motion controls and the price is a little high but not too crazy compared to others.

Perfect complementary controller
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent comfort, grip, responsiveness. A high quality Nintendo product. I personally prefer this way more than the native nun chucks, which I found too small and hurt my hands. The similarity of this controller to other consoles (e.g., Xbox, PS) allows for easy transition for other gamers. Battery life and range of the wireless are very good, never have an issue as we regularly recharge it at night

Best Controller on the Market
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this controller because I needed a larger controller with better motion controlls compared to the joycons. It is the most comfortable controller I've ever held, the grips offer stability for my hand, and the motion controls are precise. I very much would recommend this controller to anyone looking, if they're willing to pay the steep price.
