This TV is worth the money

This is the first product I felt compelled to write a review on. I normally am not wow'd by things and expect them to perform as advertised, but this TV was much better than I expected for the price. I feel I could have bought one of the other 37in name brand TVs for $700 and got the same result. I am assuming Proscan is just cheaper due to lower overhead with no advertising. I read these reviews before I buy various products and use the opinions to decide on what I buy so I thought I would pass along my 2 cents on this Proscan 37.
I bought this Proscan to replace our bedroom TV. First off...I have a one year old 42 inch Panasonic Plasma in my living room to compare it against with the proper HDTV cables and upgraded HD signal coming through. I love the Panasonic and it gets a great picture. My Proscan in the bedroom does not have HD cables or HD signal...just plugged into the cable outlet. I was expecting a terrible picture when I first turned it on but was very impressed with the picture just like this! The local channels are now digital and they look as good as the plasma HD. The other cable channels look fine as well and no complaints. I never find myself wanting to go watch TV in the living room due to needing a better picture.
At time of purchase, I was concerned with the 720p and 60mz and that I would get dizzy from the blurry fast action of sports...no such thing...and I watch a lot of sports. We have had the TV for a year and no complaints. This is a purchase I like to brag about. Great product, great price.

Third times a charm

I recently purchased a home and had to take my Samsung 42" LCD with me. So that left the family home without a TV. On my first trip to Best Buy I found a 37" Dynex open box buy for not a bad price. I got it home and the picture made me get an instant headache with its green lines and pixelation.
So I returned that the next day and bought a Samsung 32" that was on sale. On setup it had a very flimsy stand, with instructions that if you don't wall mount you better mount the stand to the wall. If that didn't worry me the picture was ok not sharp and the sound was horrible it had issues with the sound not being equal with program as it would increase or decrease volume on its own.
So I went to my local best buy to return it today and saw this on the clearance table for $379.00 they didn't have a display model to check it out but I took the chance as Best Buy has an awesome return policy if you are not satisfied.
Got the set home, much heavier and sturdier than the prior purchases, picture quality is nice, even the NetFlix streaming to it the picture is sharp. Sound quality is adequate much better in HDMI.
Happy with my purchase I think I've finally found that replacement TV, would highly recommend this to friends and family!!

This TV put an end to the discussion on who was going to have to watch the other TV. Neither one of us mind watching this one. My husband usually falls asleep watching TV so the sleep timer is great. We had shopped for a 32" for the bedroom but the deal was so good on this 37" we got it. I am so glad we did, it is great. I have already recommended this TV to a family member. I think this TV has a better picture than the larger TV we have in the family room. On fast moving action the picture quality is not as good as normal but it is not all the time and just for a second.

I have had this TV since June when it was on sale. It ended up being about 498 dollars with the additional warranty. I must say, I was skeptical without knowing much about it, etc. I ended up purchasing it because the price was so good. For a started HDTV, it has been wonderful. Granted, the quality doesn't compare to my parent's tv (Sony Bravia 46"), but I also wasn't willing to dish out $2k for a TV. For the price and the purpose- this has been a wonderful TV to me.
In our house, we have a 52" Samsung, 42" Samsung, 46" Sharp, 42" Sharp, 37" Vizio (Refurbished), 32" LG and this 37" Proscan. I can tell you right now, after comparing the prices that my roommate's paid and the significant drop in prices of their TV's, I am really thankful that I own this. It has treated me right and I highly recommend it.

I bought this on sale for $399.99 when my Magnavox 37" went out. As a replacement, it certainly does the job. NO TV when you have kids is a not happening. Anyway, I was very happy to find such a deal and when I sold TV's in the early 90's, Proscan was a high end RCA product. Apparently that has changed. Although this TV filled the void, so to speak, it oddly paled in comparison to the Magnavox I had. The HD is decent but does have some blurring when things are fast moving. I also noticed a drop in picture quality when playing video games, colors are a little flat and edges lack some sharpness. Am I completely disapointed?? No, for the money it was a great buy and as long as your not comparing it to a high end LCD, you would be satisfied as well.

I bought this as a tv for our bedroom....it has been well worth the money.
While it doesnt have the quality our sony bravia 120hz has....it does have excellent picture quality. We cought this model on clearance for about 200$ less than anything in its class (specs/size).
as with most flatpanels...the onboard sound isnt the greatest, but it does provide adequate volume for our bedroom (which is about 15'x 18')
great buy.

Good flat screen tv. The only problem I have with it is it will randomly turn itself on/off by itself at times.
