This worked very well out of the box. My 8yo was able to fly it and the video worked well (I need more practice in flying...). A little hard to control in a wind, but the range of the remote is good, so retrieving it was no problem when it got farther away.

I bought this for my son as a Christmas present. He has had tons of fun with is so far. Easy to learn the controls and camera. The downside would be that you only get about 7 to 9 minutes of flight time. Don't take it out on a windy day! It will get blown around very easily.

Good little quadcopter for learning how to fly.

I bought this item mainly because I was curious about drones and how to fly them. As a training model it does an excellent job, it can take a beating and still work. HD cam worked fine at first but now it stops recording after a few seconds. Battery flight time is only about 7 minutes, but extra batteries are fairly inexpensive. Don't fly on windy spots though.

    Great entry level quad-copter

Just for the record, this is an entry level quad-copter. It's fun, takes video and pics, doesn't go very far or high when you compare it to other more expensive quad-copters, but it's just that... fun! I bought this for my son and we have spent... well, minutes (flight times last only about 10 to 15 minutes) outside flying this and then later replaying the video. Controls are good, it has the learning speed and then a higher speed once you get comfortable with the quad-copter, video is good to better (depending on available light) and pics ok. There is no control for the camera other than on and off. So the video or pics are based solely direction and hight. If you're looking for an entry level quad-copter with video capabilities, then this is a great deal

I am happy that I bought a Protocol Dronium as it comes with a camera. Flight time is approx seven min. Control distance about 220 feet and it takes great pics. There is a 2MP camera. I use it to take video and pics. Video is 720p and format is avi.

I bought this for my sons birthday, and was pleasantly surprise in the ease of control. Down side is the battery length but it is using a lot of energy. Giving it a 4 rating only because I haven't seen the camera quality yet, but look forward to it. Great item so far

Good deal for the price, ok video. Controls a little hard to get used to. Not super nimble, but fun. Downfall is 7 mins of battery life for a 75 min charge. Makes it kinda hard to take it out somewhere unless you purchace more batteries.

This is a very good buy. I really like it. Avoid higher winds. The controls are good I've been flying helicopters for a couple of years and this was my first drone. Took about 5 or 6 tries but I have it down now. Even if this is your first flying experience it shouldn't take too long to get it flying. Because it's a drone it's easy to move around. (forward backward side to side) Its when you start rotating it that you really need to master it. Its a lot of fun. I have flown it in my house but only in big spaces.

For those wanting to learn remote flying, this is a good introductory craft. It is light weight, so extra care must be excercised during moderate winds. The RF range is ok, about 75 feet before losing control of the craft. Battery life during flight is short (about 6 min), even less when the camera is turned on. Camera clarity and sound are very good. Battery recharge time is about 2 hrs. I give it 8/10.

Great drone for a beginner, I recommend getting use to the controls and trim adjustment inside before hitting the great outdoors (unless you have a cherry picker capable of getting your drone out of 50' trees). Video quality is great but wish it had live streaming to the phone. Thing is built fairly solid and will take several hard hits before the protector plates need replacing.

Good price, but too light to control

The copter is amazingly light and resilient. It has not broken yet, although it seems to lose its control signal after rising about 30 feet, and has had to make many fast and hard landings (basically falling from 20 feet). However, its lightness also makes it more like flying a kite than a machine. It is very difficult to control. It continually ends up stuck in a tree, after being blown off course and beyond its range for control. The camera is fair, but since it is hard to know which face is "front" the photos are usually not the intended image. You don't know until the copter is back on the ground and you take the chip to download to a computer. It's a GREAT PRICE, but only if you have lots of flat grass on which to use it, and you don't want realtime imagery.

My 13 year old grandson was flying it proficiently after 3 tries. 1 hard landing and 1 crash into a brick wall with no broken parts. It was very stable in 15 mph winds. Pix and video were good. (for a 13 yr. old operator. Trick easy to learn.

Great purchase. My 12 yr old son got it & found it easy to operate, loves all the different things it can do, picture quality & distance is far better than we ever expected. Still discovering all it has to offer. Also tolerant of several bump ups, which is great!

Would recommend this for starting out like I was, nice to learn to fly on. Controls easy, but can't get videos to play on my computer. Still working on that. Pictures are ok but for the price I'm pretty happy.

This quad is very cool for a beginner quad. It is actually a little harder to fly this than all the automatic expensive ones. But once you master this one you should be able to fly almost any quad.

Bought the drone for our 10 year old grandson. He promptly flew it into our pool on its first flight. Good thing it's durable (we found out it's REALLY a durable), because after the swim, it was caught in a tree, on the house roof, ran into he fence and still kept on flying. The only down side was the battery only lasted about 7 minutes. We all learned to fly it in a matter of a day and dad and grandpa had the drone doing flips in the air by day 3. Cool toy and fun to fly.

This was a gift for Christmas and is a great starter drone. Graduating up from the indoor helicopter from last Christmas, this drone has enough power to fly outside in light winds and is light enough to fly inside.

My fiance' wanted this so badly..bought it, and its fun..if there is no wind at all..seems like the least bit of breeze made it difficult to control. We ended up taking it back, and spending the extra 200.00 on the pricier quadcopter..and he has loved it ever since..the dronium is good for persons who have experience in controlling flying crafts..
