This is a nice follow up to SLC Punk. It could never be as good but I still liked it.

Usually it is said that a sequel is a bad idea, I just want to say, why did it take so long to make the second one I enjoyed it just a smidge less than the original

A poor excuse for a sequel.

SLC Punk! defined my childhood. It introduced me to a thing called independent films. This movie, does not do anything good.
It has a run time of 1 hour and 15 minutes. If you took all the concert footage out it would only be an hour long. The returning cast spend the entire movie in a "steam punk" shop while the new characters spent the entire movie in a car.
It's just not a good movie. The jokes don't work. The film making style of the first is missing. The writing is bad. The characters are unlikable. And the big reveal about the girl about half way through the movie is just, out of no where and unnecessary.

What's punk? What's not punk? Who cares? It's just great to see a new movie dedicated to punk rock. Loved it.

At first I watched this with my sister, we thought it was good. A coming of age movie as the previous characters pass the baton. Now an hour later I'm thinking: hey wait. This is leaving a bad aftertaste in my mouth. Where is the intensity of Matthew Lilliard as he frantically contemplates his position in life and society? Where is the energy strike of frustrated nileism? Instead a heartbroken kid who's mom is worried he had a few beers and went to a punk rock concert? The first movie dealt with some hardcore stuff with a rough landing. The sequel is Bud Light. I'm gonna go watch the original again, its been a few years. Also another fav of mine set in the mid 70's : 'The Stoned Age'. Check that one out if you loved these.

Honestly, if you are expecting it to be like the first, you could be disappointed. No Mathew Lillard, but still great!
