The movie is great, and the music is amazing! This is Prince's film debut, and he smashed it. He's has pretty good acting chops for someone who didn't study/train. The album, which shares the same title as the film, 'Purple Rain' had an even bigger than the film selling more than sixteen-million records. Anyway, buy this film chances are you'll love it, and find yourself wanting the album too.

I was amazed to hear my wife had never watched this great movie! A trip to the theatre for a special showing was in order, after that I wanted to bring the magic home for us to share again and this blue ray does not disappoint. I’m a ‘movie guy’ and I pick movies not just for the story but how they will present in my home theater and this movie hits on all fronts.

This blu ray is awesome. FIRST of all this case is purple instead of blu! the sound & picture is restored and what i like most is that it has All of the Music Videos from the Purple Rain era. You can't even watch these on Youtube so thats a big plus. Ton of behind the scenes stuff too. This is the ultimate Purple Rain Blu ray i would say.

Much like RCA, Warner bros took their top pop star and said hey we can make money if we just have him sing the dialog (thanks Eddie Murphy) . Purple Rain is that for Prince. It is the 80's at its finest. Music-awesome, costumes- awesome, plot-.....music is awesome. And Appalonia. A must for any fan of the 80's.

I saw Purple Rain years ago when it was first released in theaters and thought it was an excellent movie; however, after purchasing the film on Blu-Ray and watching it in the privacy of my own home, with the sound pumping on my theater system, it blew me away!. If you haven't done this, you won't be sorry when you do! It's pure adrenaline in a disc!

Prince and the Revolution scorch with "Let's Go Crazy", "I Would Die 4U", "When Doves Cry" and the title song in what Rolling Stone calls "the smartest, most spiritually ambitious rock-'n'-roll movie ever made."

Despite being dated, I was rather surprised by Prince's performance and the story that goes with it. Its pure 1980s nostalgia with heart and soul packed into. There's good comedy with Morris and the Time while Prince's performance as the Kid is compelling and engaging. A must have for collectors. The bonuses are something not to be missed.

In my humble opinion Purple Rain is just one of those movies that you don't appreciate until you haven't watched it for a long time. That's where I found myself after the passing of Prince. So I ran out bought it & after several years of not seeing it realized just how good this movie is. If you don't own it do yourself a favor & get it.

This is clearly the one Prince movie you should have in your collection and this recent remaster is the one to get. The video is crystal clear, the songs are rich and dynamic. The plot itself is well known. It is basically an autobiography of his life to that point, but well told and nicely blended with the music.

Remember seeing this in 1984 in the theatre and still Absolutely love this movie today. Prince was and still my idol. May he rest in peace but his music and his memory, legend, and Star will always stay with us. Especially the movie and song in our minds and hearts "Purple Rain". R.I.P. and cherish his memories.

The only downside is how this BluRay doesn't have any new bonus features. Then again, with the untimely death of Prince, it was nice to at least get a new copy of Purple Rain. The big positive is that we have a new transfer which looks significantly better. Only get this one if you want a better restoration.

Although it was his first movie, Prince's acting skills were a little rough around the edges at times. Overall, the movie was great. It has you rocking in your seat with some great music. Got it at great price, too. Prince oozes charisma in this and you just can take your eyes off him. He is greatly missed.

I remember when this movie first came out. I was teenager and went to see it with my older brother. What can I say, those was some great times. If, you love Prince and his music, this is a great movie to have in your collections.

Okay, let's be honest, Prince is not known for his acting skills by any means, but this movie offers one of the greatest soundtracks ever recorded. The movie is fun, great performances, a dark story line, and some humor added here and there for balance. If you are a Prince fan, this movie is a must have.

Fantastic movie, even better soundtrack. Ordered with the hope of getting the purple case and got the standard instead unfortunately.

I fell in love with Prince mainly due to this film back in the early 90's.. Great music follow the story of artists just trying to make it and with a little love and drama on the way. Greatly recommend if you ever want to know why there was the "Purple Reign" for such a great artist and person.

The recent unfortunate passing of Prince has saddened many. Imagine my delight when I was visiting Best Buy and saw they were offering his movie, "Purple Rain" on BluRay for $9.99! I'd forgotten how tremendous the music was in this film. You have to resee it (or see it for the first time).

I love this movie, but I gave it 4 stars because I recognize the fact that the acting is pretty terrible. But, it's Prince, it's Purple Rain - his most iconic album, and it has moments of brilliance wrapped in 90 minutes of music. This album, and by extension this movie, has my favorite song, so I'm a bit partial. I owned this movie once before, and I'm not sure where it went, but with the death of the music icon, I definitely needed to make it part of my collection again.

This movie made Prince a mega-star. I had just graduated from high school when this movie was originally released in 1984. A very good story with a Fantastic soundtrack. So happy that the movie was remastered. All you 80's buffs should most-definitely add this to your collection.

OMG!! I have seen this movie about thousand times! It’s about how Prince became the mega star he was!!! I love everything from music, singing and dancing in this movie!! I even have the soundtrack too!!
