This film captures the musical genius in rare form. The acting may be lukewarm at times but the stage performances carry the film and remind us just how talented this man really was! Purple Rain is a classic - the first film for the Artist and well done indeed! RIP Purple One <3

Purple Rain was Prince's invitation to see what his life was like prior to superstardom. A rough story of an entertainer just trying to make it in a world filled with tons of people vying for that top spot. Great story, but even better soundtrack. A must own for any Prince fan.

One of the best music movies ever made. Makes you feel like you are there. Prince is amazing in his live performances.

Nostalgia and great music makes me love this movie, but it really is quite terrible. Prince's "The Kid" character is pretty unlikeable and the acting is laughable, which is definitely part of the charm and fun of watching this movie. The picture quality is very decent and the sound is good as well but there is room for improvement on both ends. There are some interesting bonus features as well plus some music videos that make this release worth owning.

I have seen Purple Rain so many times...I got it because it's a remastered 2016 version after Prince died. I have to buy another copy of this to watch in order to comment on the movie itself because I will not open it, just like one copy of "This Is It."

Not a film for everyone. Prince is a 'favored underdog' musician who goes through a series of life-altering realizations that eventually lead to his ultimate success. We get to know Morris Day & The Time (Jay & Silent Bob's favorite group), here for the 1st time, too.

I enjoyed this movie as a teenager and treasure it even more as a classic now that Prince is gone...but never forgotten. I plan to keep mine as true collectors item. For those of you out there who are Prince fans, I recommend getting what you can get your hands on.

Ok, what can you say about Purple Rain? I can only say, my husband loves it! He had a copy of it on VHS then on DVD. But then, those stopped playing so while we were at Best Buy, he went in search of it. Now, he has this copy on Blu-Ray. He is a happy camper.

Purple Rain is on of the best movies ever, when it comes to mixing music with drama. I think even non-Prince fans should enjoy. More than 30 years after its release, it is a time capsule of the 80s Minneapolis rhythm & blues / rock music scene.

Purple Rain released in 1984 is a moving film that loosely parallels some aspects of Prince's life. It deals with the effects of domestic violence, the intense music competition between groups, and the power of love. Performances by Morrison Day and the Time, Apollonia 6, and Prince are classic. By far, Prince's performances of "Purple Rain"and "I Would Die For You" are exceptional and worth watching over and over again.

If you are a child of the 80's, you have to own Purple Rain. It's like a 2-hour video. Love the special purple casing. It's the only blu ray I know of that comes in that color, truly unique and fitting.

I seen this movie when it was first released and loved it even then. When I seen it at Best Buy I couldn't resist buying it for my collection. It really is a good movie-even though Prince wasn't best known as an actor-he did a fantastic job in "Purple Rain".

Great movie from Prince, heavy with new wave/new romantic influences. It's the best music from his career! And you get it in a special purple blu-ray case. I've seen this movie over a few times. Great to keep in your collection.

Best of prince music but in a movie the acting is ok at best. That’s not the reason to get the movie it’s for the songs and to see prince perform the songs him self.

A must see for any Prince fan. An inside look at his rise to fame which served him well for an entire career. Brings back great songs, great memories for older fans of where you were when this came out. A great work of art; movie and music.

With Prince's passing, all the rage is to hear and see him again. Well, the acting is marginal, but the performances and the music will bring you back to that time and place when you first saw the movie. Grab it and relive this classic.

I lived in Minneapolis when this was being filmed, saw it when it was released and many times since. Good movie with great music not only by Prince but also The Time. The extra materials on the disc are another reason to own this disc.

Prior to watching this film, I had only ever known Prince from the "Batman" soundtrack and a few other songs I had heard on the radio. I was floored by the performance he gave in this movie, and I bought the soundtrack immediately. The music is what makes this a must-watch.

Such a tragedy with Princes passing. I can watch this movie over and over and not get bored with it. I can honestly recommend this to any and all Prince fans (although I cant see very many Prince fans not already having seen this.)
