Quicken is necessary to make sure your finances are in order. The download saves you time in manually entering transactions. Price was right

    Well worth the yearly subscription

I continue to use Quicken, since late 90s. Nothing in the market today beats Quicken for integration with banks and financial institutions like brokers. The yearly subscription can get pricey though, it I recommend getting this during sale periods. The retail copies activate subscription extensions, if applied within 6 months of your subscription expiration. I still get the occasional application crash, but (knock on wood) no data loss. Quicken is fairly robust in insuring data is always on disk, which I suspect why a crash doesn't corrupt data.

I've been using Quicken for over 20 years and literally have EVERY transaction in there. It makes it so easy to keep track of spending, budget, project account balances, manage your stock portfolio - basically everything financial, I don't know what I'd do without it.

I have used Quicken for over 20 years. I absolutely hate the subscription model. They make you pay for the software every year. It's not like the software is cheap. However, it is the best one out there, so I continue having to pay for to get my investments to sync.

    Pay Attention to Release Date

Purchased this 2019 release on sale to extend my current subscription. Worked with no problems. Did not install CD, just used product key to extend subscription. Note that retail product key is valid for 2yrs from issue date, but there is no way to know that date. Neither Quicken support nor retail store knows the issue date. Hopefully the store pulls these before they expire. Look carefully at the Release Date listed at the site(small print). Based on pre-subscription model, new releases were available in Oct-Nov.

    Don’t like default categories

Current version of Quicken may be easier for new users because of reduced setup requirements. However, as a long time user, I find it problematic. Most of the pre set categories are combined master and sub categories. That’s fine if that’s how you work your budget but if you want single level categories you can’t delete the defaults.

So far I am impressed. I am using on a new IMac after years of use on windows systems. Quicken easily updates balances and I have easy access to my account data. Much better performance than my old system. I like using the program again but do not know if the much improved performance can be attributed to the new IMac or new version of Quicken. I am just glad my old Intel I3 based system is in the recycling bin! Seems like everything is in real time now.

    Should Not Require Annual Subscription

I'm a longtime user of Quicken Personal Finance. Their switch to an annual subscription is frustrating and expensive. The program meets my needs and I need the continuity with all my prior data. Still, I probably would not recommend Quicken to a new user who could use other services for their financial purposes.

I have used the Quicken Premier software for years...I only use the stock section of the program now and altho there is a small learning curve regarding entering data...the program is accurate and efficient especially for DRIP programs. For tax purposes...capital gains reports are a breeze! I buy from Best Buy when it's on sale and use the activation code to renew the subscription saving $ vs downloading directly from Quicken.com

Software is as good, if, not better, as it always was. I DO NOT like it becoming subscription software! I DO NOT like that subscription renewal reminders (after I let the initial subscription lapse) now take up about a quarter of the screen when open (there is no getting rid of them). When time to upgrade, I WILL look elsewhere.

Does the job and its reasonably easy to use. With the yearly subscription the product is a bit overpriced whereas before you could get away with upgrading every ~3yrs to maintain bank connectivity. Some features could be further improved but for the most part the reporting capability is sufficient.

The product has continued to improve in some ways, still a bit glitchy on the edges. When you're upgrading, I strongly suggest reading the upgrade instructions on the web BEFORE and DURING the upgrade to help it go smoothly for your data file(s). Not fully preparing your file for upgrade could make for a very protracted experience including minor to catastrophic data loss.

I've used Quicken for 20+ years and it is the best home finance software available. At less than $50 Best Buy had the lowest price anywhere for a 1 year Premier subscription.

I've been a Quicken user for 15+ years. I have not been able to find any other "home user" financial application as thorough as Quicken. There's a bunch of website that do this part, or that part, but Quicken pulls it all together in one place. I highly recommend getting it and committing to it. Yes, it is subscription based, but you can ease that annual pain by watching for sales and picking it up then and you just enter the code is the package on the Quicken portal and it extends your subscription. Much better than paying their highly bloated regular priced annual fee.
