It works as expected. I don't really use the app but I l or the brush. The case was a shocker for my wife. I don't know how much it helps my teeth, but it does make me brush more often.

I have had this toothbrush for almost a week now and am loving it! My initial impressions are as follows: Pros - light weight, brush head is very easy and smooth on my gums with no bleeding - unlike competitors. I have also tested with the red training tablets from the dentist and the cleaning, with device prompts, were equal to or slightly better than my previous electric/battery toothbrush and my good old fashioned toothbrushes! Bluetooth connected with the application and whichever devices I have tried “iOS and Android” with zero problems, each of the device/applications updated equally whenever I happened to have a different device with me or connected later. Toothbrush/Device works well as advertised. I have registered and subscribed to Quip, points seem to be racking up in accordance with the company policies, they promise to automatically send new brush heads every three months? Price of this device is slightly more modest than the competitors of equal quality/value. Cons - other than the brush head taking me a few brushes to get used to the softer silicon brushes I have no cons to report for folks interested in buying this device especially with the replacement head promises. Bottom line first impression, this is a device I like very much and give 5 stars.

I was excited to try Quip, as my dentist has been telling me how much benefit I would see by switching to an electric toothbrush over a manual one. This toothbrush comes in nice packaging that provides an overview of the functionality. Inside is a reusable tube that doubles as a toothbrush holder. This tube contains a toothbrush with pre-charged battery installed as well as a code to receive your first replacement head, battery, and toothpaste free. While I haven't yet subscribed, the insert states refills are $5 with free shipping. This seems reasonable and not much more than the cost of replacing a manual toothbrush. To start, I installed the app and set up my information, later that evening I took my Android phone near the toothbrush, following the pairing prompt and everything was up and running. The toothbrush has a built in timer that gives vibration alerts every 30 seconds and turns off at the two minute mark. In theory this is to ensure you spend equal amount of time on both upper and lower teeth. I can then go to the app at any time to see my brush history, time spent brushing, coverage of top versus bottom, strokes per minute and acceleration. The app defines recommended target for strokes and acceleration. In addition the app gives you points per each brushing session, so you can put the points towards rewards in the app such as a solar charger, tote, floss, and other Quip products. Unlike so many apps, Quip's app is basic however works as expected, without crashing and the options are intuitive. Overall I find that this brush has improved my habits, ensuring that I'm spending equal time on all areas of my mouth and making sure I'm not brushing too fast or slow to be effective. My only wish is that the design was a bit more ergonomic. For someone that has brushed with a manual brush for decades, the straight neck makes this one a bit hard to get used to in both pressure and how it fits as you brush. I'm hoping the next iteration Quip will adjust this to make replacement heads with different shapes, angles, and styles.
