Raffles (2 versions) 1930.1939
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Raffles (1930).This earlier version of the British thief found (stuffy) Ronald Coleman ,aided by the sophisticated Kay Francis,sticking close to the contemporary play 'The Amateur Cracksman'.A fast moving script of a dull story found Coleman & Francis saving it. Raffles (1939). Another Sam Goldwyn production,using the (basic) story line found David Niven (replacing Coleman) and Olivia de Havilland (replacing Francis) . Perhaps this one is better,as supporting players Dame May Whitty & Dudley Digges added a bit more ,but not by much?
