I like this movie mostly cause it's not super hero Tom Cruise, but regular Tom Cruise, plus now on blu-ray!

The plot is a little hard to swallow. Callow, self-centered young man has a change in his moral structure because of his newly-discovered brother. Hard to buy the complete turn-around. Hoffman's performance is too mannered. He, of course, is not an autistic man struggling with his place in the world, he is a savant. Rather than show respect for his different abilities the Cruise character uses them for his own benefit. We are expected to believe that he comes to respect these abilities and seeks only a brotherly relationship with the brother he never knew he had. I'm not convinced a road trip would truly temper his anger at his father's slap at him from the grave. However, if you are looking for a specific picture of this type---change comes as you learn to love---this may be for you.
