The original version still stand up and holds well to me. I still enjoyed it and loved how the story shifts into gear right off the bat. The so called "Director's Cut" is no director's cut. It's a re-cut by a fan of the movie who wanted to kiss Brian DePalma's a%&. DePalma did intend for this version to be released and did approve it but, chickened out at the last minute cause the beginning is SOOOO slow and BORING! Long story short: There is NO new footage. There is NO alternate footage. It is the EXACT same footage from front to back but with a different order. The first 40 minutes was all the cheating wife and her story. The new so called "Director's Cut" is basically an homage to Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho. If you were to watch the director's cut and psycho side by side, you'd see what I mean. Just like Psycho it starts with one story then changes lanes at the 40 minute mark. The only difference is in Psycho, that first 40 minutes is enjoyable. Raising Rain's Director's Cut is not. I understood it perfectly. The dreams and the flashbacks, but I just didn't care. I surprisingly enjoyed the theatrical version far more. So if you don't like one the D.C then you'll still love the original like I did.

This is an interesting release in that it has both the ori gi nap directors cut, then also a fan put together a well regarded fan-edit trying to replicate the original directors edit, De Palma liked it so much Scream licensed it.
I expected way more chicken content for a company marketing video. Nevertheless, Lithgow sitting around chewing scenery while wearing dark sunnies and smoking cigs is gonna sell a lot of Cain sauce.
(Note: watched directors cut)

this includes two cuts of the film. the theatrical and a new director's cut.
the director's cut makes the movie take place more chronologically. it makes more sense. the theatrical jumps back and forth causing a bit more confusion than needed imo.
the video quality is not quite as good as i hoped but it's decent.

One of the depalma’s underrated films. John Lithgow is amazing/creepy and the special features on the shout factory collectors addition of raising cane are fantastic. Very interesting background stories.

This is a weird one, but it has all of the trademark De Palma flourishes. If you're a fan of the director and haven't seen how Cain was raised, definitely add this one to your collection.

John Lithgow really shows his acting chops in this psychological thriller! A human is 10 times more frightening than an animal or monster in a movie. His facial expressions say it all! This movie has been one of my favorites for years!

this movie is good. DePalma clearly has a fascination with Hitchcock and this movie, along with Body Double, clearly show that.
