Core gameplay as an action/platform/shooter is the similar to past games, but with the improved graphics, SDD, Duel Sense controller, and wave dash/wall run/hoover boots gameplay mechanics makes it a more immersive experience. There's also a new playable main character. You play as Ratchet and Rivit with Clank as a companion (also have his own mini-game segments). Both go through parallel worlds with their own story which eventually intersect. Some worlds are character specific. Both Ratchet and Rivit play the same, but with different dialogue/personality. Weapons and upgrades collected do carry over from each character. Clank also have an alternate dimension version named Kit, along with other core characters in the franchise Story: Clank presents Ratchet with a dimensionator to help him find other Lombaxs. Dr nefarious crashes the party and steals it. Ratchet and Clank gets teleported to a different diamention during the shuffle. They get seperated, Clank meets up with Rivet. They try to find each other as well as go to other planets trying to collect parts to rebuild the dimensionator. This game is built from the ground up for the PS5 and fully ultilizes the console's SDD and controller. Load times are practically non-existant. Rift tether ability teleports you through portals to new areas instantaneously and seamlessly making it impossible on PS4 (no SDD) Haptic feedback is similar to the Astro's Playroom demo. Able to feel HD rumble from environment and weapons used. For example, when you enter the club area you're able to feel the sound vibration when you get closer. For weapons you feel the recoil. Able to feel bolts go into you/controller as you collect them. Tempest 3D Audio. If you have a compatible 3d headset for your PS5; you're able to hear things off to the distance which helps in battle, and for immersion. Going back to the club example, sounds gets louder as you get closer/able to hear from afar when searching for it. Can hear ships flying off in the distance. You're able to hear where enemies are coming from when they say their voice quips/battle crys. Soundtrack for the game is really good. Adaptive triggers. Able to half press to aim and fire weapon. Weapons fire differently by pressing half way to conserve ammo, or full press for alternate fire . Most likely you're going to full press majority of the time unless you're playing on hardest difficulty. Sometimes you may whiff the trigger button when caught in a moment. Combat is very fluid. Linking weapon effects and jumping/dashing around arena can be very exhilarating once you build up your arsenal. Makes past games feel really slow in comparison and will be hard to go back. Grind rail segments feel like roller coaster rides at times, especially with a lot of things going on in the background 20 guns in the game. Some unlock 2nd playthrough. Guns do level up the more you use them. Higher the level the more perk upgrade unlocks. Max level 5 first playthough, 10 second. This encourages you to use variety of weapons and not stick to one if you want to upgrade all weapons to the max, and when out of ammo. Armor can be color customizable, mixed and match sets. Some have their own stat attributes once equipped Graphics are amazing, as mentioned before, a lot of things happening in the background. Most beautiful looking games I've seen on consoles especially with the reflections from ray tracing in fidelity mode. Game doesn't stutter with a lot of enemies on screen. 3 different graphics modes: Performance RT (Ray tracing): 60fps raytracing. lower res lighting, vfx, and screen density Performance: 60fps. no ray tracing. better graphics Fidelity: 30fps. Ray Tracing. Higher res lighting, vfx and screen density. Accessibility options are really good. Similar to Last of Us 2. If you get physical; able to upgrade to digital deluxe edition for $10 on the save file select screen. Excellent and fun game. Showcases what the PS5 can do. A must buy

Rift Apart is incredible. Great story, Rivet is an excellent character, lots of humor, great weapons, fantastic gameplay and the game looks amazing. The new mechanics of the Dualsense controller really bring a nice sense of emersion to the game. The accessibility options allow the game to be played by anyone, regardless of their skill level.

Ratchet & Clank is one of my favorite game series, and their first title on PS5 is one of their best. This game really shows off the power of the PS5. No loading screens and incredible graphics plus the excellent gameplay and crazy weapons the series is known for. Throw in a really charming story and this is easily a must-have for PS5 (if you can find one).

If you're looking for a proper next gen title this is it! This game is absolutely amazing! I never thought Ratchet and Clank could look like this. Unbelievable! A flawless experience with no interruption in game play. Amazing controls visuals and audio. A definite must have not just for Ratchet and Clank fan but all PS5 owners!

If you like previous Ratchet and Clank games, this one is no different. Fun weapons, decent challenge and good storyline. Graphics are nice and crisp, and the game runs very smooth. The worlds are varied and banter between characters are great.

I really thought that the haptic feedback was a gimmick, and let me tell you that it's way cooler that I thought it was going to be. This game does a great job at showcasing it. The game looks great, the story is interesting, and the new characters are pretty good.

I’ve only had a chance to play this game briefly so far, but in that short amount of time I’m blown away! The story, the graphics, the haptics in the control are amazing! Each one compliments the other beautifully, it truly is a great experience. Can’t wait to keep playing through!

I've played a couple other Ratchet and Clank games in the past, and while I've found the games fun, I've never considered myself a huge fan of the series. This game changed my mind. This is by far the most beautiful, polished, and well-designed game of the next generation so far. And not only is it a graphical masterpiece, the story is really great too. This had the best story of any Ratchet game I've played, and the additional new characters they introduce in this game were clearly well-developed and feel like real people when you interact with them. If you own a PS5, you owe it to yourself to buy this game. My favorite games on PS5 so far are Sackboy, Miles Morales, and this, but this is the only one that isn't also available on PS4, which makes it feel all the more worth investing in buying a PS5 early. I hope this isn't the last we see of Ratchet and his new friends in the near future.

R&C is the perfect launch title for the PS5. Shows off the next gen graphics, quick load times, haptic feedback, and other new features. Plus, it's a great time. Still has all the crazy awesome weapons and New Game+ feature to keep coming back to.

Long time fan of the series. This game is awesome. Quick play, unlike previous versions that had long load times. Weapons and story are fantastic. Looking for a new game to try? This is it, try the other games in the series too, they will not disappoint.

One of the most beautiful games out right now for the PS5. Additionally, if you have been a ratchet and clank fan for a while, you will not be disappointed with the story nor all the new weapons and gadgets introduced in this game!

This game is absolutely stunning. The visuals are stellar, the ray tracing really shows, and the story in interesting. This is definitely a modern game that I will be revisiting mainly because it actually feels like classic R&C. The biggest issue that I do have with the game are certain bugs like where you select weapons and it selects something else. If not for that issue this game would've been perfect. However thats only a small issue and you won't really notice it even if you aren't mesmerized by the visuals.

Insomniac knocks it out the park on this one. To the graphics, weapons, story, gameplay, characters. Very fun and addicting to play. Also the armor selection is very fun to collect to add different looks to the characters. Definitely a must buy!

So Much fun. I like the new story and the graphics and haptic feedback on the controller create a very immersive experience. Multiple difficulty settings and save game slots mean both My son and I can play separate campaigns

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is a great game about saving the universe yet again from rifts that form from some gun that Dr. Nefarious shoots and blasts some inter-dimensional holes through the universe/multiverse. You meet Rivet who is an multiverse version of Ratchet. There are lots of hidden raritanium crystals which you get to upgrade your weapons and gear. Hidden weapons and gear all around this semi-open world game! Lots of fun! There is ray tracing which according to techradar means it's an advanced and lifelike way of rendering light and shadows in a scene. It has lot's of humor and is appropriate for kids if they can handle the difficulty. The game is not too long. Probably less than 20 hours or so but hit is worth every penny.

Wow just wow! Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is the first game that I have played for the new generation of videogame consoles were I thought and felt that there is just no way this game could have been made before. I finally felt justified in my purchase of the PS5. I have been a fan of the Ratchet & Clank series since the beginning but Insomniac truly outdid themselves with this game. The game is super fun, longer than any prior installments, and has a great story that was funny & heartfelt and graphics that will have you wondering how they did that. How they utilized the PS5’s capabilities and their great story has me super excited for what Insomniac has up their sleeve for Spider-Man 2. If you are able to get your hands on a PS5 this definitely is a must buy.

Great story. The gameplay and weapons were fun as usual. It was a bit glitchy in parts, but not so much to distract from the game as a whole. Took about 12-14 hours to play through but it’s one I’ll play through again.

Finally a game that can show what the PS5 can really do. The game is great, among the best in the series, and is easily the best looking console game to date. The only negative is Sony's new $70 pricing.

Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart is both a great return for the series and an example of what the PS5 is capable of. The only downside I can really leverage against the game is that it doesn't have a two player function like many of the past games on PS3 had. If you have a 4K HDR equipped TV the visuals are great. I find myself preferring the quality mode as my Vizio doesn't handle the performance RT mode that well and the image is a little too washed out and low resolution for me. But if you are running this on a 1080p screen you can get the best of both world with high frame rate and visuals. The story is great and while the game isn't incredibly long, it's satisfying. All around a great game if you can manage to get a PS5.

I'm not done with the game yet but I've put at least 8 hours into it. First I want to say that this may be the most beautiful game I've ever seen. That's saying something because Sony has been putting out some amazing looking games that are also great to play. Last of us 2, god of war, uncharted 4, ghost of Tsushima, spiderman, horizon (the upcoming one may overthrow ratchet and clank when it comes out). If you are a fan of ratchet and clank or even just a fan of shooters you'll overlook the fact that it's an animated game and will love this. The weapons are cool, the portal gimmick works and I like how they handle playing with 2 different characters. If you have a ps5 it's a must buy.
